This has to be the worst McDonald's I've ever been to. Avoid at all costs. They made me and almost everyone else wait 5 minutes or more after ordering. We recently got Big Macs here and they were perfect! We also got Apple Pies,and they were terrific too! We only get McDonald's about 3 times per year-and I really want the food to be at its very best-so I appreciate the quality of the food here! Also! This place has a lot of negative reviews but I've been here several times for months and I've only once had a "meh" experience. Weekday lunchtime workers are very nice and very approachable. Keep in mind that this place is a fast food chain so theres relevant issues others have mentioned here and there. So the place isnt all that bad. read more

This place is terrible! I ordered food for curbside pickup and we waited over 10 minutes so I went inside. It was 100° in the restaurant, even the manager complained about how hot it was! I waited some more, still no food. I started to ask for help and was rudely told to wait, twice! Two young ladies were only waiting for fries and couldn't get them and there were 2 additional parties waiting on food but none of us inside could get help! One lady walked in, ordered a cone and walked out with it, but the rest of us...NOTHING! We were on a time crunch and so we just left without our food. This McDonald's has been getting better at getting orders out more quickly here the past few weeks than it has been in the past. Orders have been coming out correctly and fresh. Staff seems a lot more friendly lately as well which is a big change, to what it has been in the past. (Update did a mobile order yesterday 1/5/17 and did the option to pick up at the mobile order parking spot. Waited 20 mins before I had to go in to get it my self and they weren't even all that busy. I've been to plenty of McDonald's and have even banned some from my list of fast food spots to visit. But this McDonald's by Staples off of Route 29 in Charlottesville is on the TOP of my list for Breakfast stops. They're are consistently fast, fresh and friendly. My wife and I walked in there the other night (30 May 2017) to get an ice cream. The power was out in our neighborhood and something cool would have been nice. There were only a few people there, mostly seated. One older gentleman was trying to get his drink that didn't come with his meal. Once he received his drink, we stood at the counter to be served. There was no one at the register. A large African American girl (employee) was standing nearby. She saw us waiting and she walked away. Then the manager (Caucasian woman) with a headset on walked up to the counter, stood right in front of me. She didn't address me. In fact she didn't even look at me. Yet, she was 3-feet in front of me at the counter. She looked right THROUGH me as she said something about the total, then "Drive to the next window". Then she walked off. It was apparent that she was talking to a drive-through customer. Yet, there we were (by this time about four-minutes of waiting). We waited another minute or so and by this time I was getting frustrated. The manager once again walked up to the counter RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME and once again looked through me. I said, "Am I invisible?" She didn't respond to me. She just said, "Your total is...drive to the next window" (again) and walked off without taking our order. My wife said, "Let's go somewhere else." It was hot and we were without power at home. I was determined that we were going to get served. I said very loudly, "If we don't get served right now, you're going to get the worst online review you've ever seen." About that time a young guy (employee) from the back came out and said, "Yeah. Let them have it!" Then, he went to sit down out front. (He must have been on a break.) A young Caucasian woman who appeared miffed with us actually expecting to be served (by now about 8-minutes into it), finally took our order. We ate our ice cream and left. This is a perfect case of a bunch of employees who couldn't care less about the company, reputation or the customers. They worked harder to chase people away rather than actually do their job. I would hate to be the franchise owner of this location when employees have no concern about keeping the business profitable. If they screw things up and the place goes out of business, they walk off to screw up another business. I'm very displeased with the entire experience there, especially the manager who walked up to the register and totally ignored us then walked away TWICE. read more

The worst McDonald's in Charlottesville. Rude and while cars were waiting in line they didn't park the car at the window when they wanted to change orders. Then gave them refunds and coupons. Doing that for people is fine, but don't punish others by not parking them. Then I paid extra for something on the food I had to go inside and get and didn't even get it. Closing time was midnight. Came to drive through at 11:55pm and it was closed. Businesses need to respect their stated opening and closing times. This is the most basic standard that hasn't even been met at this McDonalds. read more

OK, how does a McDonald's get a five star review? Well, I've been to many McDonald's restaurants up and down the East Coast when traveling, but this is the first one that made me want to write a review. 3 visits. Very clean and courteous each time. On the second visit, I waited no more than a couple of extra minutes for a no-bacon McMuffin (probably because it was lunchtime and pretty busy). The manager gave me a coupon for a free sandwich on my next visit ! On that third visit, there was fast service and also a very polite young man cleaning and managing the dining area. This McDonald's has a new drive through process where you have to give your order to an employee standing about 10 feet away from the big menu. You can't see the menu from this vantage point but he will not allow you to move forward to see it. There is a very small menu with limited items that you can see. If you know the menu, this isn't bad but if you are like me and need to "see" it too bad. He won't let you. He'll just stand there and tap his clip board like he's doing you a favor to wait. My husband bought a big mac 07/29/2017 at noon for us to have for lunch. I was halfway through my sandwich and a big piece of plastic was in my mouth from biting the patty and everything else. I took a picture of it as in the piece of plastic it was covered in special sauce and looked like a piece of lettuce. I almost choked on it luckily I made myself spit it out.
