I visited here the last time I vacationed at Lake James and it is worth the visit, but not if you have to go too far out of the way. Location: conveniently located off the highway. You will see the old Jeep out front to let you know you are there! Beers: mediocre at best, but delicious on a hot day! Beertenders: the lady helping us was not familiar with the beers and could not offer a suggestion. I assume she was new because she also had trouble operating the register system. Food: they offer food but I did not have the opportunity to check out the menu because I was promptly told I could not have my dog inside instead of being greeted and politely informed no dogs allowed (or a sign on the door?). Building: nothing inside makes it unique (no different than a chain bar) but the Jeep outside is cool. I plan to visit again to see if I have a better experience the next time, which hopefully I will! :) read more

I've been visiting Hayesville for over 20 years now. I adore the town and the area, but one common theme over the years is that quality dining options have lacked. This has improved over the last half-decade or so, and Hayesville Brewing is a perfect example of this progress - it quite honestly may be the best restaurant Hayesville and the surrounding towns have to offer. On our most recent trip to the area, we first had a light dinner, then returned the next day for lunch, as we were that impressed. Some highlights from our meals: -Charcuterie board is a great value and includes a nice variety of cured meats that you don't typically find (elk, venison), plus an assortment of fresh fruits, cheeses, and other items -Salmon in the salmon dip is smoked in-house and is quite delicious -Tomato soup with grilled cheese (upgraded to the 'adult' grilled cheese for a small fee) is a great combo of heavenly soup and a mouth-watering sandwich -Amazingly smooth craft beers!! That's coming from someone who typically doesn't love craft beers due to the bite they can have. Highly recommend the Blonde, Wheat, and IPA depending on your preference There was a 'for sale' sign in front of the business when we were there, but I truly hope they are able to maintain the entire establishment as it is a perfect addition to Hayesville - I wish we had one in NYC too! read more

This is a great spot! I stumbled upon it while riding and saw the sign and promptly whipped a U-Turn. I love trying new hometown breweries and Hayesville Brew did not disappoint. I ordered the EZ-PZ Pils and it was a great light beer with a punch at 5.7% abv. The staff were very friendly and were super nice to turn the channel to a race I wanted to watch. I chatted with some locals at the bar while enjoying my beer and pretzel bites w/ beer cheese. I will make a side note that Hayesville Brew and Hayesville Brewing Co (where they make the actual beer) are two separate locations. This location has a restaurant tho so that's a win win for me. read more

Great little hole in the wall brewery. The Habanero Mango is nice and light with just enough heat on the back end. Bad Dog is just slightly deceptive with a hint of bitter. Easy to miss... hard to forget! Hayesville Brewing is a small micro brew located just off the side of US-64. Nothing about the exterior stands out as you're driving down the highway; however, if you're looking for quality craft beer at a cheap price this is the place for you! I elected to try their "Possum Drop Porter" named after the famous New Years Possum drop in the Murphy area. The beer was smooth with subtle hints of chocolate and coffee with an additional chocolate pretzel garnish to go with it. My Fiancee chose the "Baby got Bock" (Dunkelsbock) which was full of flavor and easy to drink. We did not try out the food today; but, have in the past and loved all their sandwich options. NHayesville Brewing Company is very accommodating. The owner is very friendly. The beer is good and wine is available, so is food. The menu changes, check their Facebook page. The building is old, quaint and very comfortable. You might remember it as the old Army Navy Surplus with the 40ish International truck and Willys jeep out front. This wasn't what I expected...it was a lot more! This is a fun, tasting room right on the main road, just outside of downtown Hayesville. We sat with other visitors at the bar and found out where everyone was from and how they found out about this brewery. The owner was behind the bar and shared his story and how he came to brew his own beer. When we visited, he'd only been brewing about eight months, but it tasted like eight years. All the beers had great flavor, one or two didn't have quite the richness or depth of taste I would've liked, but it was great for a brewer only eight months in. We had previous dinner plans, so we didn't partake in the food with the exception of a pretzel and beer cheese. Everything was very good. The staff and owner were gracious and friendly. We'll definitely be back to visit during our yearly vacation in Hayesville this fall! read more

Love this brewery. We didn't have any food this first visit but we will be back. I want to try the Sunday brunch and also the "Wisconsin" order that includes elk, bison and venison summer sausage. The beer was good. I tried them all with the 6 flight. Also, while sitting in the brewery I commented about the simple beauty of the bar height tables and was told one of the owners made them. Very pleasantly surprised at this establishment! Driven past this location many times, but never stopped in. Well Saturday my wife and I stopped in to give it a try! The beer selection was adequate in choice and awesome in taste. The menu was interesting and changes frequently, so don't expect a same old same old, paper menu, but refer to the menu board or their Facebook page! Right on Highway 64 between Murphy and Franklin NC in the beautiful little town of Hayesville near Lake Chatuge, this brewery had only been open for about 4 months when I visited but the beer was good. We visited in August of 2017. I collect growlers so it was a required stop. The beers we all excellent representations of the their type. The correct balance between bitter and malt. The light fare available is absolutely amazing! Ok, so Jody is a Wisconsin transplant, he brought his love of cheese with him. I'm just really glad Lisa is there to balance him out! She knows what customer service is all about. :) They have a cheese plate that I would seriously consider driving the 10hrs to get. They also have the very best grilled cheese sandwich I have ever had or seen. It is known as the grown up cheese sandwich. Split one of those with a friend and share the cheese plate and you are home free to enjoy the very small batch beers brewed on site. As for the beers, I prefer malty dark beers and the porter served my purposes quite well. If you happen to be a rock hound cruising through the area it would be well worth your time to stop in! read more
