I'm not one to give reviews in general, but if it helps in any way for this location to improve, then it's worth the effort. The past few times I've been there have not been good to say the least. All occasions were drive through orders. Ordered a coffee on my way to work when it wasn't particularly busy. The coffee was beyond disgusting. Tasted like cleaning solvent and there was what looked like an oil slick on the surface of the coffee. Second time was missing an order of fries. Again, not on a busy time of the day. Third time was a few minutes ago. They weren't swamped, but what I received wasn't anywhere close to what I ordered. I honestly expected something to be wrong at this point, and they certainly delivered on that. At this point I'm not sure if the staff bagging the orders look at the tickets, or they simply don't care. Either way, I'll be going to the Northland Dr. location from now on. A little bit out of the way, but I'm over getting my order wrong every time I go to the Plainfield location. read more

This McDonalds has been a constant for the North end of Grand Rapids since I was a child. While like other restaurants the service and food may not always be consistent, it is still one of the cleanest and friendliest McDonalds in the Grand Rapids area. I grew up here and live here. The huge play area was very clean and well taken care of and the staff was indeed friendly and warm. I highly recommend this location. The food was fresh and hot. Thank you McDonald's! read more

Went to this McDonald's and saw that there were people inside, both eating and working, tried to order in the drive through and the worker was immediately rude to us. The hours say that it is open 24/7 but that's obviously not true. The worker told us they had been closed for over an hour, confused as to why there are still workers almost two hours after they said they were closed. We had nicely asked multiple times what time they close and why the hours said 24/7 but the worker kept ignoring the question and told us to "look it up" even though we told him we had. If I could give this location a zero I would, we ordered three coffees. Nothing else THREE coffees via the lobby and waited and waited after 10 minutes we asked for a refund. Still waited another 10minutes no manager. 30min later we get one coffee from an employee and a different employee gave us our money back. At this point we're confused no communication what so ever. Usually the service is fast at this location but this particular morning today I was waiting in line and cars kept going ahead of me from the other lane, and she was listening into my phone call and assumed I was speaking about her and would not take my order. Extremely unprofessional and rude. I tried to give her my order, and she kept asking me. What did I say? I was on the phone speaking to someone! Dear McDonald's on located at 3814 Plainfield Ave. In Grand Rapids.. I wonder why you would make someone a manager who enjoys ridiculing people???? I believe the manager who I am referring to works as your second shift manager. She was extremely rude and she would not give me her Supervisor's name so I could file a formal complaint. I understand when the lobby was closed deliver people could not use the restroom. But the lobby has been opened so deliver people should be able to use the restroom I have not encountered a problem with any of the other McDonald's. But the manager there was extremely unprofessional and incomprehensible. Why would allow this type of person to become manager the proof is in the video. This location often has only one lane open, probably because of staffing problems. They also often do not get special orders correct. I order the quarter pounder without cheese or onions and several times after repeating my order correctly, they gave me the burgers with cheese and onions. read more

This will probably sound petty but I need to share my drive-thru experience at this location earlier today. I had just enough time to swing through McDonald's on my lunch break. I ordered a Big Mac and small fry. He asked what I wanted to drink and I told him no drink, thanks. He sounded taken back by this and said "wow you really don't want a drink?? It's not a meal without a drink." I said no thanks, once again. He went on to tell me how big their selection of beverages was and gave him my 3rd no. After declining 3 separate times, he literally said "so you're seriously telling me that you don't want an ice cold, delicious, refreshing...and that's where I cut him off, asked to cancel my order and got out of line. I'm never rude or condescending to fast food workers but this was the closest I've gotten. Again, It wasn't a big deal at all but it was super unprofessional and really caught me off guard. read more

This McDonald's location is a pathetic mismanaged joke. I've stopped there twice now in the last week and BOTH DAYS the ice-cream machine and shake machine were conveniently "down for cleaning" (despite this being peak-hour time on evening, and then again weekend on Saturday). Questioning the employees left a bad taste in my mouth, with the lies and excuses, them claiming the shake machine goes down randomly for cleaning, and they supposedly have no control over it. That's BS guys, sorry. And they claimed the shake machine had been "broken" or inoperable for the previous 12 hours, and wouldn't be "fixed" and back online until the next day! Do these clowns actually expect anyone to BELIEVE these pathetic phony lies? What kind of bumbling incompetant management is running this sad inadequate 24-hour McD's at 3814 Plainfield Rd here in Grand Rapids, MI? They just spent tens of thousands remodelling the place, but can't afford 1) an ice-cream/frozen/shake machine that isn't "broken" (sic) 50% of the time? and 2) competant store manager who knows enough to clean his shake machine OVERNIGHT at 3am when no one's coming in, instead of a Saturday afternoon at the 6pm dinner rush? Do these bozos really need to be told this is a bad business decision? Who's running this circus here? I ended up leaving in disgust earlier tonight, and went right across the street to the Freddy's Custard & Burgers, where I got one of their delicious Cocnrete Mixers. Poorly Managed. Lots of employees and couldn't handle the 4 orders on the screen. Manager was yelling at the staff like they were children, and ignoring customers at the counter. I don't know where to start! Several complaints to corporate fell on deaf ears as well. I would understand if they make a mistake once in a while, but there is an issue every single time I go there! I once ordered on the app. It was 30 minutes before closing. 15 minutes later, they came out and said they were closed. Yet they were taking orders at the drive through still! I asked for a refund but they said that they can't issue a refund when I pay through the app! What the hell? Today, against my better judgement, I went there for breakfast. They forgot my coffee. They went back in and came out a few minutes later asking what I had in my coffee. I told them. A few minutes later they came out with my coffee. I pulled around the corner in the shade and there were no eating utensils! I am NOT going back in because everything would be cold. So I ate my big breakfast with my fingers. The biscuit was so hard and stale that it could have broke a tooth on it! Of course, everything was cold. NEVER AGAIN!! Complaint calls to corporate usually end up with them sending you a coupon for a free meal. Last time I did that, the order was messed up again! Great food! They have a play place for kids! Has touch screen ordering! Has plenty of seating for eating inside but there is no outside seating. Often gets orders correct, I only had a wrong order once! There is a wide variety of food to chose from! There are also 2 drive thru's. Staff are pretty nice! They accept Apple Pay but when going thru the drive thru they often had to ask how to use it witch took up time. They also accept card! Overall the building is clean! I would definitely recommend dining here! read more

Standard Mickey D's. They have the usual drive thru and offer breakfast in the morning and then lunch and dinner every day. Love the Egg McMuffin and will occasionally do one of their burgers for lunch. Staff are what you usually find in fast food: some better than others. read more

I understand the pandemic left us short staffed in this area of work, I work at a restaurant myself. But this place is horrendous, so poorly ran it's sad. I have used this Mc Donalds on Plainfield now for 16 years, until this years has been the worse.If it isn't just simple things like hamburgers and French fries they do ok, but don't ask for anything else, say a Chicken sandwich. I did and it was stone cold and the bun must have been a week old so hard you could not bite into it. Even that hasn't stopped me from going there it is so close. But just last week it was the last time I will go there except if I just want French fries, I thought I would give their new Chicken sandwich a try, mistake the chicken was half on the bun and the chicken was cold and the bun again hard. They have nothing on Wendys chicken sandwich and Chil-fil-a's sandwich which is the best. If that is the best they can offer won't last long. read more

Slowest drive-thru I've ever been in. Consistently takes 10-15 minutes during morning service.

Don't even waste your time. 75% of the time they're either extremely slow or will get your order wrong. I only got a coke, got all the way home and realized they gave me a Diet Coke. Really? A one item order and they said back to me "Coke". I hate Diet Coke so I had to drive all the way back and exchange it myself. Other times at night there will be a line through the drive thru. Can anyone learn to center a piece of cheese on the sandwiches or not put a soupcans worth of Catsup on your burgers with only a drop of mustard? This is an ongoing issue for years. 45 minutes for DOLLAR items! :P Upon arriving at the location the cashier was super awesome super friendly LOVED him!! He is THEE only reason I don't give it one star cause that lady was SO RUDE! Then when it took to getting my food which consisted of (a hash-brown, sausage biscuit, and egg mc muffin) it took the lady over 10 minutes to get this. Then I realized they had given me two egg mc muffins usually this would be a fortunate mistake but I was craving a sausage biscuit so I went back through drive through and pulled up to second window. After waiting another 10 min with someone clearly behind me I knocked on the window, no one came another 10 min go by and I see the woman who had given me my food peek her head over then duck out. FINALLY another 5 min later after realizing I was going nowhere this lady walks over with food clearly in her mouth (that she had just been eating) as she wipes her face with the napkin and asks me what the matter is I tell her while showing her the receipt and the intruder sandwich. She proceeds to huff, rolls her eyes, shuts the window and walks away. Another 10 min go by she finally brings me my sandwich to which I replied thanks and drove away.
