Note - This is a review only of McDonald's new Chicken Big Mac, which is available for a limited time - not this overall location. Excited to try it out. My ratings and expectations are in line with the fact that it is McDonalds, so the quality is a widely understood level and it's not a craft gourmet sandwich. My first observation included: 1) it was loaded with lettuce, pickles and Big Mac Sauce and 2) the batter-dipped patty looked dry. That being said, the chicken, which was not dry like the outside appeared (yet not necessarily juicy), took a back seat to the sauce flavor. When I did grab a bite of just patty, it didn't have a particular Chicken taste. Comparing the nutritional information, Chicken Big Mac has more calories and fat than the original 100% beef patty version - plus, there are a lot more ingredients to the patty than chicken. All that said, I'd likely opt for the Chicken Big Mac over the original if given the option. They should have a grilled chicken version. Is extremely sad how this mc Donalds have night employees who aren't properly trained extremely unprofessional like HENRY ! An employee who loves to disrespect customers provoking employees in such way that there can be a day a customer due to HENRYS unprofessionalism of treating disrespecting customers can cause a more serious problem ! I've literally never been to a worse establishment in my entire life. I've been going to this McDonald's for the last year or so pretty consistently and not. once. has my order ever been done within 10 minutes. But today was over the line. I waited for more than 45 minutes for my order. It was enough time for my order to completely disappear from the app. Eventually I spoke up and asked what was taking so long, and the manager woman who works nights and speak Spanish at the location had the audacity to tell me that I didn't get my order because I didn't tell her my number. Again, the order disappeared from my app after I waited so long. I couldn't have seen the number by the time they got to it. I will not be returning ever again. read more

This review is for a weekday breakfast. This has got to be the best McDonald's (for breakfast, at least) that I've ever been to in NYC. My sausage and egg biscuit was fresh and fluffy, the hash brown was crispy, the coffee was the perfect temperature and tasted great. The staff was friendly, and they have table service! I really enjoyed my meal. I will say that when you first enter, there was a slight funky smell. Am not sure if it was trash, or unwashed person...in any event, there were no signs of unhoused or troubled individuals inside at 10am when I was there. It has been over a year since I visited this Mcdonald and I am surprised at how they have kept this place nice and tidy after the remodel! The management and services have also changed and improved drastically! Its really impressive, and you can tell they work hard to keep it clean. There are several entrances to this Mcdonald and one window where you can walk by and order from outside. Inside you can either order at the counter or kiosks. There are 3 kiosks by the east entrance and 3 by the order counter. Another improvement is a new screen that tells you the progress of your meal now! Very similar to Panera letting you know whether your meal is in progress or ready to pick up, except instead of your name, it's your number on the receipt. That said I came for some 20 piece chicken nuggets and a vanilla coffee. The Kiosks only allow one sauce, however the guy at the counter gave us a few extra :) The place was clean and spacious and we decided to stay and have a nice meal. I am so happy that this Mcdonald improved so much! Kudos to the hard working staff and management. read more

I don't venture to McDonald's often. Rarely ever do I eat their food these days as I have calmed down a lot from eating fast food. But I will give McDonald's a lot of credit for having some damn good milkshakes that don't cost much and their fries with tartar sauce is still on point after all these years. Some have come to this location a few times being that it is in the neighborhood. Very clean McDonald's by the way. What keeps it from being a 5 is though is that it can be a bit of a wait for even small orders. Went here a few weeks ago to order a shake and it took damn near 10 minutes which shouldn't of been at all. Shouldn't even had been 5 minutes with 4 other customers. Came here again earlier this week to order another shake and fries. Wait wasn't AS LONG this time around but still around 5-6 minutes with only two other customers waiting for their orders. I will give them some leeway though being that it is possible they were making phone and online orders being that currently there is not seating service allowed. I just hope when the next time I go there for a shake that this really isn't a common theme, but other than that I am good with this McDonald's. read more

I have not been to a McDonalds in a while and I was pleasantly surprised when I came to this location. This place was very clean and employees were very friendly and most speak Spanish which is great for the non English speakers in the neighborhood. If you're eating in they will come by and take your temperature. They had a special so I ordered the double cheeseburger, french fries and chicken nuggets and it came out to less than $7. The cheeseburger was actually really good and the fries were as great as I remembered, the chicken nuggets were ok. There are not too many food options near the medical center so this is a good cheap option and they are open 24 hours. read more

While I rarely eat at fast food restaurants, if I want a hash brown at 2am I should be able to get one from a restaurant that says it's open 24 hours. Since it was remodeled the late night service has been a complete joke and an absolute lie. They have signage that they randomly move around the restaurant indicating that there is 24 hour service at the window, but there's never anyone there after the dine-in service closes. Take a look. The sign and no one is there--and this is the rule, not the exception! Get it together, 170th St. You may have had a gorgeous makeover, but your service is more rotten than before. read more

Quite tired of finding certain things in my food. Won't be back. Examples: Lint, paper, hair, sauce that belongs on another type of sandwich. This McDonald's really sucks. The security guards stare at you the entire time you are eating, even if you order a head of time you have to wait for at least 10 minutes even after you get there. The only time the place actually runs the way it is supposed to is when their owner's show up which is rare. I honestly think it's a cultural thing. Most places in this area operate the same. While it is definitely not out first - or even 10th - choice of eateries, we somehow always stop here for breakfast on the the 1st morning after I arrive. This time around I got a Big breakfast with hotcakes & the boy got a Big breakfast & a Wild berry smoothie. While we ordered almost the same thing, our food were significantly different sizes. My hotcakes were more lukewarm-cakes & I even found a hair!! The smoothie tasted like artificial sweeteners & didn't have much berry fragments to be found. The good news is this McDonalds is renovated outside and inside including ordering through touchscreens although you can still order with a human and there are restrooms that aren't a pain to access. 3. Always check your food. 7/10 you're missing an item or they got your order wrong. Yes even if they fix it, still double check. I've had them give me my order wrong 4 times in a row. 4. If you go to the walk-up window be forewarned there are bums there asking for food & money all the time since there's a shelter just a couple of blocks away. If you go late night, 9/10 times there will be someone there asking you for food & money; and they're picky. I once asked the guy what he wanted from the menu so I could buy it and he said he didn't want anything from the menu and wanted the money for Popeyes. Also if you do go late night there's likely to be a line, yes even in the dead of winter so order ahead in the app and skip the line and ask for your order. 5. No drive-thru but as I mentioned has a walk-up window. There's parking on Broadway but I guarantee you if it's outside the metered hours, parking will be taken. I was placed on "hold" while they were arguing about how many fries they thought they were supposed to give me in Spanish because they thought I didn't speak Spanish but I do. Wahhhhhh, not sure if this McDonald's is worth my time to review except it is because some of the highlight's I can't blame the management for. IT IS BUSY UP IN HERE! These kids that come in here at night make up for 35% of the customers and they make the place crowded. On my visit the place was a bit dirty (left over food on some tables), the restroom is dirty even though there is a lady cleaning and mopping. I came here to use the restroom, open to public, thank you for that. I bought a drink and was given a cup to use the Coco Cola soda fountain, the new ones with the touch screen to select your brand and flavor, I had to wait on line to get soda, not just a uniform line a crowded bunched up line that made no sense, it's these kids fooling around. There's two, one was out of order. My peach Mellow Yellow drink tasted like plastic. Damn it. I was going to give the McDonald's two stars but I change my mind, no experience like it in Washington Heights, except maybe in Brooklyn somewhere. Make that money McDees. If the staff here were any slower, I'd swear they had some uncanny ability to freeze time to a near-standstill. I come here before my overnight shift at the hospital nearly every nice for convenience, and get a coffee (black, no sugar). More often than not, people who order entire meals behind me get their food, drinks, desserts, etc WAY before I get my one simple coffee. At least 9 or 10 times I have had to produce a receipt showing I've been waiting for 17+ minutes for my coffee when people behind me are being served immediately. I agree with Jocelyn A that this is truly "the worst McDonald's I've ever been to". Its as if its not even part of the franchise. I work at nearby New York Presbyterian Hospital and have been to this McDonald's many times throughout the years, also living across the street from it. Visually, its like any other McDonald's but do not expect to eat in peace with a nearby Armory Men's homeless shelter two blocks down at 168th Street, there is a constant flow of beggars at the door as well as table-to-table begging as you eat your food. Afternoons and evenings, bootleg DVD sellers visit the table as you eat too. Children in the play area are allowed to run crazy all over the restaurant and management does nothing. No one's in charge here and anything's allowed except for probably entering the cooking area. The biggest problem is the homeless beggars. I stopped going there years ago after a homeless was denied my spare change during breakfast with my then 8-year-old son. In protest, he leaned in closer to my face literally screaming 'gimme some!" I got up, went to the counter to speak to the mgr. to report him and SHE shook her head in agreement and told me she had one more day until her transfer went through and she was outta there. She remarked that this McDonald's was the worst one she'd ever worked in. I mean wow - from an employee, and a manager at that!? That day was the last I went there and haven't returned since. Angry homeless + me with my son = leave! I've seen other episodes customers' tables approached by homeless making rounds asking for spare change - either irate or "nice" - they are relentless. Be ready. Every week DAY, homeless are parked at both doorways to beg in/out bound customers for money. Neither the employees or the manager could care less. No one's charge at this McDonald's. Whoever the regional franchise owner is - doesn't care either because as it's always been like this. I'm a New Yorker - I've dealt with my share of random NY weirdo encounters so I'm not some primadonna whose horrified by homeless folk. This place has a regular flow of episodes revolving around the homeless vs. customers and too many of them are bold or bold and angry if they're denied spare change. THEY NEED TO EMPLOY A SECURITY GUARD. The majority of the employees are young girls who aren't going to confront an unruly homeless beggar harassing the customers. There's no men employed there and if I've seen any, it's usually a scrawny teen boy. No one's in charge there - no authority. If you heed my warning and instead decide to go to the outdoor walk-up window stil beware, homeless men are parked there too begging you for change as you wait for your food.!!! Overall, the best part in the long run is that with each "dining experience" worse than the last, it helped me get off fast food. read more

It's not like I expect a terrific experience out of a McDonald's but this place really is the worse McDonald's I've ever been to. I would go to any other fast food joint over a McDonald's but this is all we've got in this area that is affordable...and there really is a lot of McDonald's in NY so you end up at one a lot of the time. The NEVER have ice cream for milkshakes, sundaes ect. Also, there is never any ice in the ice machine. And o they run out of parfaits early in the day. The food is like any other McDonald's...it's fast food, what do you want me to say? One thing that really annoys me is they ALWAYS forget something in my order. Probably...70% of the time something is missing and it's not like I order food for an entire family either so I have no idea how they manage to forget something all the the time. The employees are really terrible at their job. They have terrible customer service skills and they can't even get the order right majority of the time. They're definitely in need of retraining, or just an entirely new team in general. I don't expect them to be smiling. They DO work at McDonald's, I get that, I wouldn't exactly be cheery either, but seriously, at least make sure all the items are in the bag before handing it to me. It's not like I'm that asshole who asks to for no pickles, no bread, and no onions to a mcdouble. Seriously man?! This is McDonald's not The Yard House. It's a dollar, you can remove the pickles your damn self. If you can afford Popeye's a few blocks down, go there (nicer employees, quicker service, less crowded and well GOOD CHICKEN!). If I could give zero stars, I would. I placed an order on the mobile app late at night. I showed up to pick up my food, was told they were closed (even though it was still well within their open hours, and there were several employees there), was told that they couldn't give me a refund, was screamed at by an employee when I asked for a manager. Never got my food, and am being given the runaround by McDonald's customer service. Essentially, McDonald's stole $12 from me and the employees treated me like crap. read more
