So my son loves spam musubi, and we drove here just for their unique Hawaiian Mc Donald's menu items, only to find out that they're just like the regular fast food chains in the Mainland. So..... I'm giving them 3 stars, just because they didn't have anything unique to Hawai'i and granted the customer service was great, punctual and they all had beautiful relaxing accents, the menu items were all the same as back in California..... so they loose a star for that. He was nice to patiently answer all my questions about redeeming deals via the McDonald's app. It's all about that customer service that can make a visit a joyful one. Chocolate Chip Frappe: Free with the McDonald's app :) This really hit the spot for my sweet tooth cravings. Loads of mini chocolate chips blended into the frappe. Yum! Taro Pie: Double check with the staff that you actually got taro pie and not apple pie (the wrappers are same). The taro pie itself is mellow + creamy + not overly sweet. The pie crust was light, crisp, and flaky. Filling has nuggets of soft taro cubes. I brought these along as snacks for my hike and they fit the happy bill. Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich: Buy-one-get-one (BOGO) free with the McDonald's app. A wanna-be Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich, and a darn good one too (though definitely not the same!). The chicken is well-battered and crunchy. Buns are soft. Great ensemble for a picnic lunch. Mickie D's is stepping up its game with these new artisan sandwiches. NGL never thought I was review a McDonalds but the only reason I am is because they have made it so easy to order and not have to stand in line. With the new app, you can get amazing deals especially on sandwiches and tenders (not McNuggets) butt real chicken strips- deals like 1$ any sandwiches and 5$ for 8 tender strips deep fried. The best part is you can order from your house and the app makes it so that they don't make your order until you arrive. That means hot food that you can either get thru drive thru, go into store or they can bring it out to you if you park in the pick up area. The only downside of the pickup areA, is that you feel like you need to tip them especially with all the rain in Waimea. It's a little awkward if you ask me. This is an older McDonald's but still nice and in A great location when traveling the island. Not a lot of McDonald's or stops sometimes so this location was nice to find. We need workers at this McDonalds BAD. They barely stay open past 7, went there on Tuesday, May 18th and drive-thru was closed before 6. Like, what? I used to frequent this place quite often on my daily commute to work. But after my experience today, I will no longer due business with this establishment. I can count more times on both my hands where an item was missing from my bag once arriving to work. Normally, I would double check my bag before I leave but why should I have to do that everytime?! Yup, they pissed me off. The price that rang up on the register was NOT what the price was on the menu board. Of course the register rang up higher than what was on the menu board (why is it never lower???). When I insisted I talk to the manager, she instantly handed me the change back and was very pleasant, but didn't act like she was going to change it in their computer system. I went to McDonald's today. I wish I could give 0 stars or negative if I could. Placed my order. Order was borderline warm, going towards the cold side. My order came out as soon as I placed it (which was great). Order #318. However, they failed to mention that the order sitting on the counter was mine. To be courteous, I did not want to touch another order or bag if it wasn't mine. Server had a whole bunch of receipts and threw them on counter. TWO employees checked the bag and receipts on counter, NO EMPLOYEE told my server that the order was ready. One of the employees, looked at the bag, order number, looked at me and rolled her eyes. Without alerting the other server that was taking orders. Finally, an employee told the server. I took my order, smiled, thanked them and walked out. I'm just curious, if you do not want to be at work to get a decent paycheck to pay for the expensive living here, why are you here? I work in a "customer first" atmosphere too. Just had to add this in because even though this was too long ago now (man I want to go back - to Hawaii not McDonalds!), I remember we went here to try the Taro pies. They were purple inside. And not bad. And everything in the town closed at 8pm and this was the only place open to eat at (apart from our spendy hotel restaurants). And the place we originally went to completely ignored us at the door, I guess because you know we were in Hawaii and were there in shorts and a t-shirt (we were in HAWAII during tourist season). Sad. Ordered a bacon egg and cheese biscuit through the drive thru. Down the road I opened my bag and got a sausage egg and cheese biscuit. I drive all the way back and went in explaining my problem. The cashier (or manager in black shirt) took out my sandwich from the bag and ordered the correct item from the cooks. Then she delegated to someone else to check if my sandwich was done. Another worker (in red shirt) was clueless as to what was going on. She got the correct item and placed it in my bag and I left.
