This was a nostalgic revisit for us. Have not visited in quite awhile. The midget was craving it. I caved. Glad I did. I was so happy that they brought back the quality, and great service we remembered from years ago. To be honest, I missed the menudo, still one of the best in all of San Antonio IMO. The menus are redone. It seems cleaner too. Our waitress was great! It wasn't crowded like we remember right after a church service, glad it wasn't. We ordered the beef fajita quesadilla for an appetizer, I had the large menudo, and the little one had a bean and cheese plus a potato and egg. First the flour tortillas were much improved from the last item we were here. That's saying a lot since I'm not a huge fan of flour tortillas. The menudo was as great, if not better than I remember! Perfectly spiced with a kick, and NO PIG FEET! Yay! Throw in the onion and diced jalapeno and I couldn't ask for nothing more. The midget loved the tacos! Here is the greatest surprise of all. The quesadilla, as simple of a dish as it is, was out of this world. Get this, they ask you if you want white or yellow cheese. Yes I know that's not what they are named, but you get the point! They asked! It was a very welcome highlight to our lunch! Here are the two gripes, not too bad. One, the coffee we all used to love and crave changed. I don't want to say they changed companies or it was old, but it definitely was not the same. It was just meh. Also, if they just started at least offering, even for an upcharge homemade corn tortillas...man they would kill it! Overall I'm super happy they improved! We know have our favorite tex mex place back!!!!

First time visiting. We would hear good things about this place from our neighbors. Cozy space with delicious food. We tried several types of breakfast tacos (breakfast served all day). Ate but forgot to take pictures of the food (homemade tortillas and great tasting fillings). Picadillo, bean and cheese, migas, chorizo and bean, Ham and egg, and barbacoa. Took pictures of the menu so that we can definitely go back and try some more. Staff were friendly and prices were reasonable,

I love this style of pancakes! Never soggy and always delicious

Great spot to stop after a weekend at the river! Not only is the food authentic and handmade but it's delicious! The carne guisada is tender and not chewy, the tortillas are fluffy, and the pancakes are cooked to perfection. We loved everything we ordered so much that we forgot to take good pictures of our plates. The building is small so I'd suggest calling ahead and ordering to go if you're with a large party or in a hurry. Overall, we were very happy with our service and quality of food.

I've never been to Castroville. We were just passing through on our way back home to San Antonio. We decided to stop to get a bite to eat. Let me tell you this tiny little spot is so worth it in every possible way!! They have about 6 tables. It honestly feels like you're at your Tias or moms home. The waitress who tended to us was extremely nice and friendly. The ambiance was right on point. Now let's talk about the food. We decided to order the enchilada plate to play it safe. Especially since we've never been here before. We didn't even wait more than 5 mins for our food. It was hot, fresh and oh my gosh delicious!! And this place is outstanding when it comes to homemade cooking!! The cook, cooks with passion and you can definitely taste it in his food. His enchiladas, rice and refried beans are all made from scratch. His homemade tortillas are made by hand. I am extremely impressed by the service and food. I will most definitely find a reason to come back to this diamond in a rough! Continue doing what you guys do best!! And thats exceeding my expectations! The carne guisada gravy you put in your enchiladas is the best!!! Please do not ever change your recipe! It's perfect

We were a little cautious since we have never heard or seen this place before. From outside it looks very small and is an older building, but we went in anyway. It was close to closing time so only us and another couple were there, there are only 6 tables inside but ot was very clean and tidy. We were sat down right away and our waitress came straight to us. We ordered our food and it all came out very quickly, all of the the food was hot and fresh and delicious! Our waitress checked in on us probably every 5 minutes or so to make sure everything was ok and that everything tasted good. If we are in the neighborhood again we will definitely have to go back!

I usually like small "hole in the wall" spots cause their food is authentic (except for the plastic on my bacon). Food overall was not bad and seemed fresh, but HIGHLY recommend To Go. Dining area is as big as your living room, so imagine the noise having roughly 15 people sitting there and eating and yelling over each other. We came at 1230pm on Saturday 12/4. And the patio is no better, you're practically on the side walk so street noise is a bear. The two older servers don't seem to care too much, have no real training in customer service, food handling, or cleaning appropriately. When we sat down the server sprayed the whole table with disinfectant including the napkins, s&p shakers, open sugar and half-open salsa containers.

The best pork shops and tacos you can find in Castroville. Definitely eat there. Place is small, service good.

If I could give anything less I would. The waitress was absolutely rude, walked away while we were talking to her and repeatedly ignored us.

No. Did I know there was a Castroville-favorite restaurant there as well? Also no. We had to try it. Located inside the Alsatian Golf Club's clubhouse is their 19th-hole restaurant and bar: Julianna's Restaurant. Upon entry, you realize the place has been around for some time. It feels very classic San Antonio, with wooden walls accented by tan and white bricks. The restaurant's aged interior gives it a cozy, lodge-like charm. Though the restaurant was pretty busy on a Saturday night, we were seated instantly at a booth that gave me a perfect view of the Georgia-Alabama game on the bar's TV. After nine or eighteen holes, you never know what you're in the mood for. That's why Julianna's has plenty of options: sandwiches, pizzas, pasta, seafood, steaks, and other meat dishes. Our server came by very quickly and got us our drinks, which for me was a tall Saint Arnold Oktoberfest. I had a tough time deciding between two options: a bone-in pork chop or their creamy Cajun pasta. I opted for the bone-in pork chop with a Caesar salad, bacon green beans, and herb rice. My dad got the creamy Cajun pasta, and my mom got the Southwest chicken. It wasn't long until the Caesar salad came out, with huge croutons and a generous helping of dressing. It was excellent to the point my mom wished she had ordered it over her chicken tortilla soup, which she also enjoyed. If you ever order a meat entrée and they stick a steak knife in it, you're in for an ESPN Instant Classic. The pork chop was huge, topped with a house raspberry chipotle sauce. It was tender and cooked well. I'll admit, trying to find the bone versus the pork was a challenge, but I think that was a me issue. I would order it again. As for the sides, the bacon green beans were sneakily running for Sixth Man of the Year, and the herb rice paired with the pork chop quite well. I would go back. The meal was high quality and felt like a hidden gem even for longtime Castroville residents. What a treat. RIYL: Going to golf courses while being very bad at golf.

The menu is also expanded which I do like. I went with the Pork Frintanga plate. Pork is very tasty and chewy which is a nice touch to me. Add in the sweet plantain and fried cheese and this dish was definitely a winner. Big change up from the food truck meals of mainly papoose, which are a great food truck item. Think country cooking- burgers, chicken fried steak, salads, breakfast all day, Mexican, you name it. Daily specials- I ordered the meatloaf without gravy and mashed potatoes. I substituted with green beans instead and chose the tomato cucumber salad and harvest beets. It also came with a sweet tea and roll from Haby's bakery. I was very pleased with my meal. The meatloaf was a generous size portion and it was topped with a bit of red sauce and fried onions. The green beans were fresh, not canned. The harvest beets were warm and had a nice glaze. The tomato cucumber salad had a light vinaigrette dressing. I didn't care for the roll, it looked and tasted pretty dry. Overall good. Pay the cashier as you leave the restaurant.
