I really wanted to love this place. It is in a cute little house near my condo. However, the massage table squeaked during my entire massage. The constant squeaking sounds made it really not relaxing. Even the masseuse apologized, said it was really bad, and that she had mentioned it to the owner many times. Not only do they have the best hair stylists in South Beach (Lauren & Destiny being in the forefront), but their sensational massage services far exceeds what one would expect from this little jewel on Alton! Came here to get my eyelashes permed and they look exactly the same as they did before the perm. They have zero curl to them so I basically threw my $ away. Website says $40 but they tried to charge me $45. Do not come here for anything eyelash related as the girl does not know what she is doing. read more

I had a Morrocan Oil Manicure/Pedicure yesterday with Marlena. (sp) It is my first time at McAllister Spa for nails and it was an awesome experience. I am very anal about my nails, so much that I often do them myself. I NEVER let anyone file them and this time I let go and let her do it. She did an incredible job and filed them perfectly. In addition, she is very careful about polish application and got it perfect with nothing around the edges. I am incredibly impressed and will definitely be returning to get another one of these luxurius spa treatments. Not being new to South Beach, but at the same time there are so many options to choose from, however, I had the LUCK of going to the right place to the perfect hair salon for my Curly Hair! I arrived with confused hair, and left with an amazing haircut done by Mark, who was amazing, as well as super nice and very knowledgeable and answered all my questions about my hair!! The staff there were so friendly, and it's nice to see customer service still exist on SoBe! I lived in Miami Beach for two years and tried a lot of so called Spa's and Salons in the area to have my hair cut. I also travel quite a bit California, Texas, Florida, New York, etc. I have seen a lot of high end salons and had a lot of differrent folks cut my hair. Eddie A. provides the best haircut / styling I have ever had - anywhere. He listens to you, but also knows how to tweak the idea to make each person look their best. It is an art and a talent you rarely find. Even though I moved away from Miami Beach, Eddie A. is still one of my key reasons to return there whenever I can, when it is time for a haircut. read more

This place is amazing!!!! You need to go to Eddie, he is a total EXPERT and an artist with hair color! I went to McAllister after doing weeks of research on places that specialize in hair color in Miami beach. After sending photos and speaking with about five different salons I chose McAllister because Eddie seemed enthusiastic over the phone. I have naturally red hair and wanted an ombre to rose gold - a sort of pastel pink/peach color. Eddie was extremely well-prepared and professional; he had to mix the color from about six different shades. He did three different test pieces before I got there and when he was doing his consultation, he showed me the test strips so I could choose the exact shade / intensity. Then while my hair was bleaching he tested the batch he mixed that day just to make sure it was perfect. He did an incredible job with the ombre/bleach - there were absolutely no lines and he treated each section with extreme care and attention to detail. After he was finished with applying the color over the bleached sections (which came out GORGEOUS and exactly the perfect shade) he trimmed the ends so the color would show better, and then did the most perfect blowout. It was clear throughout how excited and passionate he is about his work. Overall: Eddie is extremely talented and professional - he will turn your hair into a work of art. read more

I have no idea who is filling out these positive reviews, most likely staff. This was the single WORST visit i've ever had to a salon...ever. I found the place on Gilt City and bought a spray tan and blow out. When I arrived I knew right away that the stylist was VERY new because she used ice cold water while shampooing my hair. She also didn't get the sides close to my scalp wet and left shampoo in the hair. I have hot head extensions (tape) and the stylist had never worked with them before. The manager came over and told me that my extensions looked like they needed to be re done, and I assured him that I get blowouts all the time and they were fine. The stylist then began to dry my hair, before brushing it out and rough drying it. The result was tugging on tangled hair and pulling one extension out at the root. I urged her to stop, and comb my hair out and use moroccan oil on it, and she used another product and a fine tooth comb. on wet hair. Another stylist seemed to be "coaching" her and reminded her to rough dry the hair first and put more product in. I literally felt like I was a hair model for a student. AN HOUR AND 15 MINS later my hair wasn't dry. As she did the front, it wasn't anything like I'd asked for.....so she asked the other guy to show her how to do it. He also couldn't figure out how to blow the hair out so the front framed my face. At that point I said I would like to leave and got up to go. The manager once again blamed my extensions....not sure what they have to do with a stylist who has no idea how to shampoo, use proper product and a wide tooth comb on wet hair and do a polished blow out....but rather than argue I skipped the spray tan and left. I went to Prive Salon at my hotel and the girl there fixed the front and did an amazing job. She also told me that I had SHAMPOO still in my hair. The next day I went back to Prive and she gave me and my "horrible" extensions an amazing blow out. Do NOT go to this salon....these reviews are totally off base. read more

I used yelp for searching for a last minute mani. They were very nice on the phone, attentive when I arrived and my appointment was on time. They could only fit me in for an express mani which was fine by me. The manicurist was so so. She filed and cut my cuticles but she never washed my hands so when she polished me there was nail dust along the sides of my nails and cotton threads at the ends of my nails as well as on my polished nails. She wouldn't talk and seemed a bit cold since I wasn't a regular as she was talkative with those she knew. It was ok the other staff was friendly but I don't think ill go back when I visit Miami. read more

Cute place and clean. The staff are awesome. The pedicure was great...the manicure was ok. Parking is a bit of a hassle because the parking space is so limited in front of the salon. I parked on the street and walked. It looks like they recently opened. The price was normal for south beach. I got gel mani and regular pedi. Overall relaxing and worth it. read more

My recent visit to McAllister was very much enjoyed. When I got there the pleasant receptionist offered me coffee and green tea. Nice welcoming. I went along to accompany a friend and was pleased that we could get our facials done together in the same room. The room was dim and calming steady rhythms played. McAllister offers first timers an express facial for $30 so that you could try them out without hesitation. Afterwards, I got a pedicure with Suzanne and picked out a sandy blue from a large selection of colors. She was easy to talk to and answered all of my questions patiently. It was nice to be able to walk away from there and be just a few blocks from Lincoln road to have lunch. The reason this spa didn't get the fifth star is because I was not able to get a manicure. They were all booked for the day so I recommend you call before you go. My pedicure was $35 but for $15 more I could have also had sandy blue finger nails. You should definitely make a reservation with Suzanne. :) read more

If you need hair color/highlights/touch up, ask for Lara Baracaia! She is definately a creative and experience Colorist. If you are visiting Miami and you didn't have time to see your regular hairdresser, you can feel very comfortable letting Lara polish up your color until you get back home. She is a veteran professional, fast, and very fun to visit with while your hair is processing. If you live in Miami, I recommend you make this spa experience a regular appointment, when you need your color brightened up by Lara. Don't you work hard and aren't you worth it? read more

I've had lots of massages and so far and this is the best one! Compared to the other more flashy hotel spas, this is a bit of a hole-in-the wall but like most hole-in-the-walls - it was much better! The staff was incredibly friendly and super helpful. We were from out of town and the guy who was ringing us up took the time to write down lots of local restaurants and places to go out at night. The only criticism would be that because it was a smaller spa, they had to do our services two at a time. Since there was four of us, it took a long hours to get through 2 massages and 2 facials. Small price to pay for excellant massages, great coffee while waiting, and really friendly service! read more
