I have to say that the management in this place is going to ruin the business. I've grown up eating at Windy City Grille, because I'm a Como Native and I've always recommended to my peers but not anymore! FIRST I have to say EVERY TIME I walk through those doors I feel UNWELCOMED! No greetings, no smiles, and no attention once we seated ourselves we ordered 3 things off the menu, when we got our pizza we were dissatisfied. 1. It was missing the extra toppings we ordered and overall quality was not appealing. 2. Instead remaking they just threw the toppings on and rebaked it. 3. We then requested a substitute or a refund. The manager declined then continued to make snarky remarks after i said I would dispute the order with my bank. This was purely unprofessional and neglectful of a long term customer. Now I will not be retuning with my money to Windy City Grille nor the Hernando location. My grandfather's blues marker sits right outside those business doors. My husband & I dined here and he was thoroughly pleased since he's a Chicago native. The menu items and decor pay homage to famous Chicago landmarks and residents. The TVs were playing Chicago baseball games, so that set the scene for nice ambiance. I ordered a deep dish sausage pizza and thought it was ok. The crust was kinda crumbly. My husband loved the Italian beef so much that he ordered one to-go. I tried it as well and thought it was odd that they melted the cheese to the bread rather than over the meat. However, I loved the Giardiniera peppers and sprinkled some on my pizza. The service was great as the server was very attentive. read more

We happened to be nearby at the Safari Wild Preserve so we decided to check out the Windy City Grille in Como. Got there after the College Football afternoon crowd left and before the evening dinner crowd rolled in, so I suspect the wait staff was just trying to catch their breath. Even so, we were seated immediately. My son got a bacon pizza and it was loaded with bacon. I mean like if he were my age, he'd go into cardiac arrest. He loves bacon pizza so this was a hit! I had the Al Capone Italian Beef which was palatable but not to die for. My wife had a burger and they forgot the grilled onions....on the plate but not on the bill. I didn't want to be one of those people who nitpicked so I let it go. Daughter had the spaghetti and meatballs off the kids' menu but there was only one meatball so a little misleading in the advertising dept. More importantly, the sauce was a tad bit watery. And it had some green parley? on top? Kids don't really like that stuff so it's probably best to either list it on the menu or just not do it. Overall, I would like to visit again and try some other items, especially if I can watch Chicago sports live. But in terms of satiating my Chicago cravings, the cuisine falls a little short. read more

I'm a 16 year resident of Chicago and this "Chicago Style" thin crust pizza was a big disappointment. The toppings were great but the crust was thick, cakey and undercooked. I informed the server but no attempt was made to satisfy my complaint. The Tomato Basil Pasta with added shrimp and scallops was delicious. The pizza used to be good but not anymore. An 18% gratuity was automatically added to our ticket. We're not coming back. read more

Not bad. We struggled finding somewhere to eat that wasn't fast food. We ended up here, a little leary about how it would go since we are from Chicago.... and well... you better do it right if you're gonna claim "Chicago". Granted, we did not try pizza.... so your mileage may vary. Our group had Italian Beef (which passed, maybe not THE BEST, but it still got a thumbs up), a burger, chicken sandwich, fish and a chicken salad sandwich. Really disappointed tonight! The Chicken and Mushroom pasta dish I usually order because it is so good was so bad tonight. I have had better microwaved frozen pasta dinners than what I had tonight. I want to like Windy City but our last two experiences were not good. In May our server was actually fired mid shift. Not sure why but she was badmouthing the place to us so we were not surprised. Our last time to try to eat there was met with a packed crowd. Not a problem except no one, and I mean no one, acknowledged our presence. Not even to say hello, we will be with you in a minute or even make eye contact. We wouldn't have minded waiting but left because no one bothered to be friendly or welcoming. read more

A hidden gem in Como, Mississippi. I've stopped by Como a number of times while traveling between Memphis, TN and Oxford, MS. I love this small, picturesque southern town near Sardis Lake, and am so happy to see the small, historic downtown area being slowly revitalized and cool businesses like Windy City Grille opening up. Windy City Grille fits right into this proud little community, and we recently decided to check it out by chance. And from now on will be my go-to when passing through. The fit and old feel of the place has been maintained with lots of exposed brick and a classic bar. The restaurant is clean with plenty of seating, and the waitstaff were all super friendly. The menu selection is good and the food we had was absolutely great....both the quality and the portions (You gotta try the catfish Po Boy). There's also a really good selection of both bottled and draft beer, and of course mixed drinks if you prefer. Prices were very reasonable across the board. I can see that the place will get busy for both lunch and dinner (probably a sign that they're doing something right), so be patient and plan accordingly. read more

The food was really good! I've eaten in restaurants all over the South, and I can say without a doubt that this is THE loudest restaurant any of us had ever been in. Every TV was incredibly loud. Our group was unable to even talk to each other. We had to yell our orders to the waitress to be able to be heard. If you don't smoke, you should take it up before going, because apparently everyone else smokes while they're eating. read more

The Windy City Grill has been open for 20 years and as I have a nearby business, I eat here on a regular basis. In 20 years I have never had a bad meal. They sometimes get slammed with a crowd and service may be a little slower, but they really hustle to serve everyone. They serve a plate lunch during the week and each day has a different meat. The salads are great, as are the pizzas and sandwiches. Love this place! read more

Loved it! We went there for the first time, after going to the Como Safari Park; The only thing we didn't like is... The appetizer came shortly before our food, so we were getting full. They could work on getting it out faster, to you way before the food. Also, their bathroom doors do not have knobs on the outside, could use better doors for that. This is easily one of the biggest surprises when it comes to restaurants. As a storm chaser, I go to a lot of places. I was on my way down to New Orleans from Illinois and saw the sign on the interstate for Windy City Grille. Since I am from Chicago, I have come to think that all places that claim to have some Chicago roots usually fail. When I arrived, I ordered a thin crust sausage pizza. While it wasn't like an authentic Chicago thin crust pizza, it was easily an amazing pizza. The sauce, crust and toppings were amazing. I ended up getting one to go and put it in my cooler for the next day's chase. The last place that I thought I would find a good pizza was in Mississippi. Half of my family is from Belmont, MS (while the other half are from Chicago), and I am used to the bad pizza in Mississippi. This was a very nice surprise. The only reason that I gave it four stars instead of five is because of the archaic laws in Mississippi that still allows smoking in public places. Since I went on a busy night, I had no choice but to eat at the bar. The smoke wasn't a good thing, but the atmosphere was very nice, even though it was loud. If you find yourself looking for a place to eat south of Memphis, I would highly recommend this place. I am surprised that I ran across some good food in Mississippi, but I did. Have not eaten at this location. The food at the Hernando location is not very good. We come here after diner at Como steakhouse a few doors down. The staff is good and we enjoy the table just outside the back door. The drinks are lower priced than in Memphis and it's a good place to get your swerve on. Perfectly good dive bar. read more

While visiting my uncle in Senatobia, he absolutely insisted upon eating at the Windy City Grille. I hadn't envisioned eating Chicago-style food while in Mississippi, but I relented. It was a very pleasant surprise! I ordered the smoked turkey hoagie, and my uncle had a calzone. Since I stole several bites of his calzone, I can vouch that both dishes were excellent. They even carried my favorite beer (Pilsner Urquell), but unfortunately, they were out of it. The service was also terrific. The Windy City Grille is in a quaint, renovated down-home southern store front. The food is very good but the service is slow and uncaring. The restaurant transforms into a smoky bar after the initial dinner crowd leaves; around 8pm. The drinks are pretty good especially the Cosmopolitans. read more

The best seafood pasta I have ever tasted. We have been twice & my wife got it both times. It is loaded with shrimps & scallops...not 2 or 3, loaded. The sauce is so awesome. I love the way the place is decorated. The 2nd time we went was on a Thursday night & it got packed. Little did we know that it was "trivia night". We had our 2 month old son with us so it was a little loud for that & got too smokey. Wonderful place & food if you don't bring really young kids at night. Will be back for sure. read more
