The chicken wings had no flavor. They were not seasoned. The sauce which I had on the side didn't make it much better.

We arrived for lunch on a Saturday and they had a steady flow of patrons at the tables and ordering. Though slightly understaff, they watch as a team from taking orders, providing your dreams, preparing the order and servicing it. And they came around to see if you anything else and pick up our empty plates. 3.5 Stars Ambiance is low key and chill. Tables and bathrooms were clean and the music wasn't loud. This establishment continues to honor a 10% military discount. I believe this discount also applies to law-enforcement and first responders. Just make sure you ask for it and you may have to show your ID. Food 3 Stars I ordered the Choose 2. You can choose a sandwich, potato, and a side dish. Such as chips, mac & cheese, chili, or other side dish. Some side dishes cost more. My order was a half of a Max Spud and a cup of chili. The spud comes with cheese, black olives, green onions, and some diced ham on it. The spud was a decent size for a half potato. Can't go wrong with a cup of chili - meat chili. Wifey ordered the New Yorker, which is a Reuben on rye bread and a bag of chips. It was good. Iff you'd like Neil she may want to order an extra one. So if you live in Meridian or close to town, this is a place to go to. If you're driving through on I 20 this is also a good place to make a pitstop. you'll enjoy the food.

Weidmann's Restaurant - Peanut butter and Ritz crackers on the table

We had Felix's Special--Shrimp Remoulade Salad with a grilled pimento cheese and applewood smoked bacon sandwich on sourdough. Both were very good: fresh shrimp, and a well-toasted sandwich with smoky bacon and melted pimento cheese. Service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was pleasant. Since 1870, Weidmann's has welcomed everyone from railroad workers and weary travelers to soldiers and hometown heroes, earning its place in Mississippi's history. Founded by Swiss immigrant Felix Weidmann, the restaurant opened during Meridian's rise as one of the South's busiest railroad crossroads. During World War I, the restaurant temporarily relocated to Hattiesburg to help feed the thousands of soldiers training at nearby Camp Shelby. One of its quirkiest traditions is the complimentary peanut butter and crackers brought to every table. During World War II, butter rationing led the restaurant to serve peanut butter and crackers instead. Customers loved it so much that the tradition continues more than 80 years later. In 1935, when brothers Al and Fred Key took to the skies in their airplane, Ole Miss, they weren't just chasing a world record--they were trying to save Meridian's airport from closing during the Great Depression. They spent an unbelievable 653 hours and 34 minutes--more than 27 days--without landing. They stayed aloft by pioneering air-to-air refueling techniques. Their record stood until astronauts aboard Skylab surpassed the duration in space in 1973. One of the celebrations honoring their historic flight took place right here at Weidmann's, forever connecting the restaurant to one of aviation's greatest achievements. I ordered the shrimp and grits, and they were outstanding. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, the grits were creamy and full of flavor, and every bite tasted fresh and homemade. Of course, you can't leave without trying their famous peanut butter and crackers--a tradition that's become part of the restaurant's history. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was warm and full of character, and you can tell they take pride in preserving this historic landmark. If you appreciate great Southern food and places with a story to tell, Weidmann's is absolutely worth the stop.
