Normally this McDonalds is simply bad. Cold food. Fries soggy from being cooked in old oil, long waits.... And tonight they came up with a new way to sick. They arr open bit, after the app let me place and pay for an order, they tell me when i pull up "we are only handling door dash orders". Really? Your app users cand just screw off? Well, it's McDonalds, so that tells you all you need to know. Both times prior when I ordered a Big Mac with no cheese, it came with cheese, so my recommendation would always be to check your food at the window. Most recently, I ordered and selected for pickup in the spots off to the side because I was pressed for time. Instead, it took twenty minutes to come out, and the employee who brought it out tried to argue with me, saying that I had selected it for pick-up in the drive-thru. I hadn't and showed her my online receipt and label on the bag that said I hadn't, but she continued to stand at my car and argue for three minutes. I come here pretty often and at random times in the day. That being said, I am quite surprised about the 2 star rating here. Every single time I come here the food is fresh, the staff is extremely kind and pleasant, they always have my food well organized in the bag and have never forgotten anything in my order! The lobby is locked, they won't answer the phone and the drive thru line (which I am now in) has not moved in over 10 minutes. Even the guy who handed me my food was super nice and I told him the guy that collected my money was overly nice and it was a great experience! They really do have the world's best and most famous fries for sure. I have eaten McD'S for American comfort food when I have been abroad and tired of eating the local cuisine after a couple of weeks of it. I used to love their simple small regular cheeseburger, the one that would come with the happy meals. I would really like to see more food options for vegetarians besides a salad. How great it would be to see an impossible patty on their burgers or in their breakfast biscuit sandwiches, I would indulge once a week on some vegetarian burger and biscuit options if they existed. This location is the Ruth Chris of McDonald. When you wake up fighting for your life at dawn on Sunday morning in dire need of a meal that will push you from pre diabetes to needing a lil bit of evening insulin- these disciples of the lord are whomst you rely on in your time of need. These employees might not have a 5 star attitude but they sure know how to make a delicious Big Mac. I don't go to McDonald to have a meaningful conversation, that's what your church's fish fry is for. You can't expect a minimum wage employee to have the will to live enough to want to chat with you about the gaping pothole out front of this business or your nieces pronouns, save that subpar conversation to make your family uncomfortable at thanksgiving. If said pothole bothers you so much, DIY some asphalt and use the stick up your ass to spread it evenly amongst the large cracks in the road. I don't have a lot of vices. I don't gamble. I don't smoke. I don't imbibe in alcohol. No illicit drug use. But I do have a mad addiction to McDonald's Diet Coke. Say what you will about cans and bottles...a fountain cup of McDiet is carbonated ambrosia. Each McDonald's location has machines that perfectly dispense the correct amount of liquid into the cup. There are dummy lines on the cup that tell McWorkers how much ice goes into the cup for the perfect pour. But at the Royal Oak McD's, they skimp on ice consistently...and there is always an inch of empty cup. I don't think that it's an ice shortage issue, being the dead of Detroit winter. I've been to locations around the area, and they get it right. Even the one on the scary part of Woodward in Detroit. So why do I keep going to the one in Royal Oak? It's convenient. It's right by my kid's school. And I don't have to get out of my car. I complain each time they skimp on my McDiet, and they will sometimes give me a new one. But I've been told they can't do anything because they are "short-staffed." One other gripe...items you can get 2 for a dollar. Like apple pies. If you say "two apple pies," they charge $1.50 (since they are $.75 each). If you want the discount, you have to specifically say "two for a dollar apple pies, please." read more

Every time i come to this location, i wonder why i do. The employees are all completely rude and disrespectful. They told people that walked in the dining room it would be a 20 min wait on all orders. There was ONE PERSON ahead of me and it STILL took over 15 min for me to get a single taco and chips n cheese. That's it. Over 15 min. A customer came in that had gone through the drive thru and got the wrong order. They were completely rude and when he left, the cashier went on about how fat he was and that he didn't need it anyway. As im eating, they are literally yelling about the "shit all over the bathroom." This location is always dirty, always rude, and never a good experience. DO NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. ANY. While I understand working on a holiday is never enjoyable making it the customers problem is not acceptable. Associate yells at the top of her lungs our food is ready but fails to give us our sauces or drinks. Another associate was extremely polite and got us our drinks and even offered a drink carrier and apologized. The woman in the purple shirt with glasses then I can hear sitting at the back with my child constantly cussing and complaining the whole time. I feel as a customer I know more about their staffing issue as they close at 4pm today than I should have. As she tried to rush us out while we were still eating I finally said something. My husband got this all on video and we will be following up with corporate as well. The food is decent here most of the time. However, it's slow as I don't know what due to there only being one drive thru line instead of two. The customer service is some of the worst I've seen out of all McDonalds locations. I gave my feedback to corporate about this location and it did get a little better. However, it's still slow most of the time and I rarely get thanked or told to have a nice day. They usually just give me my food and say "you're all set" or thru don't say a word. I'm sure that everyone who works there is doing the best they can. They either need to hire different people or they need to do a better job of training them. I'd like to see them get better at parking cars when the first person's order isn't ready. I've been in the line waiting for 5-10 minutes before when they could have just parked a few cars. The drive-thru service leaves quite a bit to be desired. If you manage to come during the day and order breakfast or lunch, the service can be rather QUICK. At night, just like the Sonic nearby can be a totally different story. Overall, they never have gotten my order wrong here and have always been quick to fix problems when they arise with what you've gotten. They even tell you to pull over to a special parking space if your food takes too long. At least they have the decency to do so, the Sonic across the way doesn't. Not bad. read more
