I love a good coffee shop, so I found this one on Yelp. Nate and I were exploring Yellow Springs…read moreand I loved this little town! Emporium Wines & the Underdog Cafe is a cute and cozy charming little shop with lots of wine for sale and some tasty food. There isn't a ton of seating, so we had to share a table with a kind stranger while we enjoyed our iced Americanos and breakfast focaccia. The breakfast focaccia was delicious - it had cheese, chili crisp, and a hard boiled egg inside. We also added some bacon. I really liked this and it was great to split for a light breakfast snack. They also have other breakfast items and lunch food. There are bookshelves full of used books for sale. The space seems very community-forward and I think I'd be a regular here if I lived nearby.

I saw they also sell wrapped grab 'n go sandwiches, drinks and yogurt parfaits. I didn't see a menu, but apparently they have pastries and breakfast sandwiches. They are also a beer & wine shop retail shop. There are several tables both inside and out to sit and read or socialize. It was a really pleasant atmosphere in the middle of the day. They have shelves of used books for $4.99, alphabetical by author. I found one to purchase. I came back with granddaughter for breakfast, but I wished we had gone to a different place, more of a full service breakfast joint. I had a breakfast wrap and a hot coffee. It was pretty good. The staff were okay, not super friendly.

The fries are superbly potato-ey (sad to say that a distinguishing factor these days is a potato tasting line a potato...). Service is always great. My only gripe is that at the end of the day it's a little loid/boisterous -- but the crowd's always friendly. I'm deducting 2 stars for them showing sports on the TVs -- leaving us at 5/5 stars. (P.S. get the purple drank -- it's a taste you don't see around much -- reminds me of grape BubbleTape gum ... if anyone remembers that)

Absolutely pick me up and fly me to Cincy on a Friday for this fish and chips!!!!…read more I was in town for flying pig and was told the pony had the best fish Friday around. I made damn sure to stop in at 12 on the dot to find out first hand. The fish was well seasoned and crispy on the outside will tender, flaky, and juicy on the inside. The fries were crispy and well seasoned and the damn tartar sauce was even delicious. The portion is huge and while good enough to hog all to yourself it's big enough for 2 people. The server/bartender was very polite and helpful, and even held my cc after leaving it during my visit because I was so high on a crispy flavor cloud I didn't even care how I would pay for the rest of my trip. All in all an absolute must visit for fish Friday or honestly any day of the week. I hear the wings are also something to write home about.

Through all of our visits, we've had some truly wonderful meals, but this one may have been the top! We were immediately greeted at the door by Kristen who welcomed us back and showed is to our preferred table. Shortly after, Henry introduced himself as our server. Having already previewed the just dropped summer menu, we had a pretty good idea what we wanted. Henry shared some specials and we got to to ordering. The tuna appetizer was a great start. Three different cuts of tuna with a peach and oil sauce. The fish was amazing with the slight peach flavor amping it up a notch. Great start. Next we had the pork belly skewer. The pork belly was grilled with a drizzle of Alabama bbq. The pork belly was so tender and flavorful. Again, plenty of smiles to go around. For the main course, we shared the fish and iberico mains. The fish this night was swordfish which was so flavorful and moist. The iberico was tender and, for me, the corn maque choux made the dish. I could have eaten a big bowl of that goodness! Though we dont normally order desert, we did get to peach skillet cobbler. A perfect light tasty finish to the meal. Throughout the evening, Henry was the perfect server, happy to share his observations and always with a smile. Love when we get a minute with Chef Jeff as well. So glad we got to experience this menu so early. We well for sure be back before the next seasonal switch.

Honestly some of the best food I've had in the city. Whatever they got going on here is the good…read morestuff. My friend and I got cornbread as an appetizer and I got the fish as my entree. The cornbread was awesome - the butter that's on top makes the bread a bit soggy and sweet in the best way possible and the fish was really good. I also don't think that the portions were as small as many other boujee restaurants. With regards to service, we sat at the bar, and the bartender was really cool too. Definitely would come back!
