Great food always hot but one thing is the line you wait in it takes forever in drive thru hope that is fixed!

I don't visit fast food very often. Our McDonalds here in Hayesville, NC has had some tough times in recent years. The normal staffing problems, Covid problems, etc... Last night I visited McD's and ordered a double quarter pounder with special ingredient's. By the time I got home, the Fries were still hot, The Burger was perfect, living up to it's juicy advertisement, and was the best tasting McD's burger I have had for quite some time. The staff (although appearing to be low staffed) was friendly, quick and pleasant. It was 9 at night and the restaurant was spotless even though it had been raining for several hours. This place has really up'd it's game. Getting a new general manager and receiving better management is extremely important and I'm glad they have. The food has gotten better and so has the cleanliness of the building. Although, most of these reviews are about how "filthy" the bathrooms are, the gas station connected is responsible for that. This McDonald's aren't the ones who clean the bathrooms. This place as we all know, is still understaffed but they make it work with what they have! The golden arches of Hayesville did not shine too brightly in their Thursday, July 11 health inspection. Amongst the other 20 Clay County restaurants with scores 91 and above, McDonald's received a score of 65 in the quarterly report of restaurant inspections. Immediately following the calculation of the score, the restaurant's food service permit was revoked, forcing them to shut down until they could pass in a follow-up visit. The restaurant re-opened Monday, July 15 when they were re-issued a permit, according to Clay County Environmental Health Supervisor Joe Jack Sellers. Speaking to the restaurant's mark, Sellers said, "I think that's the only one I've seen receive below a 70 in Clay County." Sellers has served in local government for nearly 23 years. Carrying out the Thursday inspection was his coworker, Environmental Health Specialist Amber Jones. According to the inspection report, McDonald's was cited for 25 different violations, resulting in the 65 score. This compares to their prior Feb. 28 inspection with 14 violations and a score of 95. The violations cited in the Thursday inspection included: * Open boxes of raw beef patties stored directly on top of a tray of English muffins. * Excessive flies. * Excessive foul odor throughout establishment. * Excessive black buildup debris in sinks. * Loose trash/debris/grease on ground in refuse area. * Chicken nugget containers stored on floor next to grease waste bin with damp and dirty mop head stored directly on box. * Three instances of hazardous food temperatures. * Reuse of a bagel that had been returned by customer in order to add cheese. * Food boxes stored directly on the floor throughout the kitchen. * Mold residue in large ice bin at front service window. * Hair visible in prep drawer of reach-in unit that holds raw burger patties. * Various other infractions for employee cleanliness, lack of hair restraints and glove usage. read more

McDonald's offerings are pretty standard, and this location is the only one in town. Like most small town fast food locations during the pandemic, they have had struggles to overcome. Staffing woes made keeping consistent hours difficult, but they persevered. Recently remodeled with a modern interior, "Macca's" has kept on despite it all, providing fast meals to a small town in desperate need of options, and I thank them. read more

My husband and I often frequent this location for snacks. The food is terrible at every McDonalds. Last night to please my niece we went to McDonalds. The manager? Took our order. Normally friendly people are there to greet us but wow not this time. She was so aloof and rude. So very rude! The place was a terrible mess. But this store IS always in a mess. When our order came the food was semi hot but my sandwich was completely wrong. As was my husbands. But I did not take it back because I did not want to be meet with a rude attitude again. Food was fine, everything else was pretty gross. Bathroom was pretty disgusting. Not very pleasant individuals, and counted 5 different flies while waiting ten minutes for my food. The only reason I give it two stars is because the drive thru order staff are usually accurate and friendly. The same cannot be said for the rest of the staff. The management in particular here is atrocious. Food is never more than lukewarm, and even during non-peak times, they are usually excruciatingly slow. I once waited over 20 minutes for one sausage and egg biscuit. To top things off, they often short you on your food, so if you go here, check your bag each and every time. Funny, I've never received extra food but I've been shorted at least 3 times that I can recall. Contacting corporate doesn't help. I received two automated responses from them and never a word from the local store. Calling the local store doesn't help either. You will either get a less than friendly manager or more often, a phone that just continually rings. obviously whoever owns this location just doesn't give a darn. Why do I endure such pain over and over you ask? Well, unlike most people, I do actually like McDonalds - especially their breakfast and it is now served all day. Also, as another commenter pointed out, we don't have many options around here. The only thing at this Mcdonalds location that is positive is that the employees are usually pretty nice. The place is one of the worst kept I have ever been to. The bathrooms are dirty. The floor is slick and when mopped, you almost can't stand up on it due to grease. There aren't enough employees so they all look tired and dishelved. It takes a long time to get food. I would say an averagte wait of 10 minutes. I waited 20 minutes on a shake. I do not for the life of me see how they pass local health inspections. It is part of a gas station so maybe that is why it is such low quality. Out of all the Mcdonalds I have been to, I believe this one may be the worst. We ordered a 6 piece, a 10 piece with sweet and sour, a chicken sandwich, and a Big Mac. The 6 piece was fine. The 10 piece came with no sweet and sour and it was only 6 chicken nuggets in a 10 piece box. The chicken sandwich was fine, but the Big Mac had no patties. They also gave us the wrong size drinks.
