First time visit. Needed some desserts and went through their drive-thru. I wasn't thrilled with their drive-thru bc it appears that in general you can't pull up and order anything. You have to first order online or through their app and then pull through the drive-thru. I don't get food that way, so I took a chance and just pulled up to the window to see if they would just accommodate me on some desserts. And they did. I got their Brookie, Brownie, sugar cookies, white chocolate macadamia and salted caramel. All were very good and I'd get them again, maybe even their carrot cake. But not sure I would order food, sandwiches, etc., if they require online or app. I just don't do that. read more

I went in today and ordered a sandwich and drink. The computers weren't taking my card. It was the computers fault and they asked me to wait until their boss came back. They gave me my food in the meantime and I ate. After I was finished, I asked If I could pay them but they said I didn't have to pay because I was patient with them. I first went to McAlister's in Galesburg back in March, when I saw that they were providing free lunchtime meals to school kids during the shutdown/quarantine for Covid. I thought that was cool and wanted to support it, and I've had good experiences most of the times I've been there since. My girlfriend's kids (ages 8 and 10) LOVE this place, especially the broccoli cheddar soup in a bread bowl. I've had good experiences with the sandwiches as well. The only thing I don't care for is that it takes awhile to get your order. Part of this is because they're always busy, which is a good sign. But I have never been through the drive through when there's less than 4 or 5 cars there, and it can take awhile to get my food. Going inside has been a little faster, but still a bit longer of a wait than it could be. Overall it's a good experience, one that can really only be improved if they can streamline things and make the service a little quicker. read more

I love McAlister's. This location, I'm not happy with. I've been a few times, the last time made me and hubby's stomachs upset. The service wasn't consistent or consistently friendly, and the food always looked so unappealing, and didn't taste much better.. They haven't figured it out at this location yet. It recently opened. It's slow, like 15-20 minutes for your order, and you can tell they are rushing. Sandwiches are sloppily made, drive through orders are incorrect. I've been through the drive through 4 times and 3 orders had errors. No special orders or substitutions, just regular menu items. Tonight ordered two hot sandwiches, bowl and broccoli cheese soup, macaroni and cheese, and potato salad. I received two messy, cold sandwiches, no macaroni and cheese, and two cup sized broccoli soups. Also, received five spoons. Just more evidence of not caring. We have struggled with this location before but thought we would try again. Order through the web. 3 salads, 3 drinks. Only the top salad in the bag had chicken on it. "Forgot" it on the bottom two. Terrible, they weren't able to offer me a reward I had. That's not a big deal, it's the way I was treated that made the experience the worst I've had in a very long time. Girl at the window didn't know how to redeem it. Tried telling me it was invalid. Another one got involved and she helped her set it up because girl number one was just scanning it instead of typing the ice tea in her POS and then scanning the redemption barcode. They said I had to be there by 1:38 to pick up and it's now expired. I placed my order at 1:54. Picked at 2:12pm. That didn't make sense. I said I just clicked it. They said well it's expired. I said it can't be. They then said you just have to come back next time to redeem it. I think they were just giving me a BS answer so I'd leave. The reward clearly stated that even though it said it expired in 58 seconds (when I clicked it right then and there) that the staff would still be able to redeem and not to worry. I'm taking to her and about to show her that as she takes another order and closes her window. I'm assuming she was just expecting me to leave (which I did). I received a coupon for my birthday so went and got the half and half premium. The roast beef sandwich and roast beef potato. I had an errand to do so it was about 30 min before I got home. Everything was still HOT. Could not decide what to eat first but thought I could reheat the potato so ate the sandwich. First bite and my mouth was singing with happiness. lol So good. I went into an empty restaurant and, because of dietary restrictions, ordered a sandwich on rye with broccoli. I don't remember the cashier asking for my name but it turns out she had named me Vera, Waited. Waited. Waited. At some point I did hear the cashier check on Vera's order. Waited. Waited. I saw a lot of completed orders waiting to be bag. But they were bagged and none were brought to me. I asked about my order. another girl said, what's your name. I said I don't remember giving a name. She looked around and said it will be ready soon. Waited. Waited. Then I asked again. My original cashier began asking for Vera's order. That's when I realized my name must be Vera. I looked at the order screen and saw that almost all of the orders had been processed. My original cashier soon bagged an order that was sitting on the ledge and gave me a comp brownie (again, something I can't eat) for my trouble. I left and at home I began eating a sandwich that looked and tasted different. I looked at the name tag on the takeout box and it said Aubrey D. My husband and I were out shopping and thought we would finally try McAllisters. The parking lot has always seemed full ever since they opened. We went in and ordered sandwiches to go. The order hostess was very friendly and obliging. I ordered the New Yorker but only wanted pastrami did not want the corned beef on it, no problem there at all. I have to say the sandwiches we ordered were very good. Fresh deli meat stacked high on both. The bread was fresh. Everything was great about the food. They are a little pricier than some, but we did not mind for the quality. The only but I have in this review is the wait time. We waited over a half hour to get two sandwiches, and two bags of chips. It seems there is not enough help or experienced help for the back of the house. The menu is large and it seems each sandwich is very different than the other. I know this restaurant is an established chain, so there had to be some knowledge of what expectations were before opening. Maybe just more time and more experience in the store might improve the wait time. For freshness and flavor and no skimping on the deli meats I would give you give stars. However because of the wait time, I can only honestly give you three. read more
