The Christmas decorations were wonderful and this past weekend they had the Lunar New Year celebration, with many additional pop-up vendors in the street (closed off for pedestrians). We enjoyed walking, talking and exploring all the additional vendors and also the people (and dog) watching was top notch. Judging by the crowd turnout, I would say that this was a successful event, and I hope they add more events like this going forward. Many great restaurants, shops, craft stores and plaza entertainment. Water fountains and train rides for the kids (and some adults too). Whether you come here to dine, shop or just hang out and enjoy the weather with others, this place is a solid choice.

I did not spend too much time here to explore, it was just a terminal bus hub to transfer between different SoCal bus services I utilized on my last trip flying to Ontario Airport (the lesser known one in California, not the one in Canada) and heading to LA County. Going on a tangent: So from my personal experience and also to prove that it can be done frugally, I booked the cheapest flight I could find ($20 on Frontier and opted out of all of their up charges for a one-way flight from LAS to ONT) with just my half empty backpack, then $2 for Bus 61 from the airport to this location to catch a transfer on Bus 482 ($1.75) to get to Puente Hills Mall. Time in the air about 50 minutes, and almost 2 hours riding on the buses and waiting for the transfer. The total opposite of glamorous travel, but it is definitely doable. Never did the broke college backpacking overseas routine when I was younger, but I think this qualifies as a similar experience with the aid of apps to plan and navigate your way around. So 3 stars. As a terminal stop for multiple bus lines and routes, this place is definitely A-Ok. And is a scenic location for modeling photoshoot as you can see from the Yelp photos uploaded for this "business".

Pomona station is served by Amtrak's Sunset Limited/Texas Eagle and the Metrolink Riverside Line…read more This is one of two train stations in Pomona, the other being Pomona-North station, which is served by Metrolink's San Bernardino Line. If you visit the Amtrak website and look at the page about Pomona station, you'll see that it describes the station as "Train Station - Platform only (no shelter)" which is strange because when I visited, there was definitely a station building! I peeked through the window and saw a waiting area with benches and a drinking fountain. I tried the door, and it was locked, but then a security guard noticed me and asked me what I needed. I asked if there was a bathroom I could use, and he hesitated and said no and that the station was currently closed, which leads me to think the station does indeed open but probably only right before there's an Amtrak train scheduled to depart or arrive. I was there on a Wednesday at around 8:30 PM whereas the Amtrak train only departs Pomona thrice weekly (on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays) and not until 10:41 PM. Anyway, the security guard then told me if I really needed to go, "honestly, I'd just go in the bushes over there." I had a good laugh about this, and I eventually did find a restroom and did not have to go in the bushes. The building itself looks nice from the outside. It's built in the Spanish Colonial Revival style with red clay roof tiles and stucco walls, and it feels very southern California. More eye-catching, though, is the pedestrian bridge, which allows you to get from one side of the tracks to the other. There are teal domes adorning either end and similarly colored wrought-iron gating throughout. My research shows that this bridge was a $1.3 million project! In terms of the layout of the tracks, if you're taking a Metrolink train, you actually will NOT be waiting station-side. All Metrolink trains (inbound and outbound) board on the opposite side by W 1st St. Amtrak trains board station-side. Also by the station is the Pomona Transit Center, which is served by several Foothill Transit buses including Silver Streak.

Chino Hills State Park has become one of my favorite places in Southern California, especially…read moreduring wildflower season. After only about a ten-minute hike, I was rewarded with incredible views of green rolling hills stretching toward snow-covered mountains in the distance. The contrast was stunning and felt more like something out of a painting than Orange County. What makes this park special is how quickly you can find yourself surrounded by open space and quiet. You don't need to be an experienced hiker to enjoy it. Even short walks can lead to beautiful scenery, wildlife sightings, and some fantastic photography opportunities. This visit will always be particularly meaningful to me because I brought my Golden Retriever, Christy, with me. Looking back, it ended up being her last adventure before mobility issues began limiting her ability to get out and explore. I'm grateful we were able to share a day like this together while she was still able to enjoy the trails, the fresh air, and the sunshine. For me, Chino Hills State Park isn't just a beautiful place to hike. It's a place tied to one of my favorite memories with a very good dog. I'll always be thankful for that.

The drive into the park and throughout can be a bit sketchy at parts because there are times when the road is so narrow, only one car can pass at a time. They have small turnouts, but it got interesting at some places. You also have to watch out for hikers that are parking down the road and walking into the park to avoid the entrance fee. The ranger at the entrance was very friendly and helpful. He handled the exchange for the $10 entrance fee. You can pay online with their QR Code, but I didn't have service, and they also charge you an additional $0.55 service fee for that service. There are restrooms right at the entrance. The facilities are well-kept and stocked, which we all appreciated. We parked near the Rolling M Ranch Campground. Looks like a decent camping area. They don't allow campfires though. There were campsites available. We started out hiking Ranger Ridge Trail, then swung down to Raptor Ridge Trail. Whew! My quads and calves were BURNING! Those are some steep climbs there! These particular trails are also very narrow with a ton of overgrowth. I was glad I wore long-sleeves, but should have worn pants because the brush tore my legs up a bit. There's also a ton of foxtails and they kept getting stuck in the top of our shoes. Ouch! When we swung back down to Telegraph Canyon Trail, that was wide enough for us all to walk together and had nice spots of shade. That trail was well maintained. There are a ton of hiking trails here. I'd be willing to keep coming back to explore more!

Odd place, but worth it for people looking to explore new photo spots. It's just a very small section outside. Egyptian hieroglyphics and feeling like you are someplace abroad for a moment. This is just one odd building in a rare spot. Maybe the developer didn't get funding during and after pandemic to build something else here or expand from the idea. It's unique. There were contractors working inside/maintenance work. Nothing to see other than exterior of building. Good photo spot. The U.S. needs to build more unique spots like this or more local museums would be pretty cool. Free public viewing. Good work of art to appreciate.

I Googled it and it turns out to be an uncompleted Egyptian themed restaurant. They finished the outside which is an exact replica of an actual temple in Egypt, but because of COVID the construction of the interior was delayed. However, as of 2026 it still isn't open. Anyway, today we went to a nearby restaurant and figured that since this was so close, we might as well visit it again. It really is impressive from the details to its huge scale, which is most apparent when someone is standing next to the sculptures. This time around we met 3 elderly Filipina women who were excited to be there. I offered to take their picture and they took ours. Then it turned into a conversation about where we were from and where they were from. It was a true tourist interaction even though we never got on a plane. We went during a heat wave, so it truly felt like we were in Egypt, so all of us quickly took pictures, then went back inside our air conditioned cars. I hope that they're able to complete the restaurant because I'm curious to see what the inside will look like, but for now even just the outside is fun to look at and take pictures of.
