Called in order for pick up and it was seamless and was ready as promised. Gyro platter, Spanakopita, Dips trio, And Gyro Bowl. I would say they have one of the best Spanakopitas in the area! Big Greek (Feta) fries are also the best. Fiesty Feta dip didn't disappoint and they are so generous with the tasty Gyro meat portion. So, I've been trying not to get my hopes up in case another one of my go-to restaurants were to leave. Unfortunately for me, that's too late, because Big Greek Cafe delivers. They have a pretty large menu of a large variety of options. One of their promotions is they run a $7 Gyro Pita day on Wednesdays, so I couldn't pass that deal up. The pita they use is very tasty with good chew, the meat is very tender and well seasoned, and their fries are extra crispy. I really had no complaints. The service was exceptional as well. They had a lot of staff greeting you and walking around during the meal to make sure you had everything that you needed. It's always so great to see such a strong staff at a restaurant. The way the ordering works is similar to a fast-food restaurant where you order and then find a seat (if you're dining in). As soon as I walked in, the place felt big and bright and the gentleman at the counter greeted me and asked how he can help. Not sure when they opened but my wife, out of the blue, directed me to pickup dinner there. Obligingly I obeyed. She said pick up these items. I obeyed. I thought she had been there before. Nope, she said it's new and wanted to try it. Ok. So I looked it up and ordered online from the Costco parking lot. It was about 10 minutes away. It said it would be ready in 20. So I took my time and off I went. When I got there I walked in at the exact time it said it would be ready and sure enough, it was already bagged and ready to go. That was awesome. The staff were fast proficient and friendly. Now the 20 minute drive home and the food. So we dove in after I got home. The first thing I noticed was the meat in the gyro was dry. I'm not a dry person at all so it really wasn't to my liking. Wife is a dry person and she even said it was dry. The calamari was very cold and salty. I am a salty guy but I like my hot food to be at least room temperature. This was noticeably colder than the room temperature. I can always warm it up but I am giving you my first impression. Like I don't expect fries to be taken home and be hot. But I don't expect it to be cold. But I have to say the gyro was of decent size. I ate it with a jug of water and I was full. Lastly, the baklava cheesecake. I'm not much into cheesecake. In fact, I personally never order it. But this was freaking delicious. The combination worked for me. The baklava was a bit harder to cut up with a spoon but it was worth fighting for. So perhaps they still need time to work things out? Do we really need to eat it there on the spot? I don't know. The dry meat issue will remain dry I fear. The service was great so will give it another go further down the road to see if anything changes. read more

Outstanding customer service from both the Columbia, MD and Alexandria, VA locations!Last night, I accidentally placed our family takeout order at the Columbia website instead of our local Alexandria branch. By the time my husband arrived for pickup and we realized the mistake, it was getting late. To save time, I told him to just buy our son's dinner there, while I called the Columbia store to let them know they could give our original order to someone else so it wouldn't go to waste.What happened next was absolutely incredible.The Columbia store manager listened to my mistake with total empathy and immediately offered to transfer the entire order to the Alexandria location! I was blown away by his generosity. When I called my husband to deliver the good news, he told me that the Alexandria team had already given him our son's meal completely free of charge.My husband walked through the door with a full, delicious family dinner and a great story about community kindness. I am deeply impressed by the phenomenal level of service, care, and seamless teamwork displayed by both store managers.
