After walking out of a nearby Starbucks because they scoffed at me when I asked if they had any hot tea, I was SOOOOO happy with my experience here. The workers were so nice and friendly. They answered my questions about their specialty teas! It took about 10 minutes for them to make my two special teas (which cost about 10$ total). I had to avoid looking at all the yummy baked goods they have (their chocolate turtles are amazing!). Note: the tea is SUPER HOT when you get it (unlike McDonald's or Starbucks that you can drink right away). It took about 10-15 minutes before it was the temperature I wanted but it was nice to have something warm to hold. Very happy overall with my experience. I have been here twice now. Once for a meeting and another time to just grab some cold brew coffee and head out. Both experiences were great. They have a huge variety of different chocolates, both milk and dark. Really anything that you would think can be covered in chocolate they have it! I personally enjoy the dark chocolate covered cashews! It never seems crowded in here, which is perfect. There seems to always be tables to sit at and hang out at. I will say that you have to pay extra if you want a nondairy milk, which is kind of a bummer when I only ever want a splash. The girls working here are very sweet and very helpful! Since moving to Rockford about three years ago, I have struggled to find a nearby coffee shop that rivals some of the shops in Grand Rapids. I had walked by Sweetlands numerous times and, while it looked cute and smelled of tasty chocolates when the door opened, I had never been inside until I saw on Facebook that they were advertising a seasonal latte a while back. My wife and I walked there on a Saturday and were very pleased with our experience! Not only do they have a display case with a wide array or chocolate covered goodies, but they also have a full menu of coffee drinks and feature beans from Madcap! They also carry a nice selection or milk alternatives, including oat milk, which is our favorite. To go along with some of the standard coffee drinks like lattes and mochas, Sweetland also features unique seasonal lattes that you won't find anywhere else. If you're looking for something less sweet, they also offer pour over coffee which is probably the most delicious way to enjoy coffee as good as Madcap. The wait for coffee drinks can be a few minutes when it's busy, since they only have one person working the espresso machine; they are a chocolate shop first, after all. There are plenty of tables for sitting and chatting or doing some work. The space is bright and clean and the staff is always friendly and helpful. In all, Sweetland is on par with coffee shops in Grand Rapids proper, which is very welcome in downtown Rockford. read more

Who doesn't want coffee and chocolate? Right?! Yea, so this was going to be good no matter what. The inside is cool, good open design, a few small tables, and one bar at the window. Lots of chocolates to choose from and a good selection of coffee drinks, including pour over and cold brew. The service was nice, and the coffee was tasty. The chocolate was pretty good, but not as dark and bitter as I prefer, even the dark chocolate was probably only 70% or so. The place was quiet and it was easy to hear eveyones conversation which is slightly annoying so I'd prefer a bit more white noise (louder music) to mask some of that. Fun spot and worth coming in for for sure. Good coffee. read more

It's a bit misleading as I believe this store recently switched gears to candy and coffee, but I came in for the coffee.  I don't really have anything to complain about. The atmosphere is relaxing with plenty of tables available for work or study. The clientele seems to be mostly high school students and older community members from the area, so this isn't your typical college town coffeeshop or trendy downtown coffee bar, although it isn't in anyway uncomfortable.  Plenty of choices available in terms of coffee/specialty drinks and chocolate desserts. Employees were polite and helpful as well. If you're looking for a busy place to chat with a stranger, this place might be a tad too quiet for you, at least during the week that is. read more

My husband and I had some time to kill before an appointment, so we stopped in for a coffee. Very cute place. Liked the atmosphere and there was quite a selection of chocolates. I ordered a caramel macchiato, and it was very good. My husband ordered plain coffee. We didn't try any of the candy, but I'll probably purchase some the next time we stop in. I come in to order a drink and there's hardly anyone. A lady and her adorable son walk in just after me and order. The lady who is supposed to make drinks is playing with the kid and says "oh I should be doing my job" as she realizes she has drinks to make. The kid gets his special drink first, which is no big deal, but by this point I've already been waiting. So then maybe she would my drink next since I ordered before this lady and her son, but no. Still nothing. I have to ask how much longer it will be before I get my drink before she says she is making it right now. No apology or anything. Gee, thanks. Will get my drink elsewhere from now on. A little pricy but good stuff! I go here for the specialty coffee mostly but we have also picked up chocolates for a party and they were a huge hit. The chocolates come in so many varieties it's hard to choose and none are bad picks. The espresso is fresh ground and the baristas all know how to make the pretty designs in the foam on the top of your late or cappuccino. They recently added more seating to accommodate more customers. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about both the chocolates and coffee. Exceptionally good coffee! We heard about Sweetland through some friends so made the drive to Rockford. We were delighted to find a huge selection of chocolates as well. Very clean shop with good Wifi. We were waited upon by Sienna who was friendly and very helpful giving us some awesome recommendations. Really a nice experience. Most ridiculous customer service. I ordered a small coffee with one sugar, I took the coffee to the table to put sugar in it and it spilled. I cleaned up half of it when they then decided to help and I sat down and thought they would bring me a new one...they didn't. I went back up and asked if I could get another since it spilled and they said yes but I had to pay again....are you kidding me? I will never be back. read more
