As far as McDonald's go, this one is just an average run of the mill location. With that being said, I ordered a McDouble and chicken nuggets and they were fine. To explain, the McDouble was tasty and was made correctly. On the other hand, the nuggets were definitely left out because they didn't taste fresh at all. The food was serviceable, but could have been better. However, the best thing about this McDonald's is that it is open 24 hours a day. This location has obviously had some issues according to the sign that says "no refunds" on all of their windows. I went through the drive through and I asked for a coffee drink. I guess the order taker didn't understand what I wanted, and started asking me questions about what type of coffee drink I wanted. After a few questions, I thought that we got it right. When I got to the window to get my food, I was asked what I ordered (shouldn't they have known?). I had to repeat my order and explained the coffee drink situation. While a team member was making my drink, the order taker came over because the drink they were making was different than what she had indicated on the receipt, even though I thought we communicated what I wanted in the first place. It was a very strange and confusing situation and they also took forever. I was the 2nd person in the drive through and when I drove away, there was 5 cars waiting to go through. I admit, McDonald's isn't remotely close to fine dining, but it is cheap, reliable, and *generally* something that is pretty fast. Not this location. Being the closest fast food to RPI, it's convenient. Every time I'm at this location, I say "never again", yet I return 6 months later in hopes they've improved, only to repeat this process. I have been to hundreds of McDonald's locations around the world and this easily ranks as one of the five worst I have visited. Actually, no, it might be THE worst. Yeah, it looks modern, but step inside and the dining room is filthy. Floors tend to be wet or sticky. The speed is anything but, with 15 minute waits for cold food not uncommon. Half the time, I end up sending it back because my order is wrong. I could make the burger and fries myself in less time than it takes to place and receive an order here. Ray Kroc would roll over in his grave if he found out about this place. Let me tell you a little secret: there's another McDonald's a few miles down the road next to Walmart. Go to that one. Even if you spend an extra 15 minutes driving, you'll probably get your food faster AND have a more pleasant experience. read more

I've been here a few times because it is a block away from where I stay when I visit Troy and some days, I'm just too lazy to walk 15 minutes downtown. Needless to say, I'm surprised this franchise is still open. They have never, ever gotten my order right. Ever. The very first time I went, I ordered a mocha latte and they simply forgot about it (not sure how that happened since they should've seen it on their screen some time in the 15 minutes I stood there). Another time I ordered a McDouble and got 20 nuggets instead. Not exactly sure how that was misheard. Another time I ordered a McChicken and got a McDouble. If my orders weren't valuated at $2 and replaced with equivalent or greater meals, I would have stopped visiting a long time ago, convenience be damned. The cashiers are friendly enough, but everyone in the kitchen needs to be replaced. Their drive-through is busy and I'm guessing all the effort goes into that. The interior is well-lit and has a "cafe" area with fancy-looking seating. Walked in to this Mcdonalds and when asked to be helped by a woman with a hair net and nose ring, we responded that we needed a second. When we went up to the counter after a couple minutes we heard the same woman say to coworker "how can i be rude without getting in trouble?" And then proceeded to say "how can i help you?" Stopped at about 5 pm July 6th. there were no less than 5 vagrants taking up 4 different booths. 2 of them were sleeping on the table, with phones and music players plugged in. Another "customer" was sitting right outside the men's room, and followed 2 different people in there for brief moments and coming out with them each time,(I am thinking drug dealer) he had no food at his table either. if that were not enough, a group of no less than 6 people came in and proceeded to sit themselves at the last available table. They did not buy anything there but sat down and proceeded to dine. Staff did nothing to control the Riff Raff in the place. I am afraid the McDonald's corp. has lost control of yet ANOTHER one in TROY. I will NEVER set foot in that one again. and I will make it a point of telling all my friends. be WARNED stay away! What a shame too. it was a very stylish place when it first opened.Now it looks like a hell hole.
