I've come here so many different times of year, so many different times of day & I genuinely never see another soul, which is a beautiful thing especially when you consider that this is Florida. It's a really cool wild area that is well cared for. Tate's Hell offers so many on road and off-road capabilities not to mention hikes, campsites & bodies of water. It truly just has a little bit of something for everybody and is beautiful at all times of year no matter if it's day or night! The tree canopy over the road alone makes it worth visiting, especially under a full moon!

The space was secluded in the middle of Hells forest and we had about 2-3 RVs with us making it an exclusive campsite. We were disappointed not finding water hook up which pretty much was only available in the restrooms. It made it difficult for us to use water in the RV itself. There were numerous trucks exclusively for hunting and the area was dotted with many as we drove back. Price was pretty reasonable, under $20 for a day.

There's plenty of shade from the trees and benches all around. There has always been plenty of parking, too. HMP has a variety of slides in all heights so littles have the opportunity to start small with a caregiver's help and move to tall ones as they gain confidence and mastery. The very small slides are separate from the medium and high slides to lessen the chance of injuries and anxiety. There are interesting additions in area like climbing walls, car/plane on springs for make believe, and letter/number rollers. At the swing set, there's one swing for children who need more safety equipment and 3-4 with seats and chains. Our little guy needed help to get on any of them. There's a high tire swing that also requires adult assistance for small ones. The metal climbing dome was too advanced for our guy but he looked pretty proud of himself going in and out of the bars. There was a lot of sand or small gravel to kick around underneath. It did seem to catch the leaves and litter more than other areas. I liked the 4x4 border that allowed our guy to practice his balance and do "tricks" ( jumping off to the sidewalk)! We haven't used the small covered area: 2-3 picnic tables. It would be perfect for a birthday party or picnic. I don't know about reservations. The splash pad has never been open when we were there but it looks well maintained. There also appears to be a skate park across the parking lot that I'm sure my guy would love to observe. So, is HMP recommended by this Nana? A resounding "YES" and a great big "thank you" to the management and maintenance crews!

Today my daughter and I were dropped off on shell island by a fisherman that my husband was going…read morefishing with. Being from WV, we had no idea how the shuttles or ferry works. Come to find out, we needed to buy a ticket at the park in order to have a way off the island. A few hours later, I am starting to panic wondering if I'd be able to get my daughter off the island or not. I'd seen some people who rented boats and asked them for a ride back to the dock at their convenience, but nobody was willing to help us. Then I googled St. Andrew's ferry's and got ahold of a lovely lady named Kim, I explained our situation and she tried to get us on the next available ferry, unfortunately we were on the other side of the island. I had all but given up when Kim called me back to let me know her entire team had been working together to help get us safely off the island. When Captain Scott showed up on his boat, his reassuring smile was exactly what we needed after being stranded for 4 hours. He pulled up onto the bank and helped my daughter and I board his boat and he even let me vent about the anger I had for my husband and the fisherman who just left us there. To all the people with guest services at St. Andrew's state park, you all will never know how much it means to me that you all helped and went above and beyond. After Captain Scott dropped us off at our vehicle, the employees even came up to us to make sure we were okay and to see if we needed anything while we were waiting for my selfish husband to get back from fishing. If I could leave more than 5 stars I would. Kim, Kelsey, Chad and Captain Scott, as my grandmother would say, I would dance at your wedding if I could. God bless you all and thank you. If it wasn't for you guys we'd still be over there on the island. It's beautiful but I don't know when I'll be going back. If I do I will be sure to have a ticket and go through you guys. When I asked her if we could just drive around OR walk, she refused even when I said we had driven 40 miles just for that purpose. I will have to reserve BLINDLY for next year and be content with whatever site we get shaded or not. Looks like she had a bad night and hope that Karma comes around, it wasn't like we were going to sneak in and spend the night in the car when we were staying in Topsail which I am almost sure is better than this other one. I am sure that if I was a politician she would've extended the red carpet. So this review is not about the Park itself but about the Ranger at the gate and her attitude towards potential customers

I enjoyed this park when I visited Panama City, there were lots of new additions. The park had new…read morepublic restrooms put in, but I was not sure if they were ready for use yet because there were portable toilets as well. There is a playground near a pier where people launch & moor boats. I counted five brand new picnic pavilions with new BBQ pits and new picnic tables. Even the sidewalks were brand new. Park has a bike rack and is pet friendly. This park is right on the water and there was a small white sand beach that my dog and I walked on. There was two parking lots, one near the pier & playground, one on the other side of the park. The parking lot nearest the pier looked larger, had pickup trucks with boats, so I am assuming there was a boat launch nearby that I did not see. This park is located near the freeway and directly behind Gulf State College. My dog and I also walked around Gulf State College because it was the weekend and no classes in section. Sorry I did not take pics of the playground, pier, or boat launch to include, people were using those areas & I don't like to take photos of people without their consent.
