I only give it such a low rating because of the service. I have no complaints about the food. The manager (in a maroon polo) became upset with me when I asked for someone to take an order. I guess she expects everyone to know the store's policies because she told me that they could have just ordered from the kiosk. When I told her they only had cash, she said "they could have just put it in. We only have two people here!" She was very upset and let it be known. I understand being flustered, but get a grip. Best McDonald's I've probably ever been too. Staff was friendly, establishment was clean, and the food was "fresh". We tried the spicy chicken nuggets which were highly recommended to us and they did not disappoint. I'm hoping McDonald's keeps them on the menu because WOW. They were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside which is how they should be. I was fully expecting dry nuggets because let's be honest, most McDonalds does that. Ever since the remodel the greasy, acne having, teens that work there have been working the drive-thru super slowly, now I've been going here since I was around six, the food is okay, because I've been there so often the workers are nice, the place feels homey to me, sometimes they messed up my order but that's how I started to eat condiments on my burgers. I am upset that they changed the play-place, the original one was more fun. Some of you old Tinker toddler tricks needs to be softer on these teens, they're probably stressed out this economy sucks! Waited 15 minutes for food, had to ask for our drink and coffee. 10 minutes later, asked about the coffee only to be told they were "brewing" the coffee. I can't think of many worse experiences than I had today at this location. My GOD it wasn't even lunch time really. My brother and I walked in for a quick bite around 1:45. As we stood there in line...and stood there....and stood there...it was quite obvious the four people behind the counter were more concerned with the drive thru customers. At one point, my brother said very loudly, in the restaurant full of people, "DOES ANYONE WORK HERE?", prompting laughs from a good number of people behind us. There must have been 15 people in the line behind us. And we must have stood at the counter, watching at least four employees decide they needed to handle other matters...for easily 10 minutes before someone took our order. I also noticed an older gentleman. Wow. He must have waited for his food a good 15 minutes... This was, by far, the worst run McD's I've been to since leaving Alabama. The egg McMuffin... It grows smaller and the price stays the same. For drive-thru, and that's a plus, they put it in a bag neatly wrapped but without napkin. When I asked for a napkin, they gave me three, two of which were unnecessary. This is happened before at the same McDonald's and maybe happens at all the others, I don't know because I don't freak with them much anymore. Someone needs to remind Castroville Tx location the dining area is open for service not just the drive thru & the cashier as well as store manager need to travel to Hondo Tx for training in customer service skills! I went in to order 2 Big Mac combo I was the only person in dining area waiting for an order 22 minutes later still waiting then realized they were serving the drive thru only cars which arrived & went thru drive thru. Cars that went thru drive thru after I had placed my order were serviced and I was still waiting. When I asked cashier why & told aad manager wanted a refund & told him why same response from both cashier, "well we are short of people what can I say! " Really hateful! He doesn't know how to run a store they had 3 drive thru employees, 2 managers on shift, 2 cooks, 1 front counter person yet they could not handle 1 dine in order he is a pathetic excuse for a supervisor! I traveled to Hondo 15 minutes away placed my order at the counter & they were extremely busy inside & drive thru only took 5 minutes to get my order (same order has Castroville) Hondo rocks & knows how to service. Manager Maria t knows how to service. I complained to lady in Castroville store too because thought she was store manager learned she is assistant mgr her son store manager! Conflict of interest big time & she has been there much longer than him!! Worst dine in experience ever will never return to this McDonalds honestly hope they do go out of business. Despite the negative reviews, I went by this McDonald's at about 10 o'clock on a Saturday. There was a long line in the drive-through, but it moved quickly. It I could give negative stars I would. The space this building occupies would be more useful as a brick wall you could pull up and talk to. At least then you would not expect any service. Seriously, this place is worse than terrible. Consistently letting customers down. Terribly slow and they still get it wrong. Tonight I pull up to the drive thru 30 minutes before they close. I order a 4 pc. Chicken tender meal. They say they only have 3 tenders left and I will have to order something else. So a fast food restaurant can't cook a chicken tender in 30 minutes? For this place that's about right. So, I order something else instead after trying to wrap my head around that. I pull up to the window and see 7 employees sitting around the window talking and cutting up. The dinning room is closed mind you and only the drive thru is open. 15 minutes later my meal comes out. I start to drive away and realize they didn't give me the drink. So I have to go back to the drive thru line because they won't help me if I walk up to the window. Another 15 minutes passes before I get my drink which wasn't even the drink I ordered. They are closed at this point and I am over any chance of trying to get what I ordered. Then I get home and take my food out of the bag to see the large fry I was splitting with someone maybe half way full. This place has never once given me a 100% correct order. Never! The other fast food restaurants in town have the same age group of employees from the same hiring pool and yet I have very little problems at the other establishments. I have done so many of the surveys on the receipts and seen zero change at this place. So it all falls back on the owner/ managers. I have pretty low expectations when I go to McDonald's to start with. This store has made it to where I have less than zero respect for McDonald's in general. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. It's not fast or even somewhat quick. Your order will be wrong, and they do not care or even try to act like they care when you bring it to their attention. Waste of time and money. I left my purse with all of my ID, Credit Cards, iPhone and cash hanging on the back of my chair. I didn't realize it was missing for two hours. Naturally I panicked and immediately called using my husbands phone. Staff told me that they had found a purse and it was locked in the managers office. When I returned I was asked to describe the purse and it was returned to me with everything intact. I offered a small reward for the employee who turned it in...it was refused.
