This McDonald's, like so many others, is very hit and miss. Sometimes it's great (you know... for what it is), and others it's pretty awful. The service and staff seems to turn over quite a bit, but we generally have been treated well and gotten decent service. If I could give this 0 I would. I understand staffing is difficult due to COVID and I am very sympathetic to that. This has nothing to do with being short staffed and everything to do with workers present that don't value the role they have. We've been here 4 times over the past 2 weeks. Each time the orders are incorrect and we have to wait longer or go back in to get them corrected. Today, we waited 30 min AFTER they had our money to get our order. It was not staffing as we could see one girl standing around and stacking plates?!?! Why- When you have 20 cars in line and no one is moving? She showed no desire to help her drowning coworkers. Over all, very poor and slow service. Drive through is the worst I've ever experienced of any restaurant. Always make you pull ahead (even if there is no one behind you) and then don't keep track of who parked where. To the point, the workers have to continuously have go to multiple vehicles to try and figure it out. And don't even bother for dine in. I live in Hillsboro and have a strong dislike for this restaurant. In the last couple of years I'm not even sure how many times they have gotten my order wrong but I can tell you it's wrong more than it's right. I'll drive to Festus or Desoto rather than go there but with kids that doesn't always work out and I end up regretting my decision to go to the Hillsboro Mc Donald's. 2 weeks ago went there for breakfast and ordered 3 big breakfast with hot cakes substitute bacon instead of sausage. The screen showed sausage so I made sure to tell her it was supposed to be bacon instead of sausage. I saw sub bacon pop up on the screen and drove to the window to pay but the person in front of me paid for my meal so I didn't look at my receipt. Pull to the next window get my food check it, big breakfast with bacon no hot cakes. Look at my receipt it says big breakfast sub bacon. I get the lady at the windows attention and tell her what happened she turns and talks with the manager then turn to me and says I'll have to charge you for another big breakfast to offset the difference , I don't care at this point. I pay it and I'm asked to pull forward. 15 minutes later a different girl brings me a bag and apologized for the mix up. I look in the bag it's another big breakfast no hot cakes with sausage. I stop the girl before she walks away and explain everything, another 10 minutes later she finally gets me 3 orders of hot cakes. Tonight I was working on a home project that pushed dinner late, didn't feel like driving to another city for food and I'm let down yet again but this time it's from a raw burger. The last several times I have gone I was asked to pull forward to a reserved space. Each time they did not bring out my order. I had to go back in after a 20 minute wait. Today I refused and three employees screamed and cussed at me About their ticket times. I understand that this system is supposed to help move the line along, but I am unwilling to wait an HOUR for a cheeseburger. Get it together. Who treats customers like this? The second I started recording they changed their tone immediately and said, "Well our manager will tell you the same thing". Completely incompetent. I walked into the store just before 11 am today. No one offered to take my order so I put it in electronically -- my first time. I had no idea my food would not be prepared until I paid. I was standing around waiting for my order -- no one offered to have me pay. Not sure what the employees thought I was doing just hanging around. She said she didn't see me!! :) Thank God I finally asked to pay early just to speed up my time, and I was then informed my order was not started until I paid. Anyway, a few minutes later, I was given my order. You would think a hamburger this early in the morning would be fresh and hot. Well you will probably figure wrong at this restaurant. The McDouble meat was luke warm, one patty slid to one side of the bun and the other patty slid to the other side of the bun. The bun was stale and dry, not fresh and moist like a bun should be. Me and my friends came in ordered some things and then a few mins later the manager came up to us and started accusing us of driving through the drive through and cursing at the window people. We told her that we weren't those people and had other friends there that could back us up. She kept persisting and kept telling us to leave her restaurant. Just visited this facility here a little bit ago. I had my usual egg mcmuffin and a soda and my sister was with me and she had the biscuit egg and her soda. Food was perfectly done. This was a top notch experience. The facility was excellent. Bathrooms were high tech and exceptionally clean. The staff are just fabulous! Very courteous and friendly. We both agreed this was our best McDonalds experience ever! We are from the city of St. Louis where there's plenty of Micky D's and its ALWAYS a completely, shall we say, "DIFFERENT" experience. This doesn't fix anything because the Festus locations are owned by the same people but at least I get what I order and if I stay an eat it there I don't have to deal with all the flies. If you like uncooked meat, a messed up order, or dry food then the McDonalds in Pilot Knob is for you. I have eaten at many different McDonalds and this one is always the worst. The cheeseburgers are dry. When they mess up, they might correct their mistake but not without giving you a funny look or arguing about their less than perfect product. I think they hire just about anyone who wants a job on the street and the turnover is high so the they always have new people that are inexperienced. With as much as you pay for fast food if I have an issue that is more than minor I usually complain especially when it ruins my whole meal or I cannot eat it. At this Mcdonads the worst things I have experienced were pink uncooked and floppy chicken nuggets, a completely black big mac bun and a pink quarter pound patty. These are the worst that are on the top of my head. I also had gravy that tasted like paste once. It was not salty and did not even taste like food. It was un-edible. As you can see I eat there all the time because they are close to home and they are the only fast food joint around. If I want a tasty and juicy meal that I can count on I can find that at Desloge or Farmington McDonalds. I give it two stars because sometimes it is average food and I find it hard to completely ruin french fries unless they give you the wrong size or they are extremely cold and dry.
