This is something small but super annoying, I clearly am on the road and trying to get somewhere if I order my coffee only through the drive thru. Except now I have to pull over, pour in the Splenda, try not to get coffee everywhere, and then try to stir it in with the straw they so nicely provided. Wish they would have handed the creamer out the window as well. Typically places put Splenda in at the bottom so it dissolves with the entire drink. But hey, I'd love to pour it in and stir it with your flimsy straw while in a moving car. Thanks for looking out, cheers. read more

Maybe it's because this place is staffed by kids who don't know the first thing about service and managers who really don't care how this place is run. This is the only McDonald's in town. You could be the only person in the drive-through, and not only will they make you pull over to wait for your food but there will be an issue with it. Either the wrong size or something was missing you could come through early in the morning or right before closing, and they will still make you pull into a spot to wait for your food. read more

Went through the drive through because I wanted coffee and a McGriddle and I'm to lazy to go in. And I said I would like a sausage McGriddle add cheese the person who took my order didn't put it in. I pulled up to the next window and asked them to make sure it was add cheese and the kid argued with me that it comes with cheese. Needless to say I didn't get any cheese. The food here is almost always junk. Hard buns, cold fries. Wont answer the phone to chat about it either. I sat again for 14 minutes waiting on my order when i can see it sitting on the back counter. Its cold and old. Tastes disgusting luckily i had places to be. read more

This is a pretty decent McDonalds. For being in the middle of Oelwein, they've done a fantastic job of keeping up on the interior and exterior. It drives me nuts that they don't have a sidewalk in front of their building, but aside from that, they do a pretty good job. The exterior is regularly plowed during snow and the garbage is regularly picked up. It usually looks nice. The current outdoor LED screen even reads "Lovin' Oelwein" at the moment. The interior is nice as well. There are booths as well as tables. I don't go inside very often, but when I have, the interior has been clean and there have been open and clean tables to use as well. The bathrooms have been clean as well. It can feel a bit crowded if the McDonalds is really busy, but otherwise, it seems like a decent interior. When it comes to the food, McDonalds is just a standard McDonalds. They have two drive-thru order areas, so even during high-traffic times, they do a good job of getting people in-and-out. As the only drive-thru food place in town, they are constantly busy. Despite that, I don't think I've ever waited more than 5 minutes in the drive-thru lines in the two years that I've lived here. Food orders are accurate. In the entire two years, I can only think of once that I've had to go inside and fix an order after having issues through the drive-thru. Food is usually very warm, and I can expect the food to taste about the same no matter when I go and get some. No quality-control issues here. The staff is friendly enough. Nobody seems to go "above and beyond", but I've never had any issues with rudeness or incompetence either. Just seem like good people doing a good job with what they do. Final Thoughts: This is a basic McDonalds chain, but they do a decent job. Food is delivered to you promptly, and I've never had an issue with incorrect orders or quality issues. Staff is friendly enough, and the interior and exterior are clean. If Oelwein only has this single fast food restaurant, I'm glad it ended up with one that's well so taken care of. read more

It's a running joke in this town that you have to order your meal twice just so you can get all of your order. The quality of food has really been going down and no matter what you order they seem to always have to have you "pull forward because we are waiting on the (insert any food). The wait can be up to 20 minutes depending on the order. I would say the food itself is probably about a 3/10 while the only saving grace would be the employees themselves. A lot of the employees are very kind and attentive and some just dont care. I would suggest finding the employees that actually care and start giving them raises and leadership roles. read more

I do not recccomend this mcdonald's. we got our drinks and they sent us up to wait for the food. after sitting for a while the lady came out with our food, and went to another vehicle with it. they sent the bag into the car and they rummaged through the bag to realize it wasn't theirs. then they went back in with the food and came back out to the car behind us and again sent the bag into the car to rummage. the lady went inside and then came back out with more food to our car, we told her it wasn't ours so she went back to the car behind us, who mind out had this food for a while. and switched the food, then tried to give it back but we said we wouldn't take it back. she went inside with the food, and my friend went in to get the food and overheard them talking about just re wrapping the food. AND on top of this we were short a fry. so not only did this take a half hour the service was horrible. read more
