    Pork Chop
    Mo A.

I heard a lot of hype about the food here so I tried it after a round of golf. I had the Caesar salad and Pork Chop with chipotle raspberry sauce, bacon green beans and fries. The salad was good. The pork chop was large and it was chewy and not tender. The beans were decent and the fries were meh.

This hidden gem in Castroville has been a favorite of mine for several years. Located next to the local golf course, it is a quick detour off HWY 90 for travelers passing by looking to satisfy their hunger. Since in town, the restaurant choices are very limited, this place has been my go to for meeting with clients. The atmosphere is relaxed, waitstaff is constantly friendly and has been an ideal place to chat it up with a small group. Make sure to try the raspberry chipotle carnitas, or the buffalo fried cauliflower for a starter and you surely will be on par for the next course. For big appetites, the Bandito is the club favorite. If chicken is your thing, the Creamy Stuff Chicken, or the Chicken Parmesan is beyond amazing. Add it with a side of broccoli melted with cheese and you will thank me later. For those seeking a German experience, The Pork Schnitzel with the potato salad is definitely a hole in one. Although I have not tried them, my friends tell me the pizzas are as good as an Italian pizzeria. The wedge salad is a great way to compliment each meal, so don't forget your greens. Hope you find your favorite here, too and support this local restaurant.

Nice small restaurant and bar located off golf course in Castroville. Was in town looking for something different and found Julianna's on yelp. Walked in and seated promptly, almost walked right out due to waiting 10 minutes before anyone greeted or asked us for order. But when our server, Baldemar, finally did come over, he definitely made up for it with his service. Our glasses were never empty, complimentary tasting of creamy chicken noodle soup was offered. Recommendation of the Bandito sandwich hit the spot. It is a delicious grilled cheese with brisket and sausage, literally finger licking good. Mom got the Turkey bacon sandwich. We both took half home for later.

We had a great time at Julianna's. We were looking for a restaurant to celebrate my friends birthday. We wanted something in Castroville and came upon this place. We went for an early dinner. The place was busy for the time we went. It was four of us and we shared a lot of our food. We started off with the brussels sprouts that were delicious. We all love brussels sprouts and these did not disappoint. We also shared the shrimp Campechana and the buffalo cauliflower. We were expecting small cauliflower pieces, but we got a huge chunk that was perfectly seasoned and fried. The campechana had a distinct taste to eat that we couldn't figure out. Maybe cumin. For my meal I got the blackened mahi sandwich with sweet potato wedges. The sweet potato wedges were a hit. Everyone love them. My friend got their special surf and turf with shrimp and steak. We also shared the Louisiana special and the napoleon chicken. At the end, we could not pass up dessert. We ended up getting the chocolate cake and the banana pudding. Both were decadent and enough to share. We did get a bottle of wine. They arefairly priced. Our waiter was extremely nice. He gave us good suggestions. He knew we were celebrating birthdays, and he brought us candles for our desserts. We sat inside, but they do have an outside seating area that's pretty. Parking is available on site. Reservations are available. I suggest you making them if you are going to go for typical lunchtime or dinnertime hours.

Had lunch at Julianna's in a Golfing Range/Pro Shop location in Castroville. It was a good pit stop on our way to Fort Clark in Bracketville, TX. I had the Grilled Blackened Shrimp & Avocado salad with 1/2 an avocado that was delicious. The Zesty Italian Dressing had a zing & I had it on the side. It included 6 shrimp on a stick, Spring Mix with fresh baby greens, shaved Parm & tomatoes. A 1/4 of the Avocado was black so I removed it. It should be QC'd before releasing the plate or at least noticed by the food preps. The Bandito Brisket/Sausage grilled cheese sandwich was pretty hefty but 1/3 of the beef was gristly so it had to be set aside because it was too tough. That was a bit disappointing esp. since our server said it's a favorite esp. with all the Golfers. The Sweet Potato Fries were large & tasty & so was the Lemonade. Kennidy our server was gracious, friendly & professional. The grounds are beautiful with trees & grass overlooking the Golf Course. There are outside tables as well. What a nice find thru Yelp!

This is no doubt a hidden gem of a restaurant you can find in Castroville which a large menu that will no doubt hit any and everyone in your party's appetite. The menu is so diverse that I promise you will really have a hard time nailing down what you REALLY want to eat. Julianna's was a recommendation from the hotel I stayed at down the street for a work trip. Even on a slow, calm and low key Monday early evening I was game to drive over and see what I could eat and I was super happy with her recommendation even as a solo dinner eater (again I was on a work trip). Friendly staff and fast service was very much appreciated and made this spot feel like I was at home. There was also a diverse crowd of diners on a Monday and honestly felt like it was a weekend night when looking around and seeing everyone with their families and friends eating. I ended up coming here two nights in a row to dazzle my coworkers who wanted some wine and a veggie pasta dish. All coworkers were super impressed with amount of menu selections that even included pizza! We ordered a bottle of red wine for the table and all got something different - pasta dish, delicious charbroiled burger/fresh potato fries, and even brussel sprouts as our appetizer. My plan is to come back another time and use this as a suggestion for when I am down the way, in Hondo, visiting family. We are always in need of a great space for 20+ family members to meet and this is definitely a great spot for large and small groups. The attention to service and friendliness makes you feel special in such a special small town like Castroville.

Julianna's was recommended to us by a local. I got the Napoleon Chicken which was chicken breast (two of them for lunch) Zuchini and yellow squash ribbons between the two chicken breast served over rice. There was also a balsamic glaze which I felt was a bit of a stingy amount. But this was a great lunch for someone doing Weight Watchers. My friend had another chicken dish with cheese and absolutely loved it. I think she said it was the best chicken dish she has ever had. Others had different sandwiches and were happy with them. They said the jalapeno bun was amazing.

My rating for this restaurant is 4.5 , I'll explain later I just wanna say this place is a hidden gem, surrounded by a golf course. It was a bit of a drive , you ask yourself ... there's a restaurant out this far, away from the hustle and bustle? But, remember it's near the golf course and well worth it. Plenty of parking and festive Christmas decor throughout the restaurant. We sat at a large round table and was greeted by our server. The menu has quite the variety- pastas, salads, pizzas, sandwiches, seafood, and proteins. I ordered the bourbon BBQ salmon and shrimp. All meals come with soup or salad. I had the chicken tortilla soup without cheese- perfect small cup to warm me up. Presentation of the salmon dish was clean and nice. Good size portion of salmon- slight crisp to outside and flaky moist texture inside. Just the right amount of BBQ, not drowned in sauce. However, the shrimp that accompanied the salmon was underwhelming. The shrimp was skimpy, overcooked, and slightly charred. The herbed rice and steamed broccoli were nice - good flavor. Others ordered the pork chop, pastas, and a mixed BBQ grill dish ( just the steak was over cooked). They all loved their picks of the day! Pasta dishes were good size portions, enough for a meal the next day! The 1/2 star was taken off for the skimpy charred shrimp and the dry overcooked steak on the mixed grill dish. Overall good , great service, and reasonable prices. I would come back again.

Tonight was our 2nd time. First time (month ago) service was great, and food was delicious. (Chicken n waffles, pizza, pasta and the grilled cheese sandwich w/brisket) Tonight- they pretty much over cooked the chicken in the chicken waffles. So tuff could barely cut it. Ordered a slice of cheesecake cause last time we had THE BEST cheesecake ever. Waitress brings it out and I can tell this isn't the same. Looks store bought. I show her the pic from last time and ask where that one's at - she says "that one was a special" no clue what that meant but tonight's was frozen in the middle and not homemade I'll give it another chance but wasn't impressed tonight

There was a sign to seat yourselves. OK. We sat down and the bartender brought us menus. Us and a group of three were the only customers. Brought us waters. While looking at the menu, a server comes over and asks if we wanted appetizers or go straight to order. Straight to order, please. The husband ordered the brisket pot roast. It came with asparagus and what he thinks was puréed squash. I had the pecan chicken. Panko breaded with pecans and a bourbon sauce. Maple and bourbon were the flavor elements. Came with baked Mac and cheese and sliced slightly charred carrots. This was really good, as was the husbands plate. Warm Sourdough bread and butter is served with the meal. We split a Caesar salad. The salad was OK, the dressing was a little tart and served on the side. I'm taking a slice of chocolate cake to go. As I peek into the bag, it is a generous slice with strawberries and a dollop of whipped cream. Stay tuned. The restaurant is part of the Hillside Resort. Looks like a bunch of rooms. When we were about to leave a group of women came in and sat at the bar. I told the bartender we'd heard about them through Texas Eats. He said 'are they still showing that? That was about six chefs ago!' All righty then. I'd say it's worth a trip to try.

Starters ordered - pork belly bites and fried Brussels sprouts. Both highly recommend! Dishes ordered- salmon, pork chop, pot roast, and steak. Pork chop and steak were not dry, but juicy with lots of flavor. I loved pot roast growing up , so I had to order it here. Although tasty, texture was a little chewy and tough. Also would have enjoyed a little more helping of vegetable/potato purée underneath the roast. The salmon dish looked fabulous, but was slightly salty. The sweet bun that accompanied each dish were delicious! Service was good. I'd come back to try the pork chop next time around.

This year's holiday menu was Ice Age themed, but I remember last year being Shrek themed, and I think there was even a Top Gun themed menu at some point over the summer. In the past, I've noticed the wifi could be tragically slow, which made some tasks difficult. During my most recent visit, though, I don't recall the wifi being slow at all, so it seems like that issue has been fixed. There is also plenty of outdoor seating if you get lucky with one of the three nice weather days in San Antonio. I really like the coffee here. You deserve more exposure and reviews than you've gotten. We had attempted to eat next door, so maybe it was a good thing so we didn't overindulge here. We had honey butter toast, cream cheese pinwheel, and a chocolate chip cookie. Let me say this, I cannot compare this place to a regular bakery. Like the inedible, completely waay to sweet other bakery in town. A true dessert, lets all the ingredients shine. Not just ungodly amounts of sugar. I can't compare it to a donut shop or Mexican bakery. Also, in price, it's not cheap compared to others, but it's worth every dam penny. The three items we had, were are all perfectly balanced. The honey butter toast was different in all the best ways possible. I'm going to assume it was fresh brioche, soaked in a honey mixture, then seared or broiled to just the point BEFORE it tastes burnt. That sweet spot, that takes true skill to perfect. The cream cheese pinwheel was almost as perfect. If not has just a little note of the cream cheese it would've been just as great. The cookie...it was so good you forgive that they pulled it out to early and it collapsed. I don't think it was intentional, but it was so good that we saved it, and later used the natural crater for a scoop of vanilla ice cream. One suggestion is asking if you would like your items slightly warmed up. This is worth a drive anywhere even remotely considered close. Thank you for saving my day!
