Fabulous to find a coffee shop open super early and not the Green Siren people. I try hard to drink #LocalCoffee and this definitely met my needs this morning. Two coffees in a few hours, spent plugged in and dialed in to work. Witht he second coffee, an egg and cheese bagel that was very good. Lots and lots of seeds that went just about everywhere. First time in Billings, looking for a local coffee shop experience... and hit the jackpot in the renovated part of downtown. I ordered a simple sugar free vanilla late, and it turned out to be one of the BEST cups of coffee I have had outside my own home in a long time. What made it so good? I am guessing the freshness because I noticed there was a gentleman actually slow-roasting coffee beans in the shop, and it seemed the shop was in the process of building a "viewable" portion of the space - similar to how breweries have their tanks behind a glass/plexiglass wall. I asked him if those beans were for tomorrow. He told me the beans were for that morning. And the beans are kept whole until needed and ground as needed. Add to that a delicious orange cranberry muffin warmed up perfectly (not too hot or unevenly warmed) and pleasant & friendly staff AND customers... Rock Creek Coffee is now my go-to 1st coffee stop in Billings, Montana - which I expect to visit many many times over the next couple of years. read more

Normally, it is in bigger cities that you find coffee houses that treat you the customer as if they are doing you a favor by letting you come in and drink their coffee. So it is with some sadness that I report that is the staff attitude here. The coffee is OK. The light breakfast fare seems to be OK. But, it is hard to enjoy anything when you are treated as an inconvenience. I'd much rather give my money to a local business than to starbucks or even a local chain. But, at least these places you are treated as a customer, not an annoyance. read more

The owners are very kind and involved, and the location is so convenient for the farmers market and downtown employees. They offer a variety of breakfast foods at reasonable Prices. Nothing too inflated even though they are downtown. I would go here over other coffee places if it was on my way to work every day. Stop by and give them a try! As things are kind of spread out in MT I'd recommend making a stop here to stretch your legs and grab a cup of coffee or lunch. What did I like about my cup of tea? We read a review indicating the coffee here is bitter and sour, but we found the opposite to be true. We had whole milk lattes and they were creamy and delicious ! We also got a giant peanut butter cookie heated up and it tasted like it had just come out of the oven! So good !! The people here are very friendly. I'm visiting from SF and I've come to expect good coffee, pleasant servers, and WiFi. Don't come here expecting to get WiFi. It doesn't work and the girls working here aren't that much into customer service... You won't get any help. Coffee is OK. Not great but what I'd expected. Staff is definitely not engaged - just putting in their time based on their behavior. Overall, pretty disappointed with the experience. Too bad too because its a good location with a good layout and a lot of potential. I hear there's a Starbucks nearby. I prefer to go to local places and support small business but I'll go to Starbucks if I"m here again and looking for a coffee shop. read more

I've had coffee in this spot multiple times and it's ok. I was recently in there for just a blueberry muffin and it was just fine. The issue I have with this place is the incredibly rude customer service rep with facial piercings. Unreal how sour faced and flat out disdainful she was. Never got so much as a "hello" from the baristas, my drip coffee was cold, and my friend asked for a latte made with coconut milk (she's lactose intolerant) and after specifying coconut MILK NOT COCONUT FLAVOR she received a 2% milk latte with coconut flavor. Cool location though! read more
