Somethings I wish I would have known in 2021/2022 when we had the Hunter Douglas auto shades…read moreinstalled with Rebarts. 1. Only Rebarts can come out and fix them after installation - it is a 150.00 "site visit fee" every time they need to come look at them if a motor breaks, etc. In addition to the fee to actually fix the shade. 2. Make sure they are measured exact, examine every shade before it goes in. Look for frayed sides, weird angles, and verify every shade goes up and down with no issues multiple times before you let anyone leave. One of the motors was not working properly when it arrived, instead of allowing them to install and wait for a new one I should have rejected the order and waited for it to be fixed. It took a LOT of back and forth and time to get things fixed properly - it was not a great experience. 3. The motors can be unreliable - YouTube videos to help with rebalancing etc. aren't really helpful, so you end up having to pay the $150.00 fee + any fix costs once a year or so to get someone out to fix them. - Budget for this. ** (I'm actually waiting to schedule someone to come out now because one of our major room shades just stopped working)** 4. Everyone is really nice, they look nice, and I like the auto timer feature! 5. if you have kids, make sure the area around the blinds is clear before opening and closing! If we change things up in a few years, I don't think I will go with the same type, but they are nice for now.

We had ordered two blinds from Hunter Douglas. During the installation, Stephanie measured the windows dimensions wrong and brought one that was shorter. So only 1 blinds was installed that day. Stephanie apologized and we scheduled another time for installation to take place. Not the best experience here but understandable. Stephanie did have to reschedule this installation which made this experience a bit more frustrating as we were without blinds for one part of our living space for a couple of weeks. The thing that really made it a terrible experience was that Stephanie never provided us with the battery charger, to the point that we didn't even know we had one. It was only when we needed to charge the batteries for the blinds that we realized we were missing one. We reached out to Stephanie regarding this and she placed the blame politely on us saying "I believe I left a charger with you" and letting us know the pricing for one. We had to reiterate that we never received a charger from her and had to ask a few times for Stephanie to check her records before she realized and admitted to her mistake and lack of organization, stating that they did not purchase a charger for us, she still mentioned that they were around $55 but would cover the cost? Which is quite a disappointing and ineffective response since we already paid for a charger that ws never sent in the 1st place. We had to follow up a few times with Stephanie since the charger took a while to be shipped. This has been a very frustrating and stressful experience. Stephanie communications has been poor to say the least, not to mention her lack of awareness. We definitely would not recommend using Stephanie in the future.

Steven is super professional and friendly. I did some research beforehand and sort of know what I was looking for. Steven had an excellent catalogue for me to browse. I was able to find what I was looking for and interestingly was able to match the color (even a bit on the texture) between two types of blinds that I signed up with. As with all other business, the supply chain has been impacted by COVID. But blinds arrived within reasonable timeframe as originally discussed (i.e. within a week). Steven reached out when window treatments arrived and came in installed them without a glitch. One of the blinds I used often (mostly around breakfast time) and was in need of repair, Steven was very responsible and came in dealt with the issue very quickly. This is a trustworthy company, providing quality products while keeping you in budget. You can do your research. I am happy that I made the right choice for me.

And when one of the second set of repaired shaded came back, the cheap plastic handle was broken off. The workmanship is not there and the repairs are costly and time consuming. We used Bay Area Window for four skylight shades…read more Design (Aleksandra): 5/5 Aleksandra was communicative and responsive throughout the process. She provided meaningful options and we are happy with the design. We discussed with Aleksandra that we wanted the shades installed as close to our skylights as possible, and she confirmed with the installer that that was possible. Install (David): 2/5 We did a walkthrough with David and again explained that we wanted the shades as close to our skylights as possible. He asked, and we told him, that we also wanted the solar recharging panels to be on the side where the shade collected when opened (so the panels would be less visible). To be fair, David warned us that he would likely scratch the walls and may leave gaps because the coverage around our skylights was uneven. Both of those came to pass (which I am separately fixing), but that is not why we are unhappy with the install. Rather: - Despite the fact our ceiling is flat and our skylights are flat, David installed the shades at a slight angle. When I confronted him about it, he stated he was trying to follow the wall around the skylight. I disagree that his approach accomplished that. In any event, if there were options as to how the shades were going to be installed, we believe David should have conferred with us before unilaterally making a decision. - David also installed the solar panels on the opposite side of where we discussed. David stated he had no recollection of our prior conversation. We disagree that we never discussed this, but as above, if there were options, we believe David should have checked with us before installing. After confronting David about the shade with the most severe angle he begrudgingly reinstalled it (photos attached). Aleksandra did offer a partial refund and offered to have David come back out and reinstall the shade. However, we do not have the availability to monitor David the entire time he is here, which appears to be the only way to ensure things are done as we discussed. Additionally, the 3 of the 4 corner covers have fallen from the shade that David reinstalled and we do not relish the same thing happening to the other shades. The upshot is Aleksandra is easy to work with, but if you get David to do your install you may want to supervise his work.
