I took my car in to have the tailpipe replaced. They said the muffler also needed to be replaced. With the new muffler and tailpipe it was twice as loud as it was before it brought it in and the new tailpipe also rubs against the suspension spring. I have used Randy's shop since I moved to South Haven 15+ years ago. I started using him because I now drive high-end imports and don't have a lift, they run close to the ground, and don't have room like the old muscle cars. Only charging $15 for my oil changes, when I bring in the supplies, is totally worth it! One time the seal on the filter I brought in was lop sided. They still fixed it with no charge, even when I purchased the filter through Auto Zone. There are numerous reviews attacking his attitude towards customers. I've only seen him as a pleasant person to interact with. Like everyone, people can have stressful days. Maybe these individuals came across rude or there was some communication issues during their discussions. Be sure to pet their mascot beagle which greets everyone. The manger was very rude. I have been taking my car to Muffler man but I will no longer give my business to a grumpy old man. I was immediately told no to get any service soon as I walked in. My brother got his car in and they kept it with no warning. He had to get it back two days later. All I needed was an oil change and he completely shut me down. I hope this review finds the owner of the Muffler Man in our small town of South Haven. If anyone can point me in his direction so it can, I would appreciate it. Thank you. But I figured I would bring it to your attention that Jason Cooper one of your mechanics likes to scam people for more money when doing jobs, or will bring his friends in and do stuff for free or dirt cheap. This employee also was double cashing the checks you wrote him to his mobile banking off his phone then taking it to a store in Bangor, MI and then cashing it personally as well but claimed it was his then girlfriend at the time that was actually doing it. When that was not the case at all and that's how he 'took the wrap' for her and got in trouble within the law for it, had to pay the money back and was on probation for it as well. I figured as an owner of a small business in southwest Michigan you would like to be aware of your employees scamming customers of money, doing things cheap or for free for friends and also double cashing his checks as well. I am sure you would not like said employee doing these things and as a business owner myself, I know I would like to be aware of these things. Jason Cooper is a very shady man and seems to be very very nice and willing to do anything but will steal/cheat/lie just about anything. Went in and told Randy that I needed a new battery and gave him my car key. The car was driven into the back stall. I waited about 45 minutes and walked downtown returning in 35 minutes. I sat down again about 15 minutes when young man from the back walked in and I said "so how is it going?" Randy SCREAMED "DO NOT SPEAK TO MY EMPLOYEES" I got up and left again being shook up. I returned 45 minutes later and told Randy to bring my car back to me as I was going someplace else. He said that it would take me 3 weeks to get a battery. The car was drived to the front garage and Randy said I would need to pay for my key, I said that I was going to call the police and he said it eould cost me $100.00 if I called them. I sat in my car outside while on the phone and he came up to my car through open my door yelling "GET OUT OF THE CAR YOU FU**ING BITCH" the police arrived . I was extremely upset and gave 25.00 for my key. The next morning I had a new battery installed at Romes in 25 minutes! I have been a previous customer to Muffler Man but NEVER AGAIN. I left in tears because the owner Randy was so rude to me infront of my daughter and another man seated behind me. My car began to make a strange noise so I pulled in to maybe have it looked at. A kid (nice worker) was crossing the parking lot and I asked if I could ask a quick question. He politely assisted and referred me inside to Randy. A lady was at the counter and he said "Can I help you" when he was done with her. I said "ok I wasn't sure if I was next", trying to be courteous to the other man waiting. He proceeds to say "well you held my mechanic up out there for 15 minutes". I was floored, but stated "I just asked a quick question". He then asks again rudely how can he help, and I'm shaken up but I state "my car started making a noise and he said maybe you guys could put it up and take a look but I don't wanna take up too much of your time", to which he throws down his papers in hand and says "don't you hassle me".... Seriously! I was shaking and left crying. Never again..... they always have help wanted signs and it's no wonder. The kid was so nice and he probably treats them the same way. I've never been so disrespected/spoken to that way by a grown man. He is horrible. He even told me I shouldn't ask them questions out there because they don't know anything. Highest praise for Randy and his team. While on a short vacation, the rear brakes on our car seized up. To make matters worse, we were driving a vintage Jaguar! They were extremely busy but made time to look at the car. We weren't expecting to hear anything for a few hours, but received a call just over an hour later. Went in to get a O2 Sensor installed, came back to get my car and my Check Engine Light was off. Left the shop and literally drove around the corner and the check engine light came right back on. Took it back to Muffler Man and was told that the Part that I came with wasn't good enough because I purchased my O2 Sensor from autozone. Randy was also rude to me and other customers because he didn't want to stay open after 5 because he wants to go home. Its literally the same attitude that others have left in there reviews. I was traveling alone on business when my car started making a very loud rattling noise. I took it to Muffler Man, pretty sure my heat shield was loose - but having no idea how long it would take to fix something like that, or how much it would cost, or if, honestly, that was really the problem. The gentleman at the counter listened to my problem and called the gentleman from the garage area who took my car into the back immediately. Sure enough, it was the heat shield and they repaired it, right then and there, For Free! My business trip was saved! NEGATIVE 10 STAR review. Negative reviews seem honest when compared to my experience. Got a quote - a quote ( he was rude in 2phone interactions and in person). Bill was $210 OVER the quote. He made sure to mention he was the only repair shop open on Saturdays. I was in a pickle so F my luck. From my drop off time to when he let me know it was done was barely an hour - he charged $175 in labor for a simple, standard easy fix. Do not go to this reprehensible business! We took our car in for a simple tire rotation because of a damaged front rim. One hour latter when we returned and in preparing to leave, we noticed the damaged front wheel was in the same spot. After requesting that the work (already paid for) be done correctly, we were verbally abused by both the technician and the manager. The owner randy, I believe, threatened to slash my tires due to me parking in front of his business to pick up some thing next door. I was parked for a total of 5 minutes and he came out screaming and my car had a sign on it saying no parking. There was no sign on the building or parking space that indicated no parking. He started screaming and attempted to assault the passenger in my car but we luckily locked the doors and left. After quoting me a price for an oil change, the final bill comes and it is over double the quote. Remember kids, this is an oil change and not major car repair. I stopped in to get an oil change at 3:30 on 7-5-14 and right off the bat I knew I should of turned around and walked out when the guy at the counter named Randy just mumbled and I had to ask him what he said three times before I could understand him. They close at 5 so he said to be back at 4:30 for whatever reason but whatever so me and my wife go for a walk and come back at 4:27 and I try to pay with my credit card and he refused to take it because he had already shut off his computer and said I had to go to an atm and get him cash. so after a screaming match between him and I He makes me leave the store. so my wife is trying to get him to take the card and after he sore at my wife he finally ran the card after not turning anything back on.
