I told her I'd like to read about it before I sign and she kind of looked at me like I'm crazy and said "I like to be more informed before I make a decision." She told me no one else had to think about it and I told her I did. That was weird and uncomfortable, especially when she turned from me and asked my wife. She gave the same answer. Selection is pretty broad but the store is very political and it's obvious. They have a sign that said "everyone is welcome, except ICE.", Black Lives Matter, gay pride, and anything that is demeaning to republicans. It's honestly distracting and disappointing. Someone who may not have the same beliefs may not feel comfortable walking around with fascist stickers, and everything that is demeaning towards "the right". Value is good and as I said before the selection is quite broad. There were a lot of pro-gay books which you never really see anywhere else. There are also all kinds of self help books and everything else you might expect. Overall I do recommend this place, but I can see how a large majority of people would feel really out of place here. That aside, it's a really nice establishment with very friendly staff. Not so crazy about the woman in the front pressuring me to sign her petition. I'm sure she meant well though.

I found a baby shower gift, an incredible nature book as a gift for my mother in law, and a beautiful hardcover book for my toddler! The children's section has a lot to offer as does the entire shop. It was beautifully organized and there were plenty of newly released books. The worker (owner?) who was in there at the time was very friendly and helped me find a few things! Everything is on the expensive side, but that's to be expected with a small bookshop. I'm glad to support local when I can! Can't wait to come back soon.

I was in the children's section looking for a book for a five-year-old and there was a family with their kids' reading books while they shopped, it was so sweet. I didn't stop after I found a book, I had to look around at all the cute other stuff they carry beyond books. A St. Louis section, candles, puzzles, games. Because it was the Holiday season they had check-out downstairs. I pulled a sucker and got to choose a book wrapped in brown paper, so it was a surprise. Also got a wooden key ornament to hang on the tree, so fun. Don't forget to browse the Romance side of the store, lots of goodies there as well.

There was a great book sale fundraiser going on that day, which has a long line outside for access to that. Even then, there was still parking on the back. I ended up browsing around, and I'd definitely go back for more. I got a cool hair clip (yes, at a bookstore!) in addition to my prints, and the employee was so lovely as well! There are signs for the different section. Staff (owner?) was friendly and helpful. I took some books to trade in and about half of what I brought was accepted, which is better than at some stores. I got an old paperback copy of a book I've been seeking in stores for a couple of years. There was good variety in the store and a nice local/Missouri history section. The cat is still there, so I'm happy as can be with Well Read Books. I will make a point of visiting again soon in the future.
