We were here on a Tuesday night, which is jam night. The band was pretty pathetic. They played blues endlessly, with way too many harmonica solos They let people come up and sing and play their instruments, their abilities were below par. The band should be smarter about who they let play and sing and when they allow them to do so. Our waitress lost our tab and caused us to wait an extra 5 to 10 minutes because she couldn't find it. She knew what we ordered and she searched everywhere high and low for the check, but I don't see that it's right to make the customer wait because you don't know what you're doing. I won't return unless they get a new house band that plays well. read more

Sever did not give us our drinks for 40 minutes. Never got our food. Waited for over two hours. Terrible service. Sever blamed bar tender and kitchen staff. This is unacceptable for a slow sever to blame the other staff. Don't eat here unless you have all the time in the works to WAIT. read more

The drinks are really good, I had a cape codder . It was really well made. Service was excellent. Mashed potatoe Texture was too purées for my taste . But they were well seasoned and tasted fine , I was just not a fan of the texture. The chicken is the star of this meal! The chicken was super moist, even the breast was moist. The skin was crisp , well seasoned and not greasy. But this chicken becomes a super star as a left over . Ugh. We've tried to eat here two other times and should have taken the hint. I don't know why it's so popular, but it's normally packed. We went on a Sunday around 5 pm and there were few customers. We understand that staff is low, but this was still pretty bad. Our appetizer was the chips and dip...and I could've run to get it at Publix and been faster. $8.99?! So not worth it. We split the Beef on Weck and couldn't even eat the bun because it was so incredibly salty. So we basically paid for slightly warm roast beef. Again, so not worth it. Silverware didn't come with a fork or even come until we had to ask for it. The table next to us got their "world famous chicken". While that looked delicious, it was interesting how it came out well before our meal when they were seated after us and the menu states that it takes extra time. Watch your lime/lemon when orders drink. Our lime had a weird slimy substance on it when it was served. And the bartender actually asked if we wanted another one. Really?? Also, we had to take it inside to the bartender because our waitress was no where to be seen. So disappointed to have spent the time and money. Ugh. read more

We have been going to this tavern for years just to have the fried chicken. Since it is now under new ownership, we were skeptical of whether the chicken would be the same. We ate there this week and the chicken is still as awesome as ever. One thing has changed though. The service has greatly improved!!!! The servers are smiling and helpful as opposed to the service in the past. Chandra was our server and she was pleasant, smiling and helpful. We will be back. read more

I stopped in the Villages to see an old friend. He suggested this place. All reviews recommend the fried chicken so my husband ordered it. He really liked it. I went off the beaten path with the Shepards Pie. It was delicious. We are outside since it was a cool day. The inside was quite large with a bar and stage. SLOW waiting forever for food and the place wasn't even full. You would think appetizers would come out in less than 20 minutes. Food was about an hour. Charges for a 20oz beer served in a 18oz red plastic cup. Good thing they are a restaurant, they would be out if business as a food truck. read more

We've been here three times this week. The fried chicken was amazing with great sides. However, the first night, Samantha the bartender constantly coughed into her hand, then went about making the drinks. Tonight, Scott the bartender is coughing into his hand, wiping his nose with his hand and making drinks. This is disgusting!! Why is management not all over this?! read more

I absolutely love this restaurant! The food is incredible no matter what you order. The fried chicken is their specialty (which is amazing) but everything is great. The best part however, is Vickie the bartender! She is so sweet, welcomes you, and makes you feel as if you are part of the family as she serves up the coldest beer and best drinks around! When you are in the area, just remember fried chicken and Vickie! You can thank me later! Lol read more

We went there because we heard the fried chicken was so good....and it was BUT we waited forever. There were extremely unorganized! They need good management badly. The music is way too loud and the tables are all crowded in. The wait staff was not friendly and didn't seem to want to be there. It's sad because the food was decent. read more

McCall's is one of the Villagers best kept secrets. No ambiance, very noisy but we go there for the best fried chicken dinner, and the best fried pork tenderloin sandwich around here. If you are looking to eat something other than the fried chicken or pork you are going to be disappointed. read more

As McCall's is listed with 2 addresses at the same location within Yelp, I am posting my review at both. Went here on 10/5/19, arriving around 4:25 pm. Placed our order for their "famous" fried chicken and joked with the waitress that we knew we'd have to be patient as each order is cooked to order (takes approx 20 minutes). Saw the waitress go into the kitchen at 4:35 with our order. By 5pm we asked her to check on our meal as we thought we saw other diners receive their chicken dinners already. By 5:10 one table that had some in substantially after us (easily 4:45 or later) were receiving their chicken dinners. I asked the waitress to get us a Manager. She went into the Managers office and moments later when the Manager left the office to join the floor she immediately went over to a table celebrating a birthday party, did whatever glad handing there (processing their birthday discount?), then proceeded to another table. At this point I got up and went to where the Manager was standing to advise her that my father and I would be leaving. She had the audacity to say that she hadn't had a chance yet to come over at which time I told her she should be ashamed at her lack of care. On the way out of the restaurant my father fell and once again where was the Manager? Nowhere. The 2 waitresses that were assisting my dad were very solicitous in making sure he was ok and had requested that we wait around so that we could fill out an incident report. At this point there was no way we were sticking around. Needless to say we were extremely upset at the treatment (or lack thereof) by the manager and wound up going to Publix where we purchased fried chicken plus sides and enjoyed it immensely. By the way, my dad is 85 and diabetic not that they cared. Wasn't sure if I could post a review with zero (0) stars so reluctantly have given it one star. Can't imagine that we would ever return here or recommend it to anyone. read more
