We bought our home in November and the roof was old and had a lot of moss and algae build up. The roof and gutters were the first thing I wanted replaced once the weather warmed up. I started my search for a roofing company. After several estimates we decided on McCollum. We couldn't be more satisfied. Bobby and his team did an excellent job and only took them two days to strip the roof and put everything down new. The roof is GAF certified and the warranty is excellent. They used Timberline shingles.McCollum was professional and kept us informed every step of the way. Our home looks updated and newer with our roof and gutters and we were given a fair price. Had a very good experience with McCollum Roofing & Siding. We noticed a little paint bubbling up towards the front of our house. Contacted McCollum on a recommendation from our handyman. Bobby came out right away. Said there were some minor gaps in the shingles leading to leaks. He could patch, but the roof was nearing end of life and we should budget for a new one int he future. If we wanted to get a new roof, he would patch ASAP for free and fit us in for a new roof when his team was available. The patch was a reasonable quote, but the full roof was too (compared to what we had heard from neighbors). So we went that route knowing we'd need it eventually anyway. After one snow related delay, his team came out and worked a long full day to complete what was supposed to be a 2-day job in a 1-day. They were professional and respecful. They cleaned up thoroughly. Aside from the loud banging, we wouldnt have know they were here. The dumpster wasn't picked up until the next day, so Bobby came by personally to clean up again after it was. Communication throughout the whole process was great--from the inspection to the patch leading up to the actual job. During the job, I asked them if they could take a look at my noisy attic fan. They quoted me for a replacement, but after looking at it told me I didn't need one--it was just loose, so they affixed it more securely for free and no more noise. Only time will tell how good a job they did. But they're a certified GAF installer and the shingles come with a 50-year warranty. So we're hoping that we never have to worry about this roof again as long as we live here. read more

While I have homes in Beverly Hills and the east coast where I had serious water leak in the winter of 2013 that damaged my new bathroom's ceiling and walls due to my absence. Thus during this winter, I am staying in the east coast to be vigilant guarding our home against the elements. Three weeks ago, I had the roof of our big house (4800 sq ft) at Short Hills cleared of major ice built up. We also needed a water diverter to keep away the melting ice running down our cedar siding. Bobby McCullum, the owner's son, came immediately even in the subzero weather, spent hours working on our roof, and helped us avert major damages during this record cold February. I have had the opportunity to observe Bobby's professional skills as well as interpersonal style. He is consistently pleasant and tackle the job with dedication. As a result, I have requested routine roof maintenance services with this company. I have dealt with services and contractors all these years maintaining my houses, it's hard to get good, reliable workers. After receiving several estimates for a new roof and gutters for our home, we decided to go with McCollum. We were swayed by the online reviews, Bobby's (the owner) pleasant manner, the competitive rate, and the fact that they've been in business for over 35 years -- something very important when considering a roofer. I've heard horror stories of hiring contractors who go out of business or change their business' name around the 10 year mark - just when your roof needs servicing - so you can't get a hold of them to honor warranties or repairs. Needless to say, we were not disappointed with McCollum. Though they were a bit backed up due to the onslaught of rains we've had in the area, Debbie (the account manager) was communicative about when the job would get started. When they were finally able to begin, the guys showed up early and ready to work. Though they stripped the roof down to the boards, everyone was very careful to protect our property and kept the work site clean. When I had questions about materials or the work being done, Bobby was always there to answer them and consult with me. Unbelievably, undeniably unprofessional. Yes, they put on a new roof but the damage they did to our property was extensive; broken stair rails, broken plants, yard art destroyed (and pieces removed to hide the damage from us), destroyed paint on side of our home, just to name a few things. Further, they left our soffits in shambles- open and broken pieces of wood everywhere. When the job was "finished" I asked why they didn't include the soffits in the roof price or give us an opportunity to have them fixed. They told me it wasn't included in the roof price. Fair enough- but now the job had to be done by someone. I asked them to give me a quote, they said they would and then later told us they didn't have time to do the work. Here is an excerpt of the email that we received from the company when I pointed out the problems we found with our property and also that I thought it was unprofessional that they reneged on giving us an estimate to fix the soffits after doing the damage to them "So then why did u pay me? Your either lying or u have selective hearing. Bottom line is ur soffit is rotted and it's not part of the roof job. Ur bothered because I don't want to do any more work.
