Finally made my way to Crazy Cat Eat Up for Sunday brunch. Service was top notch, as it always is. It's always laid back inside, with a mixture of couples, families and single people dining. Ordered the chicken and biscuit, which came with "house tators". I was really torn about getting the skillet cinnamon rolls but went with a safer bet health-wise. The Angel biscuit was super soft and light. Not overly sweet with a taste of buttermilk. The chicken was fried a little hard which made it crunchy but it wasn't burnt. It tasted good and I was so glad to be able to actually taste the Tabasco in the honey drizzle. It gave the sandwich a kick that didn't require me to need jelly for the biscuit. The potatoes were very good as well. Seasoned just right and not overcooked. I could also tell that the potatoes were sautéed fresh and not sitting under a heat lamp. We had really been wanting to try Crazy Cat for a while. When we walked in we immediately realized it was a lot nicer than we thought it was going to be. We were totally not expecting the dinner menu to be what it was after having looked at the yelp page and seeing the most popular items. Those items must be on the lunch menu because the dinner menu was much more upscale and I think the least expensive item we 20 dollars. We were planning on salads or a quiche. I ordered the redfish at the waitresses recommendation. A few minutes after ordering it, I was notified that they reached their limit of it for the night. So I ended up ordering the trout. It was good and had a nice flavor. I enjoyed my meal, but it definitely was nowhere what I was planning to have there. My husband and I have never eaten a bad meal here. My aunt and I went after her eye appointment. It was her first time and she loved it but then again, I knew she would. I stuck with a tried and true. The meatloaf sandwich. I am obsessed with their sweet and sour vinaigrette so I subbed it for my salad. My aunt had the spinach and artichoke quiche with the strawberry salad. I've had the tomato pie before...to die for. I was sad to see the shrimp and grits took an exit, stage left from the lunch menu. They were amazing! The real star of the show on this day was the cappuccino brownie. Y'all. You have to try this. The food was fresh and quick, with plenty of menu options in the $9-$15 price range for sandwiches, salads, and plates. For our meal, I ordered the quiche of the day (spinach and artichoke) which came with a strawberry salad. The quiche was a generous serving, as was the side salad. It's evident they keep the quiche warming throughout service, as my slice was a little dried out and over browned on top, but still enjoyable. My husband got the meatloaf plate which included two large slices of meatloaf accompanied by mashed potatoes and green beans on what seemed to be served atop a roasted vegetable sauce. My bite of his meal was scrumptious, and he enjoyed it as well! His meatloaf meal was certainly a better value for the price and serving size. Oh my word! Where do I start? We traveled over to Jackson for a radiation treatment for my FIL. I wanted to visit the yarn shop that is in the same shopping center as this eatery and can I say that it's a perfect choice! I had the catfish sauce piquant, absolutely delicious. The broiled catfish was on a bed of rice with black-eyes peas. My FIL has the shrimp & grits casserole. He said more than once that it was PERFECT. Got here 8 minutes before they closed without realizing it and they kindly took me in. The Greek salad bizarrely had grilled onions and was probably a 3 star meal, not actively terrible but not exactly great either. The bread pudding was doused in caramel sauce so it was bound to be good. The +1 star is for service. Great, attentive service that never rushed me even though I was really pushing it with their closing time.
