The brewhaus is an awesome little shack of delicious food and great drinks. I ride my bike around town a lot and it always makes me happy to hear music and laughter coming from this spot, even late after other businesses have closed. Not too many places stay open late here but this one doesn't disappoint. The staff is kind and positive and they informed me that they have gluten free bread although the website and menu don't say so. I got a bacon burger on some gf bread and it was amazing. Definitely recommend dropping by one night.

We had a "taste" of beers from Big Island Brewhaus while having lunch at Black Rock Pizza. So decided to head out on an adventure to the brewery. Beautiful drive from Kona, but parking can be a little tricky. Luckily, there are additional parking areas nearby. Ordered a BLT with fries and a Red Sea of Cacao Imperial Red to wash it down. Food was pretty good, beer was better. Definitely worth the trip (also purchased a t-shirt to celebrate our visit).

What a sweet spot! Luriline was our server and was so patient and informative to our large group the fried pickles were out of this world and the various brews and mai tai all were great! Highly recommend the fish bites and Poke nachos, the burgers were delicious! The ambiance was quaint and hometown vibe.

Best food find in the island. Seems to be a local hangout place, witch's always a good sign. Friendly staffs, good beer. The deep fried fish (famous fish bites) is the best...but everything we ordered from the place is so DELISH

We got the fish taco, garlic fries, and fish bites(mahi). Jenna was great!

Jenna, our server, was awesome! Our puppers, Triscuit, got his own little water bowl We could sit in the outer area with our dog, no problem. It's such a great service for fur parents, and excellent food too! The fish bites were mahi today, and it was 10/10. Garlic fries with aioli? The best. Will be back when we're in town!

Great place to grab some good food and amazing beers with awesome friends. The food was so good, we forgot to take pictures. The staff were friendly, helpful with the menu choices, and professional. We were there on a Friday night. They had live music which was amazing. They have indoor and outdoor seating - but we liked and chose the outdoors. Great ambience. The local beers are a must get along with any of the menu options . Next time you are in Waimea town, be sure to stop by Big Island Brewhaus. Go early as the parking lot is small and can fill up pretty quickly.

We liked this place. We had food and beer here. Both were very good. The service was friendly. We sat on the outside patio area. Gets crowded, so try to get there early. We arrived just before they opened, and there was already a line.

So happy to return here! This is a great Brewhaus with a great mix of both locals and tourists! Also we had the same great server we had last year and it's just a stellar playlist! Enjoyed their IPAs, fish tacos, fish bites ( which are insanely delicious ) and fried pickles! Everything about this place is just epic ! Great food , beer, service, crowd and music ! Just my kind of place and will return every time I am in the Big Island

So glad we stopped here!! So good!! The atmosphere was awesome, the staff were friendly, the food was bomb! I got the soup it was so dang good! My husband got the rye veggie sandwich. It was so refreshing and wonderful tasting. The bread was awesome. We also got the fried pickles!! Everything was top notch. Best food we have had on the island so far!

Photo doesn't appropriately depict how small they've gotten despite paying $26 for cheeseburger with fries.

This place has gone downhill in last year. It used to be my go to place when on island and food and service were always great. We went as a party of 6 a few days ago and the food portions have gotten significantly smaller, prices higher and it took 1.5 hours to get our food which was cold. My classic cheeseburger for $19 was a fraction of the bun, and to get a side of fries it's $7 additional. I want to do my best to support local but I wouldn't go back anytime soon because service and quality have gone down significantly and prices have gone up significantly. Several other places in Waimea to go to support local and have a great experience.

Rueben pastrami with garlic fries. Excellent!
    Mark F.

We had a most excellent Reuben pastrami sandwich at Big Island brewhaus. Could be the best Reuben pastrami I've had, ever. The bread was toasted instead of soaked in oil and browned like many places do. I can actually taste the caraway seed in the bread and the pastrami was plentiful. The garlic fries were also excellent. All in all this was a great meal. The beer selection is one of the best we've seen on any of the islands with the most taps. We enjoyed every beer we taste it and we did a few samplers to be sure that we didn't miss anything we wanted to try.

Famous Green Chili Stew ($12) soooo good!
    Lesley D.

This is the very best spot for beer on the Big Island. The White Mountain Porter in particular is perhaps the perfect specimen of its kind. It's chocolatey and coconuty and delicious. If you don't usually like porters or darker beers, ask them for a taste before you commit to a full glass. They do flights of all of their wonderful beers so check out the rest while you are here. Everything is pretty good. Last pro tip- do not sleep on their famous green chili stew! It will warm your soul on a misty Waimea day. Pros The very best beers Covered outdoor seating Friendly service Cons Parking lot can be full but you can easily park up the street...it's worth it

As far as the food and drinks, I actually enjoy Kona Brewery's beer more than Maui Brewing Co. I lean towards IPAs and Hazy IPAs but tried a flight which included a double IPA and a blonde and all were enjoyable. The food and service was just okay. I think we wanted something along the idea of French fries but was told that there is no fryer here so that threw us off a little. Especially when we thought we saw portobello fries online as an option from perhaps a different Kona Brewery restaurant menu. Our food orders included Kohala pizza, poke bowl, fish taco, and a cheeseburger. We wanted to grab a can of one of the IPAs to-go at the Growler Shack outside but they don't sell singles.

Yes, you read that right--sake at a golf course clubhouse. We were greeted by a nearly empty banquet room filled with tables of steaming rice and no staff in sight. I popped into the pro shop and finally tracked someone down. What followed was an unexpectedly awesome sake tasting experience. Our host, one of the 3 employees actually brewing sake on-site, set us up outside overlooking the golf course and proceeded to pour generous servings of five sakes, each better than the last. He gave us the lowdown on the brewing process, the history of sake brewing in Japan, their female co-founder's story, and even the ingredients they use--cue the passion fruit (lilikoi) growing on the vines right next to us! We tried their lilikoi-infused sake, and WOW--refreshing, delicious, and a must-try if you're stopping by. We ended up grabbing a bottle of that and a Junmai Daiginjo to bring home, both carefully wrapped for the trip. All in all, this funky little sake brewery made our day. If you're in the area, have a little free time, and enjoy a good sake (or just a great story), do yourself a favor and swing by. This is Volcano, Hawaii and there are not many choices. The place was bustling and the server was all over the place. Not a lot of options on the menu, but there were a lot of cheeseburgers coming out of the kitchen. Looked good. So, that's what we ordered. You could choose fries or a house salad. I wanted a refreshing house salad even though the fries looked good. The first clue that this might not be the right place to eat is that they only had 3 options for sald dressing, citrus miso, caesar, and one other--NO RANCH. OK, not a giant deal, but I wanted ranch. My wife wanted the poi cheesecake, but they were out. We decided to share the burger and she ordered coffee with cream and sugar. They brought out a french press, but no cream or sugar. When we finally were able to flag down the server to ask for cream and sugar, she said they did not have any cream besides coconut cream they use for cocktails. Not having any other option that's what she went for. It was just ok. Seemed like a waste of a $12 coffee. What place serving coffee doesn't have cream?!?! Ridiculous. When they brought out the burger, it looked great. The "house salad" on the other hand, was JUST LETTUCE. No tomatoes, no croutons, no cucumber--nothing to make it like any other house salad I've had before. I made a bad choice selecting a handful of lettuce instead of fries (value-wise and taste-wise). The burger was good, but nothing to write home about. Look up "house salad" in a dictionary. It should have at least something else besides lettuce. I feel cheated. The server, while very busy, was very pleasant. We didn't complain. We just ate, paid, and left. If you can, pick another place or go with the pizza or burger WITH FRIES.

Our server, Ryan, provided spectacular, world-class service. He didn't write a single part of our big order down and got absolutely everything 100% right. He was attentive, fast, and incredibly sharp--he even remembered at the end that my mother-in-law had asked for onion rings once she was finished, before changing her mind. Incredible! Now, let's talk about the food and drinks because WOW. We started with the drinks, and these were hands-down the absolute best Mai Tais we have had on the island. Every single dish that hit the table was a home run: - Escargot: Wow, wow, wow, wow! Absolutely phenomenal. The pesto and cheese with the garlic bread? Unreal. - Seafood Quesadilla & Coconut Shrimp: Perfectly executed and delicious. - Braised Short Ribs: Out of this world. Fall-off-the-bone tender. - Pineapple Macnut Slaw: Insane flavor. Lunch buffet was salad, BBQ pork ribs, BBQ chicken, corn, mashed potatoes, rolls, pie, soft drinks and water. After returning from our events, appetizers included shrimp, sushi, sashimi, fruit, Italian meat roll-ups, beer, wine and water. John (Ranch owner/manager) had a good patter about Ranch ops and history. Staff was knowledgeable, attentive, helpful and focused on fun (with appropriate safety) ops. Band was good. This is a true Hawaiian experience most people don't know about. Hawaii, especially Big Island, is known for a rich ranching background. A working ranch by day and every Wednesday night, they turn it into a BBQ Dinner experience. It kind of reminds me a bit like a Luau, but country style. Rolling green hills and pasture lands. Open bar, all you can eat feast and those slabs of macadamia nut pie are delightful! A great activity for all ages. Very relaxing and low key. If you have done a Luau then try this next.
