Found a cool little burger joint in North Liberty for lunch on a Thursday! ;) See below for my thoughts: Food: I ordered a Buffalo Ranch Snack Wrap, 4 Chicken Tenders, and a Cheeseburger. McDonald's food is so gas, but my stomach was doing backflips about an hour or two after I ate. Service: The staff was a little rough to say the least. I overheard some questionable dialogue while waiting for my food. Also, the ordering kiosk didn't give me a receipt after I paid, so I had no clue which number I needed to claim as mine. Ambiance: There is plenty of seating in the dining area of this McDonald's. However, it looks like it has seen its better days. Can't say I'd ever recommend eating at McDonald's, but this location is fine in a pinch. read more

This place sucks. I've known it for quite some time now, but it finally come to my breaking point where everyone needs to know how bad this place sucks! They have screwed up so many orders in this last time was the last straw. I went onto their app and ordered breakfast at 10:20, mind you I'm only 3 minutes away from this place, and they canceled my order. So at 10:30, he said that they are no longer serving breakfast even though I had ordered it at 10:20. What an absolute joke. And people want to raise the minimum wage... nope! Haven't been here in a while. Put my order in on the app to save time. I set the order for curbside pickup. When I got there, the curbside pickup spots were missing all their posts. I parked anyway and put my hazard lights on. My order came out fairly quickly and I left for my next errand. It wasn't until I picked up my wife and daughter that I checked the order. The order was supposed to have five (5) cheeseburgers. It only had four (4). We were on a time crunch, so we didn't have time to turn back 5 miles the opposite direction to go deal with this. read more

Last night at 7:50 pm I decided to grab supper "quickly" at the McDonalds in North Liberty. I pulled in and was asked to wait for a minute. There were several car in drive-through so this wasn't uncommon. I waited and watched the line of car progress and get to the point where there was just one caretaking around corner of building. This was 15 mins of NO response from staff. I stated into the speaker "Hello" on 4 separate times with no response. So I proceeded to move forward to go to window. This was at 8:15 pm. There were only 2 cars in front of me but it took another 10 mins to get to window where Josiah started to hand me a happy meal. I said that wasn't my order and that it had take 25 mins to get to this window. I told him he'd asked me to give him a minute and that was 25 mins ago. He looked at the clock and told me "Well you could have gone somewhere else"! When he said this a woman who I believe was the shift manager took him don't say that and continued doing something with cups. I ask for a large drink only, fearing another 1p min wait, Josiah gave me my drink and change with an attitude and I left. I know his name because I ask him what it was. There were only 7 car in the lot so they didn't have a rush going on. I will go to Burger King down the road 2 miles rather than deal with this kind of treatment again. Worst McDonald's I've ever eaten at! There bun warmer has been broke for at least a year so their buns are always cold and they try to warm them by putting them on the grill and toasting them but instead they burn them. Also the cheese on the BigMac's and fish sandwich's is never melted at all! I lived near this McDonald's for five years and I continually return hoping that one day I'll actually get hot fresh fries but it has never happened, not even once. Couldnt pick NO STARS! Went there this AM to get breakfast for the family. Spent $40!!! Got home: All 10 Hash browns (@$2.50 A PIECE) were luke warm & HARD as rocks like they had been refried & oil logged. Breakfast bagel had 2 bottom bagels & were not hot at all. This is the kicker--called & asked to speak to a manager. He said he was the manager & said we had to bring the food back to him for him to do anything. Told him I was at work & this wasn't possible at the moment--he said he could do nothing then. Asked to speak to the general manager then all of a sudden he became the general manager!! He immediately knew our order & said " yes this was a pricey order"! My husband is a REAL chef & knows fresh hash browns--taste & texture. These were not fresh & not even edible. So, in essence, this McD's thinks u r out to scam THEM when what they selling u is inedible food & then refuse to stand by their product. We drove to NL from IC cause all the other McD's in IC don't care anymore. So add this one to the list. I guess what did I expect from a fast food chain that sells E & F grade beef to our children! (FYI--prisoners get served D grade!) Suffice it to say McDs will b not be on the menu ever again.I mean u can eat at Perkins for the same price & get REAL food. The other day I waited 10 minutes in line because I really wanted a sprite but I also got a fry, whatever. Once I got my sprite the taste was off so I went back in to get a different drink. In the lobby drink machine I noticed a bug... I looked it up and it was a cockroach! I told the young man at the counter and he was very nice about it and offered me a refund. When I came back in the manager Larissa, was grabbing the roach out with a napkin then just threw it in the trash, she didn't clean it out or nothing! The same manager was very rude to me and provided me with no reassurance that this was the first time they had been made aware of this issue! I will absolutely NEVER go there again. read more

couldn't select less than one star... Left sitting in the drive thru in the morning as other cars went ahead of me and in the second lane. Lunch time I ordered a double quarter pounder and told to pull up to wait. previous trips I was left to sit after ordering online and sat at curbside. no one ever came out. finally went in and was told the system wasn't working by the two workers inside who were right by the window where I was parked waiting. read more

The staff is rude. There is almost always something wrong with the order or items missing. Their milk shakes are the consistency of milk. This location has been a mess since it's been opened. And after talking to the manager today, I can see why. If you have poor management, you'll have poor employees. Go to the Coralville location. You'll be happy you did. read more

When picking up an order through the McDonald's they take so long to bring it out so I have to go through the drive through to get my order.

Generally okay service just check your bag for mistakes. Also they say they open at 5am. That must mean just for employees to be inside laughing and talking together because as a customer you'll sit at the drive thru menu, or the window with now acknowledgement. read more

Sat in drive thru the two cars in front of me both waited for minutes than pulled out without ordering...I get to the speaker and sit there for five minutes without anyone saying anything...pulled out of line had to go inside where they were equally unpleasant and slow...they have enough staff this is just incompontence! read more

The North Liberty store does not understand that the burrito is an all day menu item and has been for the last five years. Trying to order and they'll respond "that's a breakfast item". Things went downhill when the McDonald's corporate bought the local stores. read more

I hate going to this location, orders are usually wrong, food is usually sub-par and the employees generally don't seem to care at all. I have found that if you *need* to go here, go inside so you can stare at the employees and check your food for accuracy before you leave. Even then the rate of getting what you ordered is usually about 80%. I've had Happy meals with no fries, no drinks when ordered, incorrect drinks, incorrect sizes, chicken sandwiches when I ordered hamburgers, etc. Also, the staff is unbelievably LOUD, no one seems to talk only screech at each other. I've also been ignored while cashiers talk to their friends and wait for them out of line while managers run around. If you have to do a drive-through McDonalds either go to Coralville or stop at the one by the airport in CR. read more

Food wise it's McDonald's. Felt very offended after I had a question on the kiosk, ( nobody to take orders at the registers, but can take your money.) Was told by the the lady she couldn't hear me because of her head phones, I asked if it would be faster to go through the drive thru and she said yes. The second time I have had my order messed up in some manner. The first time, it took ten minutes to get an iced coffee. As someone who works at McDonald's, I know it does not take that long to make one. This time, they gave the wrong sauce somehow (I simply asked for mustard, not honey mustard/hot mustard), and I was shorted a nugget? I had forgot my wallet and asked about Apple Pay. Drive-thru attendant said they do accept that. I just needed 2 minutes to get cash loaded on Apple Pay but instead I was rushed and kicked out of the drive through. She told me I was taking too long and that it was not going to work... I was the only person in the drive-thru as this was at night. Incredibly inconsiderate of the situation and a lot of impatience from that individual... August 28, 2022, Sunday morning 10:30 a.m. My 12 yo grandson chose to go to McDonalds for his birthday breakfast outing. As soon as we entered we heard the staff bickering and hollering at each other. One staff member threatened to walk out and go home. Others were complaining that they couldn't keep up with the drive thru orders. Someone yelled that people had been sitting in the drive thru lane for 20 minutes. Another asked why they were even open. The shake machine was not working, the orange juice machine was not working. Someone walked in and tried to order on the kiosk but it wasn't working either. She let her approximately 3 yo bare foot son stand on a table. After we ordered and finished eating we heard someone say they were out of biscuits. I hate this McDonald's. I would rather drive 15 minutes away to a different McDonald's than go to this one that's only 2 minutes away from my house. I was waiting at the ordering lane for 10 minutes while they continuously took orders at the other one (there were two lanes in this drive thru). OK so I am actually reviewing a McDonald's, it was that bad. I thought the couple of reviews here were harsh but based on my experience they were being quite nice. This is a small town and in my experience small town fast food places are usually pretty damn good because they often make up the close options for something to pick up. Service is usually good as people are part of the small community and are your neighbors. None of this is true here, the service in the drive through is horrible and the food is bad, even by McDonald's "standards." I was hungry and made the poor decision to go here because it was close to where I was going. Never again, I suggest starving over this place. read more
