The restaurant was very clean and well kept. The staff were very kind and helpful to my friend who had never been (I know shocking for an STL person). We ordered and everything was hot and made fresh if they were out of something they accommodated and made it worth it. The jalapeño turkey crunch is my favorite!! I hadn't had this sandwich in a while. Last time I ate at McAlister's (Saint Charles location) I did dine in and my sanwhich was cold and my sweet tea was unsweetened. My guests sandwich was also cold we didn't even finish our meals :/ So I am very impressed by this location and will continue to be a return customer! My wife daughter and I entered this McAlister's a little after noon and I wondered why they were not very busy.....Soon found out why My wife and I purchased the $0.99 refillable tumbler cups a few years ago for $10.00, and have used them at many McAlister's all over MO and IL with no problems. When we asked for a $0.99 lemonade refill here they said we could only get iced tea, not happy about that but ordered food anyway One of our choices was a baked potato, when they brought the food to the table the baked potato only had one small container of butter so my wife went to ask for more butter, the counter person would not give her any so my wife complained that only one small pat of butter for a baked potato is not enough butter. The counter person asked someone else who said she could give my wife one but only one more pat of butter (my wife doesn't eat sour cream on a baked potato). I came here during my lunch break, I choose the caeser salad and added the grilled chicken. After eating three bites my stomach started to hurt immediately. Some parts of the lettuce were brown and the grilled chicken tasted more like fish. I told one of the servers and they told me there was nothing they could do about it, and gave the salad back to me. Was looking for an early dinner after the concert before heading to the airport to pick up my daughter and son-in-law. I had the roast beef with horseradish and cheese, and potato soup. The horseradish sauce was kind of bland, could have used more horseradish. The potato soup was really good the bacon and onions were a pleasant surprise. The others dinners were just as good. The kids meals were okay. The pretzel dogs were okay BUT they only had a mustard dipping sauce. I asked for ketchup and was told they DO NOT have ketchup. What a mistake, some kids don't like mustard and my granddaughter is one and is highly opinionated about what she likes and doesn't like. The biggest draw back was the mens restroom, it Stunk and the floor was sticky. I've been in outhouses on golf courses that smelled better. They provided 2 dressing cups, without me asking, which was great. Huge chunks of chicken in the salad, enough for taste in every bite. I added bacon to my salad because why not. The fire roasted veggie soup wasn't the best for me. It didn't taste bad, but just not in my flavor wheel. Took about 20 min for my order which was a bit long, so I think there's a need for improvement in that area. Didn't seem like there was a manager on duty to keep the staff focused. Went to McAlister's Deli today and was disappointed. I asked them not to toast my croissant for my chicken salad sandwich and like many times in the past they toasted it any way plus my sandwich was two bottom croissants and no pickle that I requested. When they remade it, like they always do, it was really greasy from the chicken salad on the paper the sandwich was wrapped in, as well as, on the bun. Wasn't greasy on the first sandwich any place. That happens all the time! It's been a few months since I've ordered but they never fail to do that. I don't understand! I enjoy the sandwich when they prepare it correctly. I just ordered soup instead of waiting again! I enjoyed the soup. The young lady who took my order appeared annoyed with me for complaining but it was not right. They need to do better. Went for a Mother's Day lunch. There were 3 of us. The ordering process was good. We were told it would be a 25 - 30 minute wait. We found a table and waited...and waited....and waited. 1 of our 3 orders came out after 45 minutes. The 2nd order came after 50 minutes. The 3rd order came after 55 minutes. Not sure why there was such a delay. There were only 4 other tables of people in the restaurant and just 2 - 3 people waiting for carryout orders. I will not patronize this location again. This is one of my favorite spots to eat. There food is delicious and freshly made. They have a variety of things to choose from but my favorite is the Spicy Turkey Melt. It's a warm sandwich which I prefer over cold ones. Their salads are very good and my favorite dressing is the Cherry Chalet. The only reason I didn't give them five stars is because the service is very slow. It takes a long time for your order especially if you go close to lunch time. I've been very disappointed in McAlister's using Door Dash. Several times now they forget your chips or pickle that go with your sandwich, and the bread wasn't toasted for the club sandwich. I was in the neighborhood during my lunch break so I decided to buy a king club and, a grilled chicken salad, and a salted caramel cookie. The food was phenomenal. I've got to tell you that I had high hopes for this place when it first opened. We got there on Saturday about 4:30 pm and were third in line at the only open register. The line never moved. There was an elderly gentleman at the counter who seemed to be having a great deal of difficulty placing his order and the line stalled. There were plenty of associates schlepping things behind the counter and avoiding eye contact, including the shift manager. No one made a move to take care of the line of customers forming behind us. FINALLY a young girl came from somewhere else and eventually started helping customers. It took a good twenty minutes to get our food. Delivered by the shift manager whose only words to us were "thanks for coming in". On to the food: do yourself a favor and skip the horseradish cheddar roast beef sandwich if you're a horseradish aficionado. They put this disgusting horseradish cream sauce on the cibatta bread and it really doesn't work well on warm meat (or ANY meat for that matter). The chicken-caesar wrap was a real disappointment in itself. We did have good food and service the first time we came here, this time we found both lacking. I hope they discover sooner rather than later that keeping customers coming through the doors is what is keeping them in business.
