The food was okay. Perfectly respectable. The kind of meal where you nod, say, "Yeah, that's pretty good," and continue living your life. The rice was a little dry, but flavorful enough to avoid prosecution. The hummus was good. The fries were solid. The lamb was easily the star of the meal and, for a brief shining moment, all was right with the world. Then came the beer. Halfway through drinking it, I discovered the glass was cracked. Not scratched. Not chipped in some charming artisanal way. Cracked. So now dinner had unexpectedly become a game of "Did I Just Drink From Broken Glass?" I pointed it out to the bartender, assuming the response would be fairly straightforward: apology, fresh glass, full replacement beer, perhaps a quiet acknowledgment that drinking vessels should generally remain in one piece. Instead, I received a replacement beer that was about two-thirds full. Sir. We have moved beyond beer accounting. You just served me a drink in a cracked glass. I had already consumed half of it before noticing. I could have cut my lip, swallowed something I definitely did not order, or spent the rest of the evening wondering whether my next stop was home or urgent care. And somehow, in the middle of all that, we still found time to save approximately one-third of a beer. I wasn't asking for ownership of the restaurant. I wasn't demanding reparations from the Greek government. I just wanted one complete, unbroken beer. The food was okay. Good food-truck-level okay. The lamb was genuinely very good. But the cracked glass followed by the carefully rationed replacement turned an otherwise ordinary meal into a minor Greek tragedy. And perhaps that is where the lesson lives. For what is a man, really, but a temporary vessel wandering through an indifferent universe, hoping only that his hummus is creamy, his lamb is tender, and the vessel holding his beer is not actively trying to murder him? The ancient Greeks warned us about hubris. I always assumed they meant kings challenging the gods. Perhaps they meant bartenders looking at a cracked beer glass and thinking, "Two-thirds should cover it." Somewhere, Dionysus wept. But maybe the missing third of that beer was not a loss at all. Is one-third of a beer really worth carrying anger home? No. Life moves fast enough. Slow down. Enjoy the lamb. Laugh at the absurdity. Appreciate that the glass failed in its assassination attempt. Sometimes the universe takes a little more beer than seems fair. Let it. Be positive. And like all great Greek heroes, I escaped with my life, my dignity... slightly less beer than I was owed. Service was good and the food was ok. But it was hard to enjoy the meal due to the high volume of the band that they had in their outdoor dining area. It was as loud as listening from the front row of the bands that play in the square - which might be ok if we were there to listen to the band. The noise level outdoors was more than we could tolerate so we ate indoors. Even indoors the waitress had to shout to be heard. Overall not a pleasant experience. Unfortunately my wife likes the food so we may go back sometime when they don't have a band and we can eat in the much more pleasant outdoor seating area. read more

My husband and Ihad a wonderful experience at dinner Wednesday night. Our waitress, Kristen was extremely pleasant. Our drinks were good(priced well). Order the mussels for appetizers. Delicious!! My husband had the chicken kabobs special, also very good. I ordered the garlic feta chicken wings and a Greek salad to share. The chicken wings were a bit under cooked, very pink and red. I asked if they could cook them more. Kristen politely explained they could not re cook them, but would gladly get me another order. The next batch were absolutely delicious! The place is TINY inside so I can see it getting loud on a busy night. Service is attentive and the food is yummy. It is a little far from where I live, but it was worth the drive. It is the only Greek place in the area. The chicken kebabs was super tender and deliciously seasoned. Living next to Eastport our only similar option is Yamas for a full service Mediterranean restaurant. Amerikanos is leagues above Yamas and worth the trip due to the food quality and prices. I tried the lamb gyro platter and liked the seasoning of the meat and large portion. My husband had a side Greek salad with his entree and was delighted to find a scoop of potato salad on top of the salad. Our friends advised that the potato salad on the salad is a "Florida thing" - definitely recommend. Looking forward to going back and trying more items. read more

I came here with my grandparents for lunch, and our server, Kylie, was so friendly and had great knowledge of the menu and its items. I have a gluten sensitivity, and she helped me pick something that I would enjoy, and the chicken kebabs were amazing. I ordered the gyro platter and they ordered the chicken pita and chicken kebabs. We each loved our meals and they came out quick too. I really liked the gyro platter because it came with a fresh Greek salad, rice and tzatziki sauce. The service was really quick even though they were packed and our waitress was really nice and accommodating. The salad was excellent with tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions bursting with freshness. I loved the feta, olives, and dressing. It was a delicious salad. The gyro wrap was maybe the most tasty gyro EVER. Sometimes gyro meat can be a little dry after miles of rotating on a skewer. This generous portion of sliced gyro was the opposite; moist and flavorful. The wrap was soft, and the lettuce and tomatoes inside were perfect. The tzatziki sauce was the perfect condiment. My wife ordered the Gyro Plate which was basically a decomposed Gryo wrap. She was also impressed with her choice. I highly recommend. Amerikanos has the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a night on the square. They're close enough to the Spanish Springs town square to enjoy the live music at night. They have heaters out on their patio, so you can enjoy the space year round. The food we loved: -fried calamari -gyro -Mediterranean pasta -Greek salad The pasta was to die for. The perfect oil base and the vegetables were perfectly cooked and mixed in. Our server was amazing and even went above and beyond when figuring out the bill at the end of the night. Sorry, but we tried. We had out of town company and wanted to show off Americano's. We arrived at about 2:45 pm. We were given a beeper to let us know when a table would be ready. But, we saw lots of tables open and yet we waited..... After 20 minutes of waiting, we went to Ruby Tuesday to eat. Ya, sorry, but we didn't want to wait longer. We usually love this place. Maybe the staff should stagger their lunch times.....or simply tell people that their wait time will be 20-30 minutes. We will steer clear during their lunch times and this may be good for others to keep in mind. Several months ago, we chatted with one of the owners and we know how hard she works on building the business. So, please know that we don't want to hurt your business, but rather inform you that you need a fix for this situation, and I don't know what can be done. It may be better to let people sit and inform them that there is a slight delay until 3:00 pm or something like that. I know how much you advertise and of course, nothing hurts a restaurant more than bad reviews. Usually I would give you 4 or 5 stars. Normally I also post on Trip Advisor, but I won't this time. We were very disappointed that we have to go elsewhere for a late lunch.... We WILL be back and will bring other visitors with us. read more

We've eaten here a few times now and have done take out. It's consistently good. The Gyro and Gyro salad are wonderful and have a ton of meat. Stopped in for dinner the first night visiting my parents. The place was very busy and we were told there would be about a 20 minute wait. Much to our surprise, they were able to get us seated within 5 minutes if we didn't mind a table outside where the heater was broken. Our waitress was really friendly but incredibly busy. We ordered an appetizer since we were starving, the falafel and hummus. The falafel was so good! For our entrees I ordered the butterflied shrimp, my mom and husband both ordered the Philly cheesesteak, and my dad ordered the Ruben. All of our meals were excellent. My parents said everything they've ordered from there has always been really good. We would definitely come back the next time we are in The Villages, but hopefully on a warmer day! read more

Since Chili's DIDN'T WANNA wait on us... and we left - ended up going to Amerikano's. YUM! Sat at the bar and Ryan was one of the bartenders who helped us - he's amazing!! Friendly, knowledgeable, helpful - big smile and big personality! We ordered the bar menu chicken quesadillas and my husband LOVED THEM! He said the flavor was spot on! We love this place. It's busy and loud but great atmosphere. Sitting outside listening to music is the best. My husband can smoke his cigar if he wants. The Philly cheesesteak sandwich is the best one we ve found since moving here. The star is the steak kabobs. Very tender and flavorful. My only complaint is about the Greek salad. They put hard cooked eggs in their Greek potato salad which isn't typical for that. Eggs aren't my thing so this eliminates one of my favorites. read more
