I just rolled in here from out of town and discovered a great local cafe. My omelette was cooked to perfection served with toast, and I helped myself to the JOE which is very good especially considering it is a help yourself. We walked from our hotel to McCormick's on a Sunday morning and had a delightfully simple breakfast of the steel cut oats and coffee. They were so good that we stopped by again on a Wednesday morning for the same thing, except that one of us had a very nice latte. The staff was friendly, in particular Mike. The atmosphere was open, warm, neat and not too crowded. We were there at about 8:30 am. We would definitely recommend this cafe to anyone. read more

Self service cafe. I came here because I stayed at a hotel around the corner. The food was ok but the service wasn't that great. If your looking for a full service restaurant look somewhere else because this is a self service cafe. You order and pay at the front counter, sit in any of the few dirty tables and pour your own coffee. The servings aren't that big in case your hungry you might want to try another restaurant. read more

After several less than satisfying experiences, I have finally eaten here for the last time. I ordered the banana pancakes and waited for over an hour to get my food. What they put on my plate was appalling and frankly insulting. The pancakes were tasteless and cool. The banana was literally rotten--completely brown-black and mushy. The fact that someone would slice a rotten banana and put it on someone's plate is unbelievable--if you don't have decent bananas, just tell people at the time of ordering. I found it very difficult to eat anything on the plate because looking at the bananas made me gag. read more

I ordered breakfast today at McCormick Cafe. I was given a mug for the coffee I ordered and my grand daughter ordered tea. We were given a number to take to our table and we let the cashier know where we were sitting in the room by the old phone. People came in after us and as tables changed and the people whom arrived after us were served and ate, we wondered if we ordered something difficult to cook. Finally, we started feeling a little uncomfortable and embarrassed so we asked about our order. We were told they had just gotten our order ready but did not serve it because they did not know our name or where to serve it. The lady whom was working the register told me the mistake was my fault because they did not know our name. She added that this also happens all the time and that I should be happy they packaged our order, and gave me a refund as I asked for one so I could go somewhere else. I am very concerned if this type of service happens all of the time at McCormick Cafe. I have been going in their over the past years and I have never experienced such an humiliation. The lady at the counter added if I felt so bad I could just throw the breakfast away If I wanted to. And with such a bad experience, I did not want to make it any worse by eating a plate of cold eggs. I did throw the sack of food away as I did not want to have any more to do with this experience. Customers should be treated with just a little grace and respect. When I ordered I had added a tip on the card. I worked in restaurants for many years and tips used to be for service. As a person who works with other people, I always make an apology for any mistake I make. To blame a customer for a mistake made by staff is cruel and unnecessary. Nice cozy place with good vibe. Overall experience was good besides the cook in the back with a shitty attitude. Not sure if he was having a bad day but you could see his work show through the quality of food and the way he treated other employees. A great alternative than the usual chain crap on the road. Healthy choices but also sweets if you're interested. Wifi throughout and you can sit inside or enjoy the patio outside. Get away from the interstate and relax and have a great lunch! read more

Front desk at our hotel recommended this restaurant for breakfast when we asked where to go. Very nice atmosphere in an older building which they kept the character of the building. Coffee was very good which was recommended by the hotel staff too. Choices were good for breakfast and everyone in our group found something to order. Food was delivered quickly and was very tasty.I had the breakfast burrito and my only complaint is the portion was a bit small compared to some of the other choices. I don't understand the poor reviews of this place. I eat lunch here every time I'm in town and am never disappointed. The service is always good and the food spot on. I had the falafel sandwich last time and the only thing I'd criticize is that the pita used was oblong rather than round which made for a sloppy eating experience. But the falafel itself was full of flavor as was the pita. It's still my go-to for lunch in Billings. read more

It will be a long time before I return to McCormick Cafe. Terrible service. Nearly 30 minute wait and it was not that busy inside. My meal was cold and I was unable to eat it, but I was reluctant to send it back not knowing what that would get me. Staff issues for sure. read more

i do not care for the cafeteria style service. you find the food written on a wall and offered about 8 breakfast options. i ordered the french toast for 8 buck and was asked if i wanted to add eggs and bacon or sausage for an extra fee. i asked about the bacon type and was only told thick cut. you go up to the counter and order and get a number. fill your own coffee cup and find a table. the food did come out quick after i had to get up and get a second cup of coffee. the french toast was under cooked and the banana, strawberry and cream cheese did not work well together. my 2 bucks got be 5 strips of not very thick well done bacon. read more
