Our recent Lunch at Lincoln's Inn was one of the best pub meals Gayle and I enjoyed during our 2-week vacation in Dublin. It's right across the street from the National Gallery, which we decided to visit after Lunch. We snagged a nice table by the window (in the very comfortable bar side) with both table service (including order delivery from the Kitchen) to be fast and friendly. My only regret eating at Lincoln's Inn was that I wasn't hungrier! I ended up having a pureed vegetable soup that came with a side of Guinness bread, and both were excellent! A huge win was asking our server for recommendation of a light lager and she introduced me to Rockshore, which became my go-to for the next two weeks. I was there with a group and everyone really enjoyed what they ordered. Good, solid, Irish comfort food. Save room for dessert -- folks ordered a range of things, but a friend and I shared the chocolate cake. It looked far richer than it was, which was a good thing -- it was light, but super flavorful. The location is great -- nearby museums, the park, shops, etc. Recommend it for a great lunch spot. read more

This has to be one of the best places to start a trip to Ireland. The food was delicious and the ambience was nice. It was very crowded so the service took a bit of a time. Make sure that you get to water so that you're not waiting for another one. Better yet get yourself a beer. read more

Waited here today for lunch, website says opens at noon, went in at 12.05 and was rudely yelled at that we aren't open yet - no mention of when they will open. Waited outside until 12.15 - most good pubs would come get you but I guess they cant be bothered. Midway through a tour of the UK and Ireland, we popped into this space on a whim - and we were rewarded! The Guinness is creamy, the steak pie melted in our mouths, the fish and chips divine. Even the pickiest eater in our group was thrilled with the chicken strips - "the best I've ever had." Plus the staff is super friendly and accommodating. We've been to a lot of places in the past week from London to Glasgow to Edinburgh to Bradford to Belfast - and this little pub has them all beat. Do yourself a favor and come in!! read more

Jess made our last night in Dublin so special. She was engaging and friendly,just like most people in Ireland. The ambience was pure Irish pub. People on the sidewalk drinking their pints and smoking while chatting away. Inside there was a mix of locals and tourists. Although on Thursday evening we were the lonely ones. We started with the smoked salmon appetizer. It did not disappoint. A very generous portion for 12€. Good soda bread with it. Next we had the fish and chips as well as the Irish stew. Both were really good. My vote was for the fish however. It was very light and crunchy extremely fresh. Good chips. My wife enjoyed the stew. Loaded with fresh cut veg and potatoes. Loads of good Irish lamb. We finished it off with a sticky toffee pudding. Yummy. We stuck around for the music at about 9ish. Two guys and a lady. One playing the guitar one on the squeeze box and she was playing the recorder. They were just sitting around the table playing. So much fun. Overall a really entertaining night read more

Starting with my call to make reservations and then my call later to change the reservations, we had a great all-around experience here. Super friendly staff and accommodating. We arrived right before our reservations at 7 to find our table with a little sign on it that said "Please feel free to sit here but there is a reservation at 7 so vacate it by then". I can't help to think that if a restaurant tried that in the US, we'd have ended up arguing with someone who was already sitting there. When we arrived, the table was empty and ready for us! The food was delicious. I had the Guinness beef stew with puff pastry on top that was fantastic. Mom had the Irish stew with lamb that was creamy and much better than the one she had earlier in the week. Dad went with Italian and had the carbonara - his plate was empty! Not a first stop but perfect for a post-museum wander, Lincoln's Inn is a pub that's pretty enough for lunch (by the big windows please) or drinks after work with all the charm of your favourite cafe. Of course, once service gets busy it's almost impossible to get to the bar at the end of two very narrow rooms... which is why I'd prefer to stay calm with the lunch crowd, or even calmer in the post-lunch emptiness gives me time to sit down, sip my coffee and organise my Yelps. read more

I went back for food. Why oh why did I do it?? Was meeting an old boss for lunch, he suggested here. I inwardly cringed, but agreed. I ordered a burger, without a bun. It came with a handful of chips. I then requested ketchup. The ketchup bottle was manky around the edges of the lid. You know, the deep dark dried on sauce that hasn't been wiped off from 4 months ago... I shouldn't have used it, but the chips were so gosh dang tasteless I needed something. The ketchup didn't have much more flavour.. after a few dips into it, I ceased its usage. The burger.. well, it was tiny, and came sitting on 1 leaf of lettuce which was almost transparent? Along with 1 very thin tomato slice. It was very very very well cooked, AKA bone dry, Sawdust comes to mind.. so I ended up using more of the ketchup to help it slide down my throat. Nows where it gets interesting: I left the establishment at 2:10 pm to walk home. Ten minutes into my journey, I thought "oh I better pick up the pace". Five mins later I thought "oh dear god let the lights be green to cross that intersection". Within sight of my home I was approaching a full fledged panic attack, I didn't think I was going to make it. I preservered and beat all previous records at getting in my front door and legging to the loo. My digestive system is a mess. I was up till 3 am, with tummy cramps and frequent trips to the loo. As I write this, i sit here feeling like I've eaten nails. My only other food before that lunch was a piece of cheese and a cup of coffee for breakfast, so it had to have been the food I ate there. Surely it wasn't the burger as it was so overcooked nothing could have survived that.. maybe someone in the kitchen didn't wash properly or something. I dunno, but I will be writing them a letter to drop in the post to tell them of my experience. I don't know how often I already walked past this pub on my way to Pearse Station. Somehow I never considered going there. But that changed when I eventually did go there with a friend as we were looking for something close to that entrance of Trinity College. It is a lovely old-fashioned (interieur) pub with a little outside sitting. What we loved was that you don't realise the size of it as it is basically two parts and one even with several snugs (kind of). So you can relax and chat and understand each other. There is background music but not too loud. The staff is friendly so that helps too enjoying your time there. Also: They do Craft beer and mainstream beer so something for everyone. They have a decent enough menu including salads (I tried the Superfood one and it was lovely and sufficient) and lots of different sandwiches. I saw them and they are decent sized. When I was there on a Thursday I got the impression there were quite an amount of students but that was rather nice to see as they as well were rather there to chat than to get drunk. So definitely a pub that is now on my map. read more

This is one of those places that is easily over looked, it often is the flaw of residing on a city street with a lot of foot traffic. Inside is a piece of calm, large, spacious with ornate light fixtures. The tables are rough and rustic. It is a pub but during the day it has more of a continental coffee house feel to it. They have a coffee special of any type of coffee for 2 euro. The coffee is large and you get a posh biscuit with it, it's those little touches that make all the difference. The over rated chains could learn a thing or two from these folks. It's oddly an oasis of calm inside, you have a great view of the city hustle too and it's so satisfying to be removed from the madness momentarily. There lunch menu consists of soup and sandwiches. A toastie will set you back 4 euro as will a soup. A coffee and sambo is 4.50 euro. Service is chilled and warm, the best contradiction you could ask for. read more

I've been here twice, both times with vouchers that I bought off Groupon, a two-course meal for two with a glass of wine or a beer each. Both times that I have been here it has been very quiet with very few punters. The pub itself is lovely with high ceilings and large windows that have a great view of the city. I have bought many vouchers from various websites for other restaurants and have been quite disappointed with the limited selection on food on arrival and the small portions that are served. This pub was the complete opposite. the starters are as big and as filling as the mains. I would highly recommend their Irish stew which is served with brown bread. Personally, I thought it should have been listed as a coddle rather than a stew as it wasn't as thick as a stew, but all the same it was absolutely beautiful....you won't be disappointed! The only downfall is that the bar is situated in a weird spot at the end of the pub. Because the place is so quiet it feels a little uninviting when you initially open the door as there is no staff to greet you because they are so far away. Aside from this I would highly recommend this pub for food or even just a quiet drink during the day. read more

Lincoln's Inn is a good place for one of those nights that starts after work but goes on quite late. It's well designed with lots of seating which is great for that after work drink. As the evening goes on it fills up, but actually there's plenty of standing room as well, and it's actually a place which I don't remember ever having to shove my way through to get to the toilets or the bar. It's got a nice busy atmosphere without being too rowdy or noisy. My experience with the staff was also very positive. A group of us were there for a particular celebration, and the celebrant was gifted with a bottle of champagne from one of the group. After lots of whispering and muttering about the idea of opening it outside under a coat and using whatever glasses we had, we eventually asked the barman if we could open it and what corkage they would charge. He smiled and let us open it without charge and handed over the requisite champagne glasses, which I thought was very good form. Needless to say we continued to buy many more drinks from the bar as the night wore on! read more

I really can't stand this pub. It has the atmosphere of a café and I can never seem to get a seat. As I can never get a seat, I always end up next to the service lift. We're a giddy group, my friends and I, and messing with the service elevator never fails to get us in trouble with the management. It can't be helped, it's just such a novelty. I've been here a half dozen times, four or five of which has resulted in us leaving after being on the receiving end of "a good hard stare". The worst part is that it was so thoroughly deserved every time. read more

While the soup and sandwiches are generally really tasty, a friend and I had to wait for over 30 mins before our order was taken last week. Considering I only have an hour lunch break, 30 mins is a considerable chunk. In this half hour, I'd also had to go and get menus myself and then ask the barman if I could order before someone came to our table. The poor waitress seemed run off her feet. It seems like they should definitely consider having some more staff working during the day or scrap table service and ask customers to order at the bar. However, I do love the 2 cocktails for a tenner on Friday evenings! Also, myself and my work colleagues were given free finger food and sandwiches when we had prebooked a table for over 10 people for the night. i'm not sure if this is often available but definitely worth asking if you have a party of over 10 people going for drinks. They have a nice selection of beers, mix of craft and macro stuff which is good. At 5pm on a Monday it was very quiet and we got seats outside on the street which was lovely! It's a very traffic-heavy area at those times of day so if you're more interested in people watching instead of car-watching, you might want to go elsewhere. Unfortunately the bar men are exceptionally rude and stroppy. Came here for a drink a week ago with some friends I hadn't seen for a while,made inquiries at bar about getting a pitcher to which I was rudely told by a surly git barman that they 'don't do them anymore in quite the rudest manner. I could live with that, but then while waiting for my pint to be poured, the other bar man managed to spill a half bottle of coke all down my front-I had just come from work and was wearing quite good dry clean only pants, so to say I was unimpressed is an understatement. the surly git barman nor the other ejjit made any effort to help, instead joked about it openly. They didn't even have the common courtesy to offer a towel, which I had to ask for! So if you want to go to a soso pub with div bar staff this is your place. They say the best things are not the easiest to find and...well the Lincoln's Inn is definteily one of them. Tasty food and nice bar staff, but I must admit, I only go there to attend the live music session that goes on every SUNDAYS (from 6 to 10pm). It's a joyful group of four talented musicians and singers that brings the Irish traditional music and songs to all the lovely audience drinking their pints around. And if you're a musician yourself, why not ask them to play a tune? They will pass on the guitar, banjo, mandolin, violin or accordion with great pleasure, and chat with you with no pressure. You'll get yourself new friends for the night, or even longer if you come back there to see them again. This is a decent spot for lunch. They do a soup and sambo deal for €7.50 which is really filling. You get a full sandwich or panini with a bowl of soup. The smoked chicken with brie and rocket is delicious. The soups can be hit and miss. When they first reopened I had a delicious onion soup and a thai carrot soup with crunchy fried onions on top but lately they are lacking in flavour and not especially good. I find the service quick and staff pleasant. It can get very cold when the doors are left open but otherwise it feels quite nice and cosy. I love the decor- lots of dark wood and some comfy armchairs. I also like how they seem to go all out decorating for various holidays. For Halloween last year the place was like an old haunted house. It's fun. I've never actually come here for drinks or in the evening so can't really comment on what it is like for that. read more

I am a writer who spends a lot of time and money in Dublin in bars and cafes, especially evenings and Saturdays. Tonight we had a very bad experience of being overcharged in Lincoln's Inn, Lincoln Place, where we often eat and drink on Saturday afternoons. Today we were overcharged by €15 for 3 glasses of wine. When I complained to the barman manager who said his name is Darren, he was really horrible. I have never been so humiliated. I rarely complain but if I do I expect to be treated seriously. This man was aggressive, with horrible attitude, and a most horrible facial expression I've eve seen. He argued with me and was very defensive. We will never go to Lincoln's Inn again. It is a very horrible pub, worst I've ever come across in Dublin. We will not go there again. read more

It's an oldy but a goody ! I've been coming to the Lincoln for about 18 years. Although it's been massively renovated since my first visit it still has that old pub charm. They did a fantastic job of renovating it a few years ago and it's like a mix between a traditional old man pub and a Parisian bar with lots of panelled wood and leather booths read more
