Friendly staff that has always got me in quick and helped me out in a pinch. They checked over my car on a moments notice and checked my oil and fluids to make sure it was safe to drive. My daughter was in a car accident on Saturday (the car was totaled). The police asked her if she had a preference for towing, which she did not. They called Rob's. He towed the car 2.6 miles and had to clean up two buckets of broken glass, and put some sand down for an oil leak on the site (for which he charged $80 cleanup fee). Okay, that may have taken 30 minutes tops, so fair enough. In addition, the towing fee was $360 for 2.6 miles! Yes, it was a Saturday, and it was an accident, but I have never paid anything close to that for previous accident-related tows. Google AI says standard rate for a weekend accident for that distance should be $35 to $150 (feel free to look it up). My wife and daughter were instructed by Rob that they would be open on Monday. I came in on Monday, the first available workday...as my wife was instructed to do the day of the accident, and he proceeded to charge us $100 ($50 per day) for two days storage Rather than being reasonable and removing the fee since they are closed on weekends (and we were there on the first available workday, he insisted that we should have known to call him on Sunday and have him come in to take care of the payment! He said we could have even called him in the middle of the night to come down and handle the paperwork since he is "on call." Who does that? So, he's going to charge extra for towing on Saturday (since it's a weekend), but doesn't mind being called in on a Sunday to handle paperwork? That doesn't make sense. Rob's only solution (rather than removing the storage fees) was to say he could have charged us a lot more. Since the car was totaled (and no use to us), we chose to scrap the car. The amount they were still charging us after the refund we received for scrapping the car was $100 (and it had to be paid to them in cash, which sounds like an IRS dodge). We received a hand-written receipt for the transaction. This was my first and will be my only experience with Rob's. read more

I started using Rob's tire and auto for recent tire changes on two cars. I had all four tires replaced on both. Not only did he give me the best price in town. Additionally, I also asked him for alignments on both vehicles. When I came to pay he said the alignment was right on and wasn't going to charge me for them. He could've easily taken my 55 bucks but he's an honest guy. When there was a little issue with my tires on my truck he made it right for me the very next day. My Pilot started vibrating on the highway today while driving. As, I'd just put my summer tires on my husband told me to get off, and tighten the lug-nuts. Unfortunately, the tools in my car didn't match the summer tires. Found Rob's on yelp, and headed over praying someone would be available to quickly assess the situation. The young lady in the front was friendly, efficient, and helpful. Found a tech to drive my car, and make sure it was safe to continue on. It was. I really appreciated how everyone seemed to work well as a team. They were very busy, but yet willing to help a mom with her two kids in the car. My uncle does most of my repairs, but I'm keeping this place in mind for friends in closer proximity... and as a backup! Very much appreciated. read more

Both good and honest mechanics are heard find but you will have no problems finding both here. We have been going to rob's for about 5 years since I moved here for the military. Robs has always bent over backwards to take care of us and our vehicles. They have always been fair, honest and reasonable with their diagnosis and servicing of our vehicles. They are obviously in business to make money but you don't feel like that when you are a customer there. I never have to worry about them trying to upsell anything or fix things that dont need to be fixed. You only have to look in their parking lot to see how much business they do to know that the community trusts them. I won't say that you'll always be able to get in there and get everything done in the same day because they are busy but I will say that the quality of work that they will do will be 2nd to none and if they miss something they will own it completely. I dropped off my car to get an oil change and look over for coolant smell. On the night drop information I left with them, I authorized 200 in repairs w/o consulting me first regarding the coolant smell. when I picked the car up, Rob was so nice! Told me that he couldn't find anything, and didn't even charge me diagnostic time. For someone who has previously worked in a auto service shop, this is unheard of. It does take them time to check everything over, and they should get some money to do so. BUT....the fact that this was my first time here, I was so pleased with his willingness to wave this fee (that I had already ok'd) to assure my business again. Everyone at check out was friendly and kind, and I've continued to take my car here afterwards. Recommend this shop WAY MORE than others in the area, who i have had to deal with before. LOVE Rob's and would highly recommend to anyone, whether in need of simply a new tire or full service. Coming home from Chicago we got a flat that was unsealable. We found Rob's online and had someone come to help us within minutes. All the guys (and one woman) were so helpful and speedy. We were in and out in less than 20 minutes and for an incredibly reasonable price. These guys run a highly efficient operation and clearly only hire the best employees. We've been going to Rob's for about 4 years now for everything. Rob is an honest guy that won't try to pull the wool over your eyes. He is always truthful about the maintenance that is needed or not needed. Everyone that I've come across is super friendly including Hayley in the front. Very easy to talk to and works with you to get your autos in the shop in a timely manner. I have recommended them to everyone that asks. I reject the entire concept of parting with my free time in order to write a 1 star yelp review, but today it's called for. The entry below is long, but worth your read if you want to avoid giving your money to what I truly believe is a scam. Full disclosure: I was pulled over for lack of insurance and the police officer citing me decided to impound my car. While this was a little strange and seemingly uncalled for, it's also 100% my fault and not Rob's. This is important to preface before I really go off on this dismal excuse for a business....but a good pass at a scam. Two days later, I've gotten my paperwork in order and I'm arranging a ride from Kalamazoo to get my vehicle. I have my girlfriend call to verify the final cost, only to be told that for impounds (and impounds only), credit cards would not be accepted. It's near the end of their business day, I'm at work with no cash, and it's starting to look to look like I will be down another $30 daily fee simply because they will not accept my money in it's current form. I'm bummed, but I don't make the rules, and I start figuring out alternatives. I call my sister-in-law (whose car we were borrowing), to notify her. As a small business owner in Mattawan, she struggled to believe that Rob's would not take cards, and called to verify that there wasn't a misunderstanding on our part. The woman who answered enthusiastically said "of course" when asked if the business accepted card payments, but when she learned that this was a matter of impounding, became very dismissive and unsympathetically blamed a "shop policy" she had no interest in explaining. My sister-in-law asks to speak to a manager, and after some pushback ("he's busy"), is transferred to Rob. This is where the business' lack of professionalism really takes main stage. My sister-in-law was making a complaint, albeit a very professional and mild mannered one. Instead of taking this as an opportunity to make a customer feel at ease with a policy she finds nonsensical, Rob becomes defensive, and eventually, aggressive. He shouts, and at one point says "it's not my fault I had to wake up at 1am to pick up his car!" (despite the fact that the car was towed at 11pm and not by him), and never once expresses the sympathy nor candor expected of a business owner when being critiqued. My sister-in-law informs Rob that she owns a business in the area, and will make a point of advising all of her customers and friends to never do business with Rob's due to this very unprofessional exchange, only angering Rob more before she ends the call. This conversation had happened two hours prior to me arriving at Rob's to pick up my vehicle. I had minimal knowledge of it, because it frankly had nothing to do with me. While my car might've have been the argument's catalyst, it was Rob who decided escalate to a conversation with a someone who lives in the community he serves (I do not), instead of patiently hearing her critique. That said, she drops us off at the door because she (understandably) assumes Rob will be confrontational. As I'm finishing up my transaction, Rob enters and asks my girlfriend if the woman who dropped us off was her sister. As if staring at a woman through her car isn't tacky enough, Rob decided to unload about how she "wasn't very nice" to him, and started to complain about her in the middle of his lobby before giving me my car that I had just paid him for. I consciously ignored most of his diatribe because it didn't involve me and it was in ridiculously poor taste, but in it I heard his reasoning for not accepting card payments for impounds. With phrasing I can only describe as condescending, he explained to me the concept of disputing credit card charges. Starting with "no offense, but I don't really know you..", he states his fear that I would charge my card, then "call (my) card company and get it reversed". That's called a charge dispute. I've worked over 3 years of retail management. You avoid it with asking for a signature. This is not how that works. All in all, I left with maybe the worst taste in my mouth that I have ever had for a business. Over my many years of customer service work, I've handled more customer complaints than I could hope to count. Even if you are confident that neither you nor your staff has done anything wrong, it is a manager/owner's RESPONSIBILITY to make sure that the customer feels heard and understood. I have been yelled at and called names by customers over prices I could not change, and still managed to maintain a better demeanor than Rob did during a very legitimate complaint. I have never written a scathing review before, especially not for small businesses as I try my best to support them. I even tip 15% when the service sucked. I want stress than I'm not aimlessly bitter about the crappy circumstances that led me to business with Rob's, but rather disgusted by the manner with which he conducts it. read more

My tire blew out on my way into Kalamazoo, and Rob's T&A happened to be the closest tire shop. They were awesome. I openly confessed to knowing next to nothing about tires and instead of typical "heh heh dumb girl" condescension that I usually get at auto shops, they were responsive and helpful. They first checked to see if the tire was fixable and then gave me a range of options with no pressure to choose the most expensive one. If I lived in the area, I'd make them my default autocare shop. read more
