The inside reminds me of a Chili's or Ruby Tuesday, but a bit darker. I think it's a nice atmosphere, appropriate for date night, a group, a family, etc. Our server (who has worked here for 3 years) was friendly and efficient. To start, we ordered a bowl of yesterday's soup special (She crab) and a small order of boiled shrimp. The soup was excellent, creamy, and with small pieces of crab throughout. The shrimp (six in the small order) were prepared well and came with a tangy cocktail sauce. The server brought over a loaf of their complimentary bread, which is actually three breads together in a single loaf. The bread was good (I preferred the dark loaf part) and came with a peach butter. We were told that the butters change periodically. The butter had pieces of peach in it (!) and we enjoyed the novelty. Our server mentioned that they also have a pistachio butter and maple butter. Yum. I ordered a salad with the balsamic vinaigrette dressing on the side. The salad itself was good - fresh, with crisp lettuce, tomato, cucumber, apple, almond pieces, etc. Then there was the dressing. Although I mixed the salad dressing in the cup before tasting it, when I did taste it, it was almost all oil with no discernible vinegar or other flavor. I kept stirring and tasting and nothing. So I abandoned the dressing. For entrees, my partner ordered the charbroiled salmon in herb butter with a side of broccoli. The salmon was prepared well and very tasty. I ordered the mahi-mahi, with the sun-dried tomato butter sauce on the side. The mahi-mahi was well prepared and tasty on its own. Honestly, I tasted the sun-dried tomato butter sauce and it was essentially whipped butter. I didn't think it added anything to the entree so I didn't use it. The potato came with butter and sour cream on the side. The potato was very good. Although we were full and not planning on dessert, the server came over with small cups of peppermint ice cream, calling it a "palate cleanser." It was very good and a nice touch. Other than the salad dressing and the sauce for the fish, it was an excellent meal in a nice atmosphere with good service. When we were leaving at around 7:00 pm, the line was out the door.

This place started around 1952. The order was given from a touch tone phone at the table to the front counter. We thought tnat some of the younger customers would not know how to use a dial telephone. Drive through service is also available, as it has been since the 1950's. Ordered a burger basket (burger and fries) $8., a chicken tender basket (five chicken tenders with fries) $11.50, onion rings, chocolate malted milkshake, chocolate ice cream dish, We got the food in about fifteen minutes brought to our table. Very reasonable. The 2 oz burger that I received was worst of all the items that I had. It was tasteless and reminded me of a smalll burger at Burger King. 1.5 stars. do not recommend it. We hope that the recipe for the burger would be improved. The crinkle cut French fries were average 3 to 3.5 stars and not plentiful. Could have used more. The onion rings were one of the two great items that we had. They were very good in every way. 4 plus stars. My mallted milk shake was good and the price was reasonable. The restaurant is a good size with a bar and a private room on the side. It took quite a while for one of the two servers working to get to me. Best I can tell is that one of the servers was relatively new so there was lots of instruction going on in addition to serving a restaurant full of people. It was spaghetti night and Armstrong's spaghetti is, apparently, popular! I ordered a hot dog with chili, slaw and mustard. Server came back a few minutes later and said they were out of chili. And did I just want onions and mustard.... So, I corrected her to slaw and mustard and out the hot dog came. Just a hot dog on a plate. The menu said that the hot dog came with chips. I reminded my server of that. She took the plate back and returned with a hot dog and what looked like the crumbs from the bottom of a wavy Lays bag. I had asked for ranch to dip the chips in but very few of these were dippable. The hot dog wasn't great. The slaw here was SUPER sweet and without the chili flavor to balance it, it was overwhelmingly sweet. Overall, just not a great experience.
