Well coming to visit a friend in Galesburg and hearing rave reviews about this Japanese restaurant well it was good Japanese food BUT the server was very rude. I had inquiries on certain dishes on the menu but the waiter or male server has No interest. I found that very rude He didn't even bring water to dining in with my friend and his father as a guests. I ended up giving less on gratituity than the 15 or 12 perfect of the check or bill. Other than that I have been to better Japanese restaurants outside my big city of Chicago and unfortunately I never experienced such poor inattentive service! They also had limited tempura dishes I was trying to ask my server. They really need to improve on their service. If I come back I will try the other Japanese restaurant in Galesburg but not sure if I have the likes to come back here? As for the dishes I ordered they were mediocre but not bad. They are not even true hibachi since they didn't have an iron grill set up to serve people like Benihana or Ron of Japan that I know. The shrimp tempura was also ok but nothing special to give them a wow review that adds to poor service.

Very good food and presentation. We used to have to drive to Peoria to get decent sushi but Masa will save us a 40 min drive. We like it a lot better than the other place in town that just opened up. They have decent lunch specials and some very tasty specialty rolls. Both times I've been there I've had good service... No complaints here! Pictured: Sumo and Spicy Tuna I recommend trying the Crazy Tuna (my favorite) and the Mango Tango for something light and a little sweet.

My husband and I visited Crazy Buffet (aka Panda Buffet) in Galesburg, Illinois on a Sunday night,…read morearound 7 pm, in late Sept, 2024. The restaurant was scheduled to close at 9 pm; the rest of the neighborhood was already quite sleepy. All of the food that both my husband and I ate was quite tasty, including Asian buffet favorites such as Pepper Chicken; Mongolian beef; crab Rangoon; California sushi; and far more. They also offered some unique and tasty items, such as fried zucchini slices. They also had tubs of creamy and yummy ice cream for dessert. We rate the quality of the food that we ate as 4.5/5.0. However, by 7 pm, the restaurant was already winding down and many of the food trays were already near empty and weren't being replenished so there were many food offerings that we didn't get the chance to try. Our rating for variety is thus only 2/5. Service was okay (3/5). The waitress brought us our requested waters, and checked in once to see if everything was okay. The overall ambiance was of a typical Chinese buffet restaurant, and was maintained well. The restaurant and restrooms were clean. However, staff started to wind down the day at 8 pm, including mopping the floors of the main buffet area, the check-out counter, and restrooms while we were still eating and needing to walk in those areas! It was an hour to closing time! Finally, the restaurant was a good value for all-you-can-eat for $12.99/person at dinner, before tax and tip. We would return but probably earlier in the day to have full access to the variety of food choices and to ensure that we didn't interfere with the cleaning at closing.

We decided to come by today after we traveled to Galesburg, but unfortunately a disability I have kicked in upon arrival and I got sick. I didn't eat a single bite of food at the restaurant, I got a soda while the rest of my family got full meals. Well, my dad called the waitress over near the end of everyone else eating to say that I hadn't eaten a single bite; the waitress replied very rudely telling us we were at fault for not telling them I wasn't going to eat before we checked in to the restaurant. Legitimately, I got to the table with my family, didn't sit down, and immediately went to the bathroom and got sick. When she told us we would get charged for my non-meal, my dad responded by saying we'd pay it and we didn't want to argue. She continued multiple times telling us to basically kick rocks. After around ten minutes of my family finishing their meals and deciding the food wasn't worth the treatment, another waitress comes by and takes my "meal" off the ticket, saying something along the lines of "We didn't want to, but management said to not charge you" I didn't have any food, but besides this experience with the staff my family members said the food wasn't nearly as good as it has been years prior. My dad and my partner are usually ones to get multiple plates, but they both only got one and didn't even finish what they got. My dad said there's no way he'd drive as long as we did to have this again, when in the past we would make the trip SPECIFICALLY for this buffet. Nothing else, just for this place. This was a really disappointing experience, and it very much gave "money hungry" vibes. I'd get charging me if I'd eaten ANYTHING. I didn't have a single bite. I hope this was a one-off experience and the staff doesn't act this way with other, worse off customers.

With all of the adjustments to everyday life caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, discovering that I…read morecan get sustainably-caught, small-boat harvested, wild Alaskan seafood shipped to my doorstep via this audacious little company in Galesburg, IL is probably the most positive one. Prior to last spring, you would not have been able to convince me that it made sense to spend $120-$130 a month to have 4.5 pounds of seafood shipped to me, but when our standard supply chain broke down and it was nearly impossible to get proteins at the grocery store I started to look for other options. I love seafood, so that is what I looked for first, trying a couple of "fresh from ... (name your place)" options. I dipped my toe into the Sitka Salmon Shares world by buying a "bounty sale" box of sablefish, also known as black cod. I did a side-by-side comparison of the SSS sablefish and another Alaskan seafood company that ships throughout the US and the difference in quality was astounding. I signed up for SSS's premium seafood subscription shortly thereafter. SSS is a different kind of company - a "Community Supported Fishery" akin to the CSA's you might be familiar with from your local farmer's market. While they project the contents of each monthly box ahead of time, the mix of what you receive depends upon the harvest. No matter what type of seafood you receive, you can expect impeccable quality, as the CSF model allows the small boat fishermen-owners and trusted partners to handle their catch in an artisanal way -- eg, line caught, immediately bled and put on ice, processed and deep frozen for shipment. All fish is sushi-grade, and in most cases you get traceability back to the boat that caught it and the date of harvest. Does all of that matter? I maintain that it does ... for example I have never received a piece of fish from SSS that was bruised from rough handling, and that does indeed make a difference in taste and texture. If you are a fan of seafood check out their "Freezer Sale" -- right now I believe they have a salmon sampler and albacore tuna available. I bet that if you do give a freezer sale box a try, you will soon find yourself poring over their subscriptions trying to decide which one to pick. If it's not the best fish you've ever had? They have fabulous customer service, contact them and surely they will do right by you. As for me? I expect I will be a subscriber for life.

Recently for lunch, I chose their Wagyu Meatloaf Sandwich, paired with spicy ketchup, provolone and crispy onion strings on a grilled artisan white bun. The side of Mayo aoli is a great topping too! Sitting inside and watching the chefs prepare the crepes is a delight, but a beautiful afternoon calls for a relaxing meal on their ivy lined patio! The dining area is small, you likely cannot accommodate a larger group without a lengthy wait. We arrived around noon on a Sunday and waited about 15 minutes for a table. They provided a pager and indicated you could walk a 3-block radius, then recommended some shops nearby. When our pager went off we were promptly seated. Tables area is tight, there is not a lot of room to spread out. Our server came quickly and was friendly and accommodating. There are separate menus for breakfast and lunch/dinner. Options include crab cakes, Belgian waffles, paninis, pastas, and of course sweet or savory crepes. There are many options that are either gluten free or can be offered gluten free. The bread is homemade which always a bonus. We ordered a GF Turkey Melt, a Bacon & Cheddar Waffle, and Pesto Chicken Pasta. Everything came quickly and was delicious. We would all order what we had again, but with the expansive menu would be excited to try other options also. Many items on the menu can also be ordered in a smaller portion for a reduced price as well. I did this with my pasta, as I wanted to save room for a sweet crepe. For dessert, we ordered a Nutella Strawberry Crepe, a Black Forest (minus the cherry) Crepe, and the Hot Fudge Crepe (half portions). The Black Forest and hot fudge were filled with vanilla Hagan Dass ice cream. They were all so delicious and I recommend saving room to try one. They also offer their coffee beans to take home (and will grind them if desired) in half or full pound bags. The Praline Pecan is really lovely. Overall, if you are in the area, definitely give this place a try! It would be hard to be disappointed.
