The plain cheese pizza is great latterly the best part. I personally got shrimp and chips and the shrimp was just fine. But I'm not really a fan of the chips/ fries just because they were way to greasy for my taste. My boyfriend had the chicken fingers and fires and he did not like one think about them. He said they are just really dry and had no flavor. Would I go back probably 100% for the pizza but not really into the food. read more

Came here to place a to go order after black dog tavern said they were too busy to take to go orders (1 star). I had no way to reach my wife as we have no cell service in the area, but the bartender let me use his phone and was incredibly helpful. Food was good and most importantly it was a stark difference from one restaurant to the next. From annoyed and careless at black dog to warm and inviting at Valley River Brewery. Took my family here over Christmas break and it was awesome!! I had the special pulled pork plate with fried okra and mac and cheese. It was delicious. My plate was so big I had leftovers! My son had the gyro and fries-- loved it ate every bite. My husband had taco salad and loved it. Lastly my youngest son ,his wife, and her sister had pizza and it was to die for!! Best Brewery in Downtown Hayesville! This is definitely the place to be for football or games on tv. Great microbrewery. The man the runs the place runs a tight ship. You wouldn't know it was a brewery with how clean and tidy the place is. You will have to try the wood fire pizza. The fire and oven is run 24/7 365. We were speechless by the taste of the pizza. Terrible experience. First of all, when you walk in the front door, you are immediately in the range of people throwing darts unless you take an IMMEDIATE right. Worst dartboard location ever! We decided to try it out on a Saturday evening and after avoiding getting hit by darts we noticed every table was full but there were plenty of seats at the bar. There is no hostess to greet you and no sign saying seat yourself; it is a free for all. We sat at the bar and there were only two other people at the bar. Well, the entire time we were there, the bartender NEVER acknowledged us. He was too busy on the phone, cleaning glassware, and fulfilling takeaway orders. Never mind potential customers right in front of him. After about five minutes of zero acknowledgement we decided to leave because it was obvious he did not was our business. Of course as soon as we got up he came by acting like he wanted to serve us. Too late. Not impressed. read more

This is a fabulous addition to Hayesville dining. We discovered this brewery/restaurant and have been eating there regularly ever since. Out-outstanding, friendly service, cool atmosphere, trout was the best we ever had anywhere! Greek salad is amazing and the beers and ciders are great. Did i mention desserts, wow. My husband and I have been frequenting this establishment for sometime now. Initially we found the food, brews, and atmosphere favorable to an adult dinning and drinking experience. Unfortunately, this "bar:" has turned into a Chuck E Cheese style restaurant that allows children to run around screaming and playing up on the stage. I guess the owners are willing to turn a pub type atmosphere into a more family oriented restaurant to get more business. It's sad when adults can't go to a real bar/brewery and enjoy themselves without having to listen to screaming children. I doubt we will ever go back. read more

This was out second attempt to stop by for pizza once 4/29 to our disappointment they were closed sign saying sick with flu would reopen 5/1. Today 5/8 we tried again. Sign changed but still not open. Not going to bother coming back. Pizza was good last year, wish I could tell you how it was this year. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for pizza. I have mixed feelings on this establishment! My wife and I have been having lunch almost every Sunday, for months, at this location, with various degrees of satisfaction! Depending on which server you windup with, the dining experience may be pleasant or frustrating, wondering if your server went home sick and left you all alone! The food, especially the pizza, is generally very good, but depending who's in the kitchen it can be doughy and lacking consistency! The beer menu has changed, and they now have most of the brews on tap, which are excellent! Today, the pizza was inconsistent, being too cheesy and very little portions of pepperoni and sausage! Higher trained servers and more consistency in their food preparation and presentation could raise their ratings! After several months I would like to modify my review of this restaurant! They have hired much better help, and the service has improved tremendously! The food remains top notch and their pizza is to die for! The beer selection has increased and remains, some of the best craft beers available in the area! Keep up the good work Valley River! read more

We have eaten at bazillions of breweries with our kids. This one was packed at dinner time - every table full. Many with just one adult at a six top. So we sat down at the bar, as we often do, with our three well-behaved kids and a card game to entertain them, ready to order flights and snacks. The bartender told us we couldn't sit there, and he made up an imaginary state law to explain it. So we left. I despise being lied to. And I hate poorly run businesses. Not family friendly. You must order pizza if you come here, it's clearly their specialty and it seems you can't go wrong. We had a white pizza with mushrooms, tomato and feta which was fabulous. Greek salad was uninspired and less than stellar, far too much lettuce and gyro meat, not enough of everything else, wouldn't order again. Decent onion rings and great beer selection. Hard cider on tap a huge plus. Enormous space that feels a little too empty, nice art hanging on the walls, and nice tables and booths, good service.
