    Reuben sandwich
    Dawn R.

I haven't eaten at a McAllisters in years due to the price. But I was feeling like splurging for a lunch, so stopped in after buying something at the Merle Norman next door. I decided on a Reuben sandwich combo. I was disappointed they didn't offer fries since it was to go and they didn't seem to offer anything except chips that you can eat in the car. The gal was nice taking my order. The problem was the sandwich. I paid over $9 for the combo which did not include a drink. I'm not exaggerating when I say the meat that was supposed to be corned beef was the texture and seasoning of a flavored bologna. It was a corned beef wannabe. Nah, won't be back soon. In fact, the sandwich was so bad that's when it struck me I should take a photo and do this review.

Burnt the hell out of my sandwich, incompetent people can't even heat up a sandwich right

Hadn't been to a McAllister's in awhile! Food tasted great but had no wow factor!!!!! Paid $8.49 for a 6 inch sub? I feel my money could be better off spent somewhere else! Best subs ever still help ones to Penn station subs in my opinion!!!!!

    the receipt for the restaurant

We have a home in FL and SC. We placed orders in both states. While in FL I placed an order on the app but for some reason it changed my location back to this one in SC. We didn't realize it until we went to pick up our order in FL. The FL location told us that we had to call that store to get our money back and then had to order again with them and pay them again. I called this SC location which sent me to a call center. The lady said she would call the SC location, cancel my order and get me a refund. She said that the order was canceled and that the refund would be back on my credit card within 10 days. We never received our refund. When we got back to SC we placed an order with this location. When my husband picked it up he spoke to Lee the manager and she asked if she could just give us two complimentary cards for a meal. That was fine since it would equal what we had already paid them. A week or so later my husband goes there to place the order in person. He called me to speak with the cashier since I normally place it through the app and he didn't know what we get. I told the girl (Elizabeth is listed ask Host on receipt) what we wanted and even asked her to repeat it back to me to make sure it was right. My husband comes home and tells me that it's a good thing he checked the order. He has to eat gluten free food so he gets the gluten free bread. Well they gave him NO bread. He went back in and asked where his bread was. They give him the order again. He checks it again and now they have given him someone else's sandwich. Then the person making the sandwich plays dumb like they didn't know it was suppose to be gluten free even though it says it on the order. They even asked him if it was a choice or allergy that he was asking for GF bread. He said allergy. We asked for (2) 1/2 lemonade and 1/2 sweet tea drinks with slices of lemons. I even verified with the girl that she had it correct and she said yes. I take a drink and it was horrible. They gave us 1/2 sweet tea and 1/2 unsweetened tea. They did at least remember the slice of lemon. The drinks went down the sink. I was going to do their feedback survey but it says my code as already been used which is weird. We should have just been given our refund as we were promised. Instead we paid for stuff that wasn't what we wanted or ordered. We really enjoy eating at McAllisters in FL and was happy to see they were in SC also. This kind of service saddens us and makes us not want to eat there any more. At least not at this location.

Forgot avacados.... and that's what I got
    Amit A.

Don't come here!!! Should've looked at the stars on yelp before I came here. This place wasn't even busy!! The sandwich came out incorrect. I went back because they didn't put the "sliced" avacados on it. Well, a lady came back with the picture included. Enough said!!! Don't waste your money here. The management needs their head examined before this place goes out of business!! No quality control whatsoever.

Always fresh and tasty. Just overpriced and NOT the best tea in town. I can make the best tea in town by brewing some hot water, sugar and tea bags at home. Their loaded baked potato is really not loaded. It's got cheese, sour cream and bacon but it's minute amounts of each. I was so disappointed. They are in the same strip plaza as Shomars, their direct competition. Both restaurants are VERY similar and both similarly priced. This place does, however, have a GREAT outdoor sitting area. It was very nice sitting on their porch with the cool breeze recently since the temperature has gone down.

We were the third person in the restaurant with at least 4 employees behind the counter and it still took 30 minutes for us to get our food. What we were presented with was two overcooked potatoes and soup that both looked and tasted like there was not enough water added to the mix. I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and it was brown and thick. My mother ordered the bacon Spud that came with barely a whole strip of bacon. Our service was also very poor. We had to ask for refills, silverware, napkins, and chips for the soup. Overall, a very poor experience.

Never going back! Ripped me off again. Bacon, dried out scraps. Tomato, small partial soggy slice Gorgonzola? Where is it!??
    Julie H.

This was suppose to be their Turkey Cobb Sandwich. A slimy shaving of a tomato. Two small crumbles of Gorgonzola, ??maybe. A few small shards of dried out bacon, and they didn't even bother to put ant avocado on it. Ripped off again. Never going back. So nasty did not even attempt to eat it. Straight to the trash. I'm tired of their poor quality. They should be ashamed.

Two very tiny pieces of avocado in a little plastic dressing cup. Should have been 6 to 7 slices of avocado as shown on the website.

Totally yummy. For a side I had a substantial bowl of collard greens ($6), done perfectly. Wife had the meat loaf ($15) which was two large hamburger-sized pieces, wrapped in bacon and with a delicious sauce. She did not share them with me. One of those pieces came home with us. Continual iced tea was served for $2. A bit of history is in the hallway of the Kounter building. Nine Black college students served nearly 30 days detention on a prison farm after staging a sit-in at this South Carolina Whites-only restaurant in 1961. On a visit to Kounter in December, I was told by a waiter it's not uncommon to see some of the Friendship 9 eating at the restaurant. Drop by to ogle the menu and take in the historical display. Very interesting and a good insight as to where black people were back then.

We were a little confused as to how to enter the restaurant, but I chalk that up to being tired. The space is wide open and airy, with large windows and skylights. The restaurant was nice and clean, save for something that was splashed on the wall in our booth - but it's a restaurant. There's going to be little picky things here and there and I'm sure it was wiped down by the end of the day! Our hostess was also our server and she was so knowledgeable about the menu. I took her suggestions at every turn and did not regret it. We started off with the Bang Bang Brussels Sprouts app and let me tell you - I could've eaten that as my entire meal. They are SO delicious and I'll be dreaming of them until I can return to Rock Hill. Holy cow, they were good - crispy on the outside, loaded with flavor and just enough spice to give the sweetness a little bite. So good. My husband had the country fried steak and he said it was very good. Not the best he's ever had, he said, but good enough. He wished there'd been more steak and less crust, but the flavor was right on. They were out of the salt and pepper flounder, so I changed my order to the ranch chicken. Ummmm....excuse me. Who says not to order chicken breasts at restaurants? The portion size is SO generous and the chicken is SO DELICIOUS that I, the girl who rarely bothers to take leftovers, boxed up what was left and brought it back to my hotel and ate it as a midnight snack. The grilled zucchini served on the side of it was delicious. If I ever get back, I'll ask if I can skip the potatoes in favor of more of that zucchini! We didn't really have room for dessert, but when we heard about the warm banana pudding, we were curious. DO NOT SKIP THIS DESSERT. If you're a banana pudding fan, this will blow your mind. Absolutely incredible! It's both warm and cool at the same time, caramelized bananas and a torched meringue topping were bowl-licking delicious. All in all, this was a fantastic experience and I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Bartenders were really entertaining and I actually preferred it. We've had dinner there before and opted not to move to a table. Prime rib - Friday night special. AMAZING. 8 oz portion rare was juicy and so flavorful. Crust was peppery and delicious, perfect with savory heat from the horseradish cream. Mac and cheese was super creamy and just the right amount of pepper, made with shells, cheese pull galore. The collards were on point and packed with chunks of pork. The tri tip was sliced thin and stayed juicy but that chimichurri was the showstopper. It was fresh and spicy and totally made the dish! Beans were too smoky for me, hubby said they were good. Potato salad was solid but not sure any potato dish could top that Mac! Sparkling rose was just a teensy bit sweet, very refreshing and divine. Bartender said it's one of the best wines on their list. Hubby had Tito's and cranberry, also excellent. They have a good draft selection too. No oysters for us on this trip, but they did have a list and the raw bar was fully seated and enjoying them. We totally enjoyed oysters last time. Longer table down the middle would make it easy for large parties and they did have several large groups in as well. Overall it was a pretty energetic vibe with a fun but casual ambience. Dress it up if you like, but jeans are also okay. Games were on the three TVs at the bar, or maybe there were 4 TVs. Bartenders were fun to hang out with and provided all the menu recommendations and entertainment we could want.
