Smoky BLT QPC with a Kit Kat Bananna Split McFlurry

This is the first time in a while coming to the Dobbin Center McDonald's for dinner. The food was delicious and the service was descent. The Ambiance was lively for a Saturday night.

Pretend you're food
Neal O.

There's something about Maryland's fear of adhering to grids and any other manifestations of parallel-and-perpendicular-line combos that really livens up fast food restaurants and makes me think of the haphazard nature of campsite arrangement. Just a few miles from another McDonald's (that I really like because it is nestled in the woods and feels like a campsite) is this McDonald's -- positioned in a wooded shopping center next to a Wendy's and a Chick-fil-A, all slightly off-alignment with each other in a way that reminds me of tents or cabins grouped together. It has an interesting layout inside too, with lots of booths and booth-table combos. If you're someone who loves sitting in a booth but frequently dines with someone who loves sitting in a chair (or vice verse) this is the McDonald's for you. You'll have tons of options. I personally like sitting in the two-person half-booth / one chair combos when I'm dining alone, because nobody in their right mind wants to sit in a chair when they could sit in a booth, so it's like I'm not even wasting a seat. There's also a little sun room play area which works much better as a sun room than play area. The only playground prop is literally a large Happy Meal box that kids are supposed to climb inside of. I don't know of any child who is like "I want to pretend I'm food, but if only I had a play area that could help me visualize it better" but whatever, I haven't used a McDonald's play area in years so I'm not the target audience. UPDATE: Bad news. They updated this McDonald's and took out the play area. No more life-sized happy meal box unfortunately. But the fact that they were planning on remodeling this location might explain why the staff seemed to have lost all interest in cleaning the place in the months leading up to it.

Underdone hash brown
Bruce K.

I do not like my hash browns underdone. And this one was so underdone that I very nearly brought it back to the counter. Instead, I decided that I didn't really need all that fat and extra calories. I binned it. The rest of my breakfast was good. The Egg White Delight was assembled properly and the Sausage Burrito was good. The crew needed some help. They were short by at least one behind the counter and another to tidy the condiments area.

That was in happy meal!

They put some crap instead of toys in happy meal, crew must be stole all toys. My girl was so unhappy :(((

I waited longer because they were supposedly preparing my order with mustard. The worker even apologized for the mix up and my additional wait time. Background: Sooo, like I'm starving. Don't typically do McD's but hey my body should be able to tolerate the fish. Plus, I'm starving. My first choice is the chicken place next door BUT I'm already beyond my eat time and I already know I'd eat their delicious waffle fries and I absolutely would've gotten a small frozen lemonade although I already have my lemon and seltzer water with me. So to avoid alllll those delicious extra calories, I divert total disaster and set my taste buds on a McD fish with mustard and NOTHING else. Nope no small fry. No Coke. No frappe. No smoothie. I'll sip my home bought lemon and seltzer water mix. Y'all - YES - Y'ALL not you all or everyone or everybody - Y'ALL!!! Why did my long awaited for only meal of the day come WITHOUT MUSTARD!!! ‍‍ How! Why!?¿? It was on the screen. You all caught it at the window. You apologetically delivered it to me pretty much guaranteeing the mustard is on it. I really want to give them 1 star but I WAS starving. And if nothing else, it was fresh. Piping hot enough for me to take the picture before devouring. Oh and yes, I checked the bottom - no mustard there either, not a squirt. Hopefully everyone can appreciate my point here - when your taste buds are set and then BOOM!!! Total disappointment!

Wrong food. Slow service. And to make things worse, the food was all overcooked and dry. Never again.

The sandwiches looked like the ones on the commercial, the fries were hot and not too salty, the sweet tea wasn't too sweet.

I am not much of a beer drinker so was happy to see they had some cocktail options. I ordered the Blackberry mule. It was just the right amount of sweetness in my opinion. I wasn't originally planning to get food but could not help myself when I saw they had a Chicago style hotdog. It was tasty despite being a bit of a mess to eat with the topping piled high. It comes with a side of kettle cooked chips that somehow managed to be just as good, maybe even better than the hot dog. The bartenders were pleasant and efficient with checking in on us and clearing plates as needed.

This was my first time visiting any Shake Shack location, here in Columbia, Maryland. I was…read moreactually surprised during my visit, because I was really thinking that this was going to be one of those awesome 5-star experiences, but it just wasn't. As I approached this business, I found the outside to be clean and the landscaping was pleasant. After entering, I was immediately faced with a bunch of kiosks for customers to place their orders. I just don't like kiosks. To me, this just shows me a business that is trying to reduce their customer service by not hiring cashiers and making the customer perform the cashier's job with no cost benefit to the customer. After placing my order, I was then questioned with how much I would like to tip. I found this to be even more annoying. What am I tipping for? The quality of the food?...I haven't eaten it yet. The quality of the service?...I haven't received any yet. Tipping BEFORE any experience is ridiculous and presumptuous. To me, tipping is a way for the customer to show that they are satisfied (or highly satisfied) with the experience they have had AFTER they have had it. I ended up ordering the double SmokeShack Burger, which comes with two beef patties, cheese, bacon, cherry peppers, and ShackSauce. The burger was really delicious, but I was surprised by how small it was for being a double. I also ordered the Bacon Cheese Fries, which are crinkle cut French fries topped with cheese sauce and bacon. This was pretty good too, but not as good as I thought it would be. For my drink I was going to get a soda-pop, but then I decided to try their Shack-Made Lemonade. It tasted weird, and I regretted getting it. I was served at my table by a server who delivered my food without saying a word. While eating my meal, I noticed that the inside of the restaurant looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. In fact, I did not see anyone cleaning anything inside during my entire visit. Even more disturbing was the lack of friendliness of the employees. I kid you not, there were about a dozen people working here during my visit and I did not see a single employee crack a smile...not for anyone. While leaving, I decided to order their Chocolate Blackout Pudding Shake. After getting back to my hotel with this for dessert, I only had a few spoonfuls. Again, this tasted weird. I ended up throwing out 90% of it because it just wasn't very tasty. In total, I spent over $33, which is a ridiculously high cost for one fast food meal. In comparison with my favorite fast food restaurant, In-N-Out (primarily in the western U.S.), I can get a similar meal at In-N-Out for about HALF the cost. I don't know about you, but if I pay substantially more I expect a substantially better experience. I hope that the other Shake Shack businesses don't operate like this one; This was NOT a worthwhile experience, especially considering the cost.

Those of you who…read moreread my reviews know I typically review either really good or really "not so good" restaurants. I'm breaking my own rules, because I feel the 3.9 rating is pretty accurate, with one 5 star + exception. This was a business lunch and a convenient location so there we were. The duck fries as an appetizer were good but needed to be seasoned with a little more salt. I had a strawberry salad with some grilled chicken that was good with the greens, but dry as the desert with the chicken and borderline inedible. Here's the twist!!! My two compadres both had the grilled cheese and lobster sandwich. They both looked at me sheepishly and said, you f ed up!!! William was kind enough to break off a substantial bite and let me try it. Angels sang, children wept, and I almost passed out! It was the kind of perfection we all agreed we would have eaten 5, maybe 6 of these unnaturally awesome sandwiches until we passed out! 3.5 Star service, 4 Star ambience, and some 10 Star bites! Cheers, JimG

The staff are nice, but service and the kitchen seemed a bit slow on a Sunday early afternoon towards the very end of brunch despite the area we were seated only had a few tables filled. The Crab Cake Eggs Benedict was nothing special - feeling like a flat, single-note dish.. Perhaps it was that the hollandaise sauce lacked the acidity (usually from lemon juice) to brighten the dish. Or, that the nod to Maryland - the Old Bay honey - drizzled around the edges of the dish wasn't enough to elevate it to something that is savored with each bite. The Fluffernutter Blondie is a good dessert choice if you love blondies and peanut butter. Although, it was a bit drier than I'd like, the texture was still soft.
