Big Mac or it should be called weak mac

Ordered a Big Mac and got this...like wow. Ordered only one thing for lunch. The Big Mac

Spicy nuggets

Best McDonald's I've probably ever been too. Staff was friendly, establishment was clean, and the food was "fresh". We tried the spicy chicken nuggets which were highly recommended to us and they did not disappoint. I'm hoping McDonald's keeps them on the menu because WOW. They were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside which is how they should be. I was fully expecting dry nuggets because let's be honest, most McDonalds does that. The Big Mac was also pretty good. Tons of sauce and flavor. The main star though were the fries! Perfect fries with a perfect meal!

The shop is made from an old gas station that was converted into a cafe. They serve pastries along with a wide range of coffee beverages. I always find myself drawn to their seasonal drinks, which are usually themed around something fun. This year's holiday menu was Ice Age themed, but I remember last year being Shrek themed, and I think there was even a Top Gun themed menu at some point over the summer. For the Ice Age menu, I got a Manny which was a Chocolate Orange Mocha drink. I got it hot and it was great! The space inside is quiet, nice, and well lit. It's a great place to get work done. In the past, I've noticed the wifi could be tragically slow, which made some tasks difficult. During my most recent visit, though, I don't recall the wifi being slow at all, so it seems like that issue has been fixed. There is also plenty of outdoor seating if you get lucky with one of the three nice weather days in San Antonio. I really like the coffee here. For such a small shop, they do a great job, and it has become an essential stop for me every time I am in Castroville. RIYL: Coffee shops that are old gas stations but do not have a functional gas pumps anymore, so you don't accidentally get gasoline instead of a latte. I hate when that happens!!

He got the cream cheese strawberry pastry and pineapple upside down mini cake. I chose a simple chocolate chip cookie and a chocolate croissant. I love how these pastries are not too sweet. I asked the employee to choose one for me. She decided on the strawberry filled pop tart which I probably wouldn't have chosen myself. But i'm sure glad she did! The pastry was flaky and soft, the strawberry filling was not overly sweet. The pop tart was so good overall! I will definitely be coming back on my next cheat day.

You deserve more exposure and reviews than you've gotten. We had attempted to eat next door, so maybe it was a good thing so we didn't overindulge here. We had honey butter toast, cream cheese pinwheel, and a chocolate chip cookie. Let me say this, I cannot compare this place to a regular bakery. Like the inedible, completely waay to sweet other bakery in town. A true dessert, lets all the ingredients shine. Not just ungodly amounts of sugar. I can't compare it to a donut shop or Mexican bakery. Also, in price, it's not cheap compared to others, but it's worth every dam penny. The three items we had, were are all perfectly balanced. The honey butter toast was different in all the best ways possible. I'm going to assume it was fresh brioche, soaked in a honey mixture, then seared or broiled to just the point BEFORE it tastes burnt. That sweet spot, that takes true skill to perfect. The cream cheese pinwheel was almost as perfect. If not has just a little note of the cream cheese it would've been just as great. The cookie...it was so good you forgive that they pulled it out to early and it collapsed. I don't think it was intentional, but it was so good that we saved it, and later used the natural crater for a scoop of vanilla ice cream. One suggestion is asking if you would like your items slightly warmed up. This is worth a drive anywhere even remotely considered close. Thank you for saving my day!

But if you're in or around Castroville - I'd tell you to go to Octane Coffee. Found them on Yelp this morning. They are tough to find. As a matter of fact, when I pulled up to their current location I literally said aloud in my car..."Is this a joke? - this is a winery." But after a short investigation, I did indeed find good coffee. I spent about an hour hanging out with the owner and his mother. We were the only ones in the place. They were both incredibly friendly. The Hazelnut latte I ordered was just hot enough, had four shots in it, and was very good. Plus - they had wifi :) I even bought a bag of coffee the owner recommended. I was sorry to hear the story about their current location, though. Seems they used to be "downtown Castroville", but the landlord kept raising their rent, and he could only roast his coffee beans during certain times, etc. Sad when local business are pushed out for almighty dollar.... Anyway - They moved to this current location, which, I'll be honest, is not the most convenient - but it gives the owner a chance to do his deal! Wishing them all the best! Will go back if I'm in the area...

Always hate when food trucks sell out, though it is understandable. Friendly employees, ready to answer any questions regarding the menu. What did we choose tonight? *Fried Mushrooms were unsatisfying. Slacking on flavor, breading overpowered. *Southwest Turkey Melt Sandwich, full of creative ingredients. Avocado, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pico de gallo, and even some kettle chips! Turkey was tasty deli thin cut, flavors came together well. Texas Toast was grilled with the right amount of butter an oil (you know how often places serve it drenched in oil!). I will say that the cheese was a little firm and the sandwich a little lukewarm for a "melt". Chose *Potato Salad as the side, which was tastier than expected; appreciated that there was not as much mustard or vinegar as most. *Mushroom Swiss Burger ironically had cheese that was far more melted than the Turkey Melt. Which was awesome, of course. Fresh and flavored sliced mushrooms (unlike them fried ones), a tasty fat patty (moist, tender, maybe a little extra flavor needed), and buttery, slightly sweet buns. Overall excellent. Came with *Fries, which were satisfactory; some were burnt and dry. Dessert was a *Fried Twinkie with Raspberry Drizzle. Oh, it was heavenly.

There was a sign to seat yourselves. OK. We sat down and the bartender brought us menus. Us and a group of three were the only customers. Brought us waters. While looking at the menu, a server comes over and asks if we wanted appetizers or go straight to order. Straight to order, please. The husband ordered the brisket pot roast. It came with asparagus and what he thinks was puréed squash. I had the pecan chicken. Panko breaded with pecans and a bourbon sauce. Maple and bourbon were the flavor elements. Came with baked Mac and cheese and sliced slightly charred carrots. This was really good, as was the husbands plate. Warm Sourdough bread and butter is served with the meal. We split a Caesar salad. The salad was OK, the dressing was a little tart and served on the side. I'm taking a slice of chocolate cake to go. As I peek into the bag, it is a generous slice with strawberries and a dollop of whipped cream. Stay tuned. The restaurant is part of the Hillside Resort. Looks like a bunch of rooms. When we were about to leave a group of women came in and sat at the bar. I told the bartender we'd heard about them through Texas Eats. He said 'are they still showing that? That was about six chefs ago!' All righty then. I'd say it's worth a trip to try.

Ordered the Berry Patch cocktail- nice and refreshing with a splash of mint leaves. Menu wasn't overwhelming and had a nice assortment of dishes. Starters ordered - pork belly bites and fried Brussels sprouts. Both highly recommend! Dishes ordered- salmon, pork chop, pot roast, and steak. Pork chop and steak were not dry, but juicy with lots of flavor. I loved pot roast growing up , so I had to order it here. Although tasty, texture was a little chewy and tough. Also would have enjoyed a little more helping of vegetable/potato purée underneath the roast. The salmon dish looked fabulous, but was slightly salty. The sweet bun that accompanied each dish were delicious! Service was good. I'd come back to try the pork chop next time around.
