Needed my daily caffeine fix after traveling up to Albany. My friend's favorite recommended we stop here. I tried their cold brew and I loved it, it's very smooth. None of that harsh/ bitter after taste, reminded me more of a nitro cold brew which was pretty awesome. Also tried their iced apple cider because it's the season for apple cider and boy I'm glad I did. Such a treat, I loved it. Will be my first stop anytime I visit Albany.

I was looking into cafes and this was the first one that popped up and was recommended. It's a really cute and minimalistic shop. I ordered the matcha with almond milk which was good but seemed like any other matcha. I think my favorite part was the sweetener options so I chose honey! I also ordered their banana bread and it was small but really good! The perfect amount of sweetness and it wasn't dry at all. Service was great as well! The barista was really sweet and welcoming!

    Delicious collection of drinks!

We had taken our daughter out for a day trip from a nearby college and on our way back to her school, we wanted some good coffee. I found Alias on Yelp and we decided to give it a shot. The shop has been open for around a year, it's clean and bright and the decor is fantastic! Trendy art on the walls, nice rugs, comfortable seating. Staff was friendly and gave helpful advice on the right drink to go with. They recommended an Americano and I really enjoyed it, nice and robust. My wife enjoyed a latte and my daughter had a nice hot chocolate. Definitely would return the next time we're in town.

This cafe actually surprised me by how large and minimal it was. It was super vibey and the staff was nice. I ordered an iced matcha latte w/ oatmilk and it tasted soo good! I went up and ordered another one and a different person made the drink so it was a little more milky than expected but I love the vibes here.

With not much open on a Saturday morning, we were pleasantly surprised to walk into this coffee shop to grab a couple cappuccinos. Very spacious seating and lots of room to read the magazine and enjoy the wonderful cappuccinos itself. I also ordered a banana bread (with chocolate) and a chocolate croissant to enjoy. It was fairly quiet inside, but this looks like the perfect place to get some work done or read a book during the weekdays. I'd highly recommend.

What a lovely place! It did take me a couple trips around the block and some bad parallel parking to find a parking spot but once I did, it was a great. The menu is simple and they offered 3 flavored syrups as options so don't come if you're looking for a fru fru (spelling? I made it up) coffee drink. My maple latte was delicious and the foam design was just what I was looking for. I also spent an hour in the comfy chairs in the front window and I will absolutely return.

Well done Alias, just stopped in this morning and was greeted by friendly staff. The coffee is the best I have had in Albany. I am on travel and have been trying coffee shops throughout the downtown area. Very relaxed and comfy seating area, great artwork and definitely a place I would go to work for an afternoon. Most important is the coffee was phenomenal one sip of my macchiato and all of the notes of the espresso came through. Thanks for the great start to my morning Alias. I would recommend to anyone in the area to make this your go to spot.

I was looking for a cup of coffee in downtown Albany on a Saturday afternoon, Dunkin's was closed but I came across Alias and was thrilled. The space is very open and airy and decorated with calming art, a nice place to chill. The service was friendly and my Americano was perfect. I even purchased an adorable rainbow sprinkle donut for Pride. A very nice spot, check it out. But can you buy the art? Some of it was pretty awesome.

I don't know what I did to deserve multiple excellent coffee shops opening up near me within a couple of weeks, but I need to keep doing it. The vibe here is a lot different from my other favorite local spots: it's open, bright and serene, with a very millennial Apartment Therapy design aesthetic that I think works really well here (kilim rugs and fiddle leaf figs!) There's a ton of all different kinds of seating, too, which makes it a pretty perfect space to work or have a meeting. The menu is as streamlined as the decor, without many elaborate drinks or food items, but the locally-roasted coffee is tasty, the other drinks are also made with high-quality local ingredients (I spotted a bag of primo botanica chocolate behind the counter) and according to an employee the food menu is set to expand a bit over time. All of this paired with longer hours than the nearby competition (open until 5:00 every day of the week) mean that this is probably going to be my new default choice for getting caffeinated and getting some work done.

What a joy to have another coffee shop option in the neighborhood, and one that is open a bit later! Alias roasts a great bean and does a delicious cup of cappuccino. I enjoy the small no nonsense menu and look forward to their expanding food options. The staff is so pleasant and the space is my kind of minimalistic modern. I am always so happy to see new places put their trust in Downtown and I can't wait to see Alias Coffee be a part of this neighborhood's growth. Now off to buy a bag of their beans!

Great coffee in a spare interior. Lots of space to hang out. Staff is friendly as well. Small menu but what they do, they do well.

The staff were professional, pleasant, and coffee/tea focused! My wife enjoyed a black tea chai latte and I loved the reserve pour over coffee experience! I order pour over pretty much every time it's available at a coffee shop. Jacob Alejandro's pour over service is pretty much ceremonial! They serve it on a tray. The tray has the "pitcher", a glass for service, and a glass of palate cleansing jade tea in the middle. (I did have to ask what the jade tea was) The palate cleanse was the perfect start. The Costa Rican coffee was heavenly, one of those drinking experiences where even my amateur palate was engaged. It was truly nice to sit for a while and enjoy a great cup of coffee at Jacob Alejandro! Yes, they would fit in a larger city but smaller cities deserve great coffee also!

Could they really be open on Easter Sunday? It seemed too good to be true. A great cup of caffeine was just what I needed at that very moment. So my friend and I crossed Madison Avenue and peeked into the tinted windows. Not only were they open, but the place was bustling. The inside of Jacob Alejandro is elegant and beautifully decorated. Furniture, plants, music and wall art are arranged to set moods. It feels more like a club than a coffee house. The baristas are super friendly, helpful and patient. As I tried to make up my mind on what to order, they offered suggestions. I wound up with matcha. I think my friend had some kind of latte. I remember both beverages were delicious. They were made to be savored slowly. We took in our surroundings and it was very relaxing. We'll visit again. Thanks Jacob Alejandro for a nice experience.

Among the more recent arrivals is Java Cafe on Madison Ave. It offers a nice variety of coffees, teas, other beverages and baked goods, all in a relaxing setting. What's more, they tell me that small dogs are welcome. I stopped in recently after taking a stroll in the park with my West Highland Terrier. I was surprised when they told me that my little dog could come in, too. I ordered the most wonderful hot chai latte with coconut milk and a dash of cinnamon. Since I was staying, it was served up in a stoneware cup with saucer. I also ordered a potato borek, which they explained was a small Turkish-style mashed potato pie. It was good. My friend ordered a delicious large house coffee with cream. The cafe is small but inviting with exposed brick walls. There's nice furniture and interesting wall art, including a banjo hung from one wall. But my favorite is the amoeba-shaped full length mirror with the words,"You look amazing," painted above it. How's that for giving customers encouragement? My little dog stood under our table and smiled. She was well behaved. There were several other customers but most of them looked lost- in -concentration over their laptops. It was a delicious and very calming experience for us after a nice walk in the park. Thanks, Java Cafe.

I took the meal upstairs where there's additional seating. I ate it while seated inside the picture window, which is a good place to the activity along Lark St. The eatery is as eclectic as ever. There are signs and artwork on the walls from different eras that don't go together. The place is old and perhaps a bit musty. Still this place had so much history with the area and its mismatched decor is a part of its charm. Change may be good.
