It was supposed to include four chicken wraps and four burgers. All four burgers were missing. I was in a hurry and did not discover the mistake until I got home, but I reported it to the company immediately. Jack's apologized but offered no refund, replacement, or credit. On August 23, I finally had an opportunity to return to the restaurant. Shortly before 9:53 p.m., I showed the manager my order on my phone and explained what had happened. She addressed me as "sir." I was clean-shaven and wearing makeup, a blouse, and a skirt--but more importantly, I directly corrected her and said, "I'm a woman." Her response was: "Tough luck." After I said I would report the incident through the chain of command and leave reviews, she deliberately called me "sir" two more times before I left. She verbally identified herself as Cherry McMurray. That spelling may be approximate because she refused to spell her name or write it down. She simply said, "They know who I am." For corporate management's reference, this occurred shortly before 9:53 p.m. on August 23, so the company should be able to identify exactly who was managing the restaurant at that time. Calling me "sir" the first time could have been an honest mistake. Calling me "sir" twice more after I explicitly corrected her was a choice. I did not ask her to understand my life. I asked her to stop calling me a man. Instead, a manager representing Jack's chose to humiliate a transgender customer. This should have been a simple customer-service issue: four burgers were missing, I had the receipt, and I had already reported the problem. Instead, I left without the food, refund, or credit I was owed--and was deliberately disrespected by the manager. I expect Jack's corporate management to address both matters: restitution for the food I paid for but never received and meaningful accountability for this manager's conduct. Until that happens, transgender customers--and anyone who expects basic human decency--should avoid this location.
