Consistently mediocre as far as Potbelly's go. When I lived in VA and DC I always enjoyed the Potbelly's I went to, but this one has been a let down every time. Main issue is they tend to get my order wrong more often than not and the staff doesn't seem to have much urgency. read more

I chose potbelly sandwich for the first time for lunch a couple days ago. Walking in, the place is a little bit confusing, but ultimately wasn't hard to figure out. The employees were nice, but kept talking to one another, even when I was approaching to pay or ask for something. It was kind of annoying and made me feel unwelcome in a way. I tried the regular turkey and Swiss with white bread. They ask you what kind of bread and then they put it through the toaster. After that, they ask you what toppings you'd like. I got lettuce, mayo, onions, and hots. The bread was probably my favorite part, it was so soft and chewy--very good. I asked for light hots because I like the spice a little bit, but not when it's overwhelming. Unfortunately, this was a bad choice. The hots were insanely hot, which I was not expecting. The oils covered my entire sandwich, so even when I took them off it still ruined the sandwich. This is not their problem, I was not aware of how hot they were because I had never been there before. I'm sure other people love how hot they are, and I think it's some signature thing anyway. I just had no idea. So one thing I would say is that if you're sensitive to spicy things, don't get the hots! I should've known... I usually don't get them lol read more

Potbelly has been my hot sandwich shop of choice since I've disliked Quiznos (are those even still open?) for around 15 years now. Potbelly has a skinny sandwich and soup option that I just love and get every time I visit. It's always the ham sandwich and usually the broccoli and cheese soup, but if there's a better soup available I will go with that. In all the years I've been patronizing Potbelly, the quality of the food has remained the same. I am particularly into the "hots" they put on the sandwiches and that are for purchase. Service is quick and easy and the venue seems pretty clean though I've not used the bathroom there and thus can't comment. read more

First the good: Sandwich was tasty and prepared well. Everyone was friendly and fast service. As was mentioned in another review, probably due to the masks but also the loud fan noise behind the folks assembling the sandwiches, they did not put on all the requested toppings. Maybe they could hold up a card or screen or some other contraption showing what they put on the sub so you could verify it was correct. Also, I have ordered the Oreo milkshake twice from this location and they are so thin it's like drinking a glass of milk with Oreo crumbs. Food was great but service was awful. The guy at the first station was super nice. Lady adding the toppings added ones we didn't ask for and didn't add toppings we asked for. She was also checking her phone and was setting it down on the cutting board that my food was on. Kind of gross. Lady at the register was rude as well. I love me some Potbelly. They make some of the best, inexpensive fast-casual sandwiches, and helped accelerate the overdue death of the "cold, stale sandwich" chains (not looking at you Subway. Okay, I am). After multiple visiits, this Columbia store is my least favorite of their local shops. It's often empty. The staff seem harried or distant. They've burned my club twice in the last 6 months (overcooked, bread hard to almost charred at corners). A recent to-go order took 15 minutes from my timely arrival-- for one sandwich. Another time they tried to send me on my way without the whole order. The error rate should not be this high for something programmed to be easy for a nation-wide chain, especially when the place is never slammed when I've been there. Maybe they can't retain staff in expensive HowCo, so it's perpetually newbies? I never saw the same face twice, so maybe... The Arundel Mills and College Park stores are much better. Despite this store having the better location, proximate to main roads, ample non-shared parking, with a Columbia-style grassy berm providing some isolation from traffic for the outdoor seating. This used to be a Starbucks, for those who've been around a while. Do eat at Potbelly, but perhaps give this one a pass. read more

I just had the RUDEST experience here. The woman who was taking my toppings order literally rolled her eyes and stopped taking my order when there was some confusion about my toppings order. My mask was probably making it hard to hear, so I was unsure where I needed to start over. When I asked her if she only got my hot pepper part of the order she got frustrated with me and completely stopped everything. Her colleague had to step in and finish because she refused to continue. I even apologized and tried to explain that I was trying to clarify my order, to no avail. I was so shocked at her behavior that I just left the store without my sandwich. It was mortifying. I understand that we're going through some tough times here, but that doesn't excuse rude behavior and insolence. If you hate your job, there are plenty of other people who are willing and able to do it without a problem. read more

What a coincidence....visiting relatives in town, we were told to try out Pot Belly's. Looking them up I saw another review posted just a hour or two earlier that spoke of a bad experience. The complaint I have is not a thing that is specific to this location i assume this was a regional or even national decision but the store has priced themselves out of a competitive marketplace. I have been frequenting this location since it opened the last experience I had there was mediocre at best the sandwich wasn't assembled properly. The real issue was the price though. At one point I was eating at Potbelly about every 10 days or so but approximately 3 weeks ago the store increased its prices almost 30% so a large sandwich which used to be 8.97 after tax is now 11.51. This does not feel like it's worth the money anymore and if I'm being honest it used to be even cheaper than that I've really only been eating at these stores for about 5-6 years and they've almost doubled in price since I started going. I doubt I'll be back. The food was a sloppy mess too which didn't help anything. read more

Always a friendly and welcoming location, I really dig the Thursday night crew. Turkey, Bacon & Cheddar Flat with a little mayo and lots of hot peppers is an amazing sandwich! Plus they have Zapps chips which is always a win. On weekends, they often have local musicians perform which makes for a nice ambiance. Shakes are amazing and just the right size! read more

Typically Potbelly joint. I've had all their sandwiches before but this is the first time I've been to the Columbia locations. The place is clean and service is fast. I recommend getting their sandwiches "thin cut" (less bread) and try "The Wreck" if your first time. One bad thing about here is that over by the fountain drink machine, there is really no organization for where the lids and straws are. If the place is busy you will be reaching over everyone trying to grab a lid and straw. It's just not very convenient. read more

I'm confused to be honest. Made an online. Literally changed two things on a sandwich and both of them were completely messed up. We got a BTLA and a Clubby. Added cheese on the BTLA and got white bread for the Clubby. Now, the BTLA was fine but for some reason had ranch and onions on it which I didn't order. The clubby had the wrong bread, mayo, and no ham. I'm so confused on they ducked this up so much. And I made sure my name was on the bag. This is only my third visit. Tasty and delicious subs! My husband and I just moved to the area and this was our first restaurant we tried. I had the mushroom melt while my husband decided on the wreck. Both were very good. Service was quick and efficient. The only reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars is for the sour face the girl that took our order had. She was not polite at all. Didn't even look up from the pile of bread to take our order. The guy that finished our subs and rung us up however was super friendly. This location consistently has quality issues when placing orders via their mobile app. Requests are rarely paid attention to and all items purchased are not placed in bag for pickup. If you order via the app, do not leave the register without making sure your order is correct. Seriously, open the sandwich, look at the salad on the spot. Last night was the last straw. One has got to love Potbellys! I have been to Potbellys many times now and I can't say they have steered me wrong. First off I like that most Potbellys are bustling semi-noisy places, makes it feel like there is a party or social event going on. Makes you want to sit down, eat and talk to you friends you are there with. The service is useally good, everyone listens and pretty much takes your many nagging changes in stride! One also has a good amount of options to choose from, soup, sandwiches, salads, cookies and shakes! You can pretty much can fill you hungrey belly here! I useally get there subs cut thin (thin means they take some breading out as to reduce the calorie total :) ) and I love getting there HOTS on the sub! The hots are actually kinda hot and make the sandwich ooh soo good! Just make sure you have a napkin near by (for the drool of course ;) ) But recently I have started getting their Black Bean soup... it has to be one of my fav black bean soups around... its always spicey, tastey and fills you up just enough so you can eat half your sandwich and keep the second half for later (just make sure you don't forget it in your car!!) Overall Potbellys is one of my fav sub places the food is fresh, tasty, and the service is quick, good and friendly. So add the HOTS and take your antacid, this is gonna be a spicy ride!! Choose your sandwich bread between white or multigrain wheat and original or 30% bigs for size. There are several options for sandwiches and all of them are good. Since it was a Friday during Lent, I decided on the Mediterranean which includes, hummus, feta cheese, artichoke hearts and roasted red peppers. I got a bunch of toppings for the sandwich. They also let me try their broccoli and cheddar soup and the spicy bean soup! Both was delicious and I couldn't decide...but finally opted for the Spicy Bean. It's tomato based and completely vegetarian. Very good, if it's there, you've got to at least sample it! The shopping center that this particular Potbelly is located is weird. The sandwiches are innovative and fresh. Everything is warmed, even cold cuts, and the multi grain bread is delicious. I would love to get a vegan non meatball sandwich on that bread! The mushroom melt is good but so much cheese. The plastic count is very high. I had an eat in salad with no drink and my plAstic count was ten! 2 - salad container, 4- dressing containers, and 4- plastic wrapped knife and fork. I used to go to Potbelly's a lot when I lived in DC so I was really excited when I heard that Potbelly's was taking the place of the old Starbucks on Dobbin Road. It seems like a standard Potbelly's---the line moves quickly even when it's crowded and the staff are very friendly. My favorite is the chicken salad sandwich on thinned wheat bread. I like having the thin bread so I have an equal meat to bread ratio. The chicken salad is very basic, with pulled chicken (not chunks) and it's not over mayo-ed. The bread is toasted with provolone cheese. My husband loves the Wreck, which is their version of an Italian cold cut and he has had some of their soups in the past and was a fan. I die for their Oatmeal Chocolate Chunk Cookies. They are amazzzzzzing! I also remember the Oreo milkshakes being pretty great too. This location isn't huge so during peak hours there isn't a ton of seating although there are some outdoor seats. read more

I've only been here twice and in the late evening before closing. It's the typical Potbelly experience: good. Staff are friendly and helpful. They've allowed us to eat and sit in there after closing while they cleaned up. Can't go wrong with the food. I tend to get the Wreck or Italian sandwiches. You can get these in salad form, too. I like the Potbelly vinaigrette. They've only recently opened up but one guy told me they've already had some of their outdoor furniture stolen. Nice job, Columbia.
