    Pub front

Located off the beaten path down a small lane. Great location in Dublin 2. The small looking front hides a larger interior, including pool tables. Enjoyable pint. Had Tiger prawns with chips. Tasty. Good service, good crowd, not too loud, nice atmosphere - good place

Fingerfood available too. Just ask for it

A paradise for smokers with overpriced pints of beer. The best the steak, the rest is just average. If you are smoker or if you like snooker the place is good for you. There are two big spaces were smokers can drink and practise their habit in some kind of covered outdoor. The pub has two billiard tables and use a parking space in the rear to put tables when the weather is good. If you are not smoker and don't play billiard, you have the option to pay more than 5 Eur for a pint and enjoy the steak and the fireplace. If you are a veggie and a non smoker I wouldn't recommend you this place. I have to say that maybe I just had a bad experience because the staff at the bar was really slow and unprofessional or just because I don't smoke or just because I don't call places with dust hipster.

    Cheeseboard

Herself and I had a voucher for a cheeseboard and bottle of wine at McGrattans which we duly used today. First impressions were very good. Really liked the look of the place, two pool tables and all!! Offered red or white and so plummed for the pinot grigio which was just the ticket. Unfortunately, the cheeseboard was a bit of a letdown for both of us. A combination of blandness and a slight feeling of maybe the cheese not having the best spend plus the lack of a relish left us both unsatisfied. I'd come back again, for a pint sand not the food though!!

Lovely pub down a laneway off Baggot Street and a lot bigger than you would think. Mix of a crowd but mostly business men for lunch. Had the cheese platter which was huge and definitely not a one or even 2 person dish. Heaven for cheese junkies like myself. Bonus of the day...seeing your wan off the telly Anne Doyle floating around. My mam will be very jealous.

A nice place hidden away from the bustle on Baggot Street. The music is at a comfortable level and a match is on the telie.

The environment is comfortable an very clean. The bar area is very nice with an assorted collection of locals and maybe not so locals. If you are looking to have a nice relaxing dinner at a pub without the hollering 20 somethings this may be your place. I had an awesome steak dinner cooked to perfection and a pint of Bulmers. The barkeep was attentive enough to acknowledge me walking through the door and get me set up at a table. My food order was taken in a timely manner and delivered promptly. Overall a pleasant dinner. There is a selection of pool tables in the adjoining room if billiards are your thing and the groups I witnessed using the tables seemed friendly enough. The music was at a comfortable level to hold a conversation at normal speaking volumes. Just a really nice place to hang out and have a few pints.

Nice little fireplace creates a cozy atmosphere!

Good spot for a drink after work! I'd definitely come back. I love the fireplace, pool tables, and 'saloon' decor and atmosphere. Comfortable seating areas can accommodate small or large groups. I can't speak to the food, but it smells and looks great. Looking forward to trying it soon!

10 oz. Angus steak with onion rings

Really friendly pub with a real good steak and ditto fish and chips for a democratic price. The steak I ordered rare came out well done but, after inquiry, was replaced with a properly cooked model.

    Guinness stew. Amazing!

Just hit town for 3 days after visiting the countryside and for our first stop this was spectacular. The Guinness stew baked with puff pastry is so good I'd kill and cannibalize a trailer park to get this back home.

We actually stopped in the nearby Toner's Pub to get a late afternoon bite and was told the kitchen was closed but to go here instead as they would "look after us". Wow what a cool place. The whole vibe had this "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels" sort of vibe to it with the music and young lads shooting pool while we were there. The bartender was a real character and the food was super authentic, homemade and very good. We had the Irish lamb stew and the sausages and mash. No idea how anyone finds this place unless they know where they are going. Very much off the beaten tourist path although it's right in the middle of it all. Worth going to for sure.

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

A group of us wandered down the dark alley one Sunday afternoon, a little anxious about what we might discover... The place was empty before we arrived, but luckily we'd brought a large enough group to make the entire place our own. The candelabras, mood lighting and high, domed ceilings make this place enchantingly atmospheric, but let's not forget the practicalities. I should have known it would be a disaster when the female bartender had to as the waitress how to make it needless to say it was not very good. The Wind Jammer is not, however, one of the really fun early houses. For fun early houses that serve already somewhat inebriated people, try The Chancery. The Wind Jammer is the type of early house that caters to shift workers and Gardaí from Pearse St coming off the night shift. Apart from a few couples the morning after the Trinity Ball, they wouldn't let in too many post-club revellers. The door is closed most early mornings, and they have a CCTV camera to give ya a good hard scrutinising before they'll let you in. The only time I was there for early pints, there was only one other group of young lads there and the barman looked like he was about to stop serving them. During the rest of the day and night, the Wind Jammer is a quiet pub frequented mainly by old, grumpy locals, who would sooner bite your head off than ask you the time of day. If you're really desperate for a drink and can't make it til half ten when the rest of the pubs open, by all means go to The Wind Jammer. Otherwise, there isn't that much else to recommend to it. Oh, one other thing. The Wind Jammer is the closest pub to Windmll Lane Studios, so U2 and The Saw Doctors among others have retired there for post-recording session pints over the years. Not the type of thing that would interest me, but sure it might interest you so I thought that I'd tack it on the end there
