Not quite sure how I feel about this place. On one hand it is delightfully charming and, being pescatarian, I sure do appreciate their vegetarian options. The taste of our food choices ranged from ok to darn good. My disappointment is primarily in the serving sizes, the quantity and quality....True I'm a big eater. They offer a veggie burger and an impossible burger. I presumed that it would be a house made veggie patty, I don't think it was. The veggie sandwich was on a very tasty brioche bun but was lacking in amount of ingredients. Neither sandwich came with any sides. We ordered a cup of tomato soup and a side of Mac and cheese, both were pretty tasty though the Mac and cheese was not hot and/or creamy. The best thing on the menu was the house made blueberry pop tart, perfectly made and excellent ratio of crust to filling. Again, the flavors were mostly good. There is plenty of seating and street parking. I wish the sandwiches came with choice of sides (cup of soup, Mac & cheese, veggie, or bag of chips). read more

We were in Water Valley for a ballgame and decided to try this place. The food was fresh and it was very good. I thought the sides were a little strange for kids. But as an adult I would eat there again. The waitress was very sweet and super helpful. read more

There was only one other customer at the time. I had to get my own refills for my beverage, which I don't mind doing, but worth noting because of unconventionality. The food was delicious. Chicken was perfect. The MacNcheese was exactly like I like it. Cowboy beans are black beans that tasted refried. I'm not sure about them. But still a good meal. Came with a roll. Overall clean and tidy. Prices are out of sync with area prices. $15 for nothing but a frozen patty of beef with grilled onions and melted cheese was not worth the effort. The bun was fresh at least. No sides are served with your order must order separately. No fries available. They were out of stuffed mushrooms. Only a single type of store fried chips were available. If you don't like extra crispy kettle chips then not the type for you either. We paid for 2 burgers and 2 sweet teas. $35. If I had known would not have bothered to walk through the door. The single waitress was overwhelmed by the multiple tables present. Felt sorry for her and left her a nice tip for her efforts. Nice atmosphere and easy parking. read more

We stopped at the Trusty Diner in thru Water Valley around lunch. The menu includes many types of sandwiches, entrees and sides. We decided on the traditional ribs and roasted chicken plates. Each comes with two sides. We ordered whole green beans (not from a can) and came in a garlic sauce, roasted cabbage and the best macaroni and cheese I've had outside of my own kitchen. Fast, friendly service and everything was well prepared. The chicken and ribs were tender and tasty. Nothing seemed "Sysco" or canned. We will definitely be back. read more

We were driving through Water Valley and this little spot caught our eye. The food was wonderful! Southern gourmet with a twang. I had the veggie plate with Mac, green beans, cabbage, and sweet potato. My partner had the pulled pork sandwich with slaw. This is one of my favorite places to drop in for a bite. A sufficient but not overwhelming menu (which is a good thing.) Quality ingredients. Love this hip lil gem. Quality, well-prepared, delicious food. I had the ribs with the sweet potato/pecan butter and the greens-Mac and cheese. Magical! Perfectly seasoned, updated, Southern diner food. Delicious! I did takeaway on my second trip and chose the chicken salad and left with a load of jerky. The chicken salad was the best I've ever had! Not too salty, not too sweet...just perfect. Sadly, I never had a chance to try the jerky. My son hid it and made sure no one else had a chance to touch it. He did, however, tell us it was superb.
