Stopped here for a drink while out an about. Got the Irish coffee and it was really great. You can sit outside which is cool too. The service was great and the Christmas decorations were amazing. Cute spot for drink!

The ambiance was good, but the food was average. I had the fish and chips. The taste was average. I would recommend getting an Irish Coffee and the sweet potato fries, which were delicious

To my namesake: I love you! I think this place healed something in my soul. - Extensive beer list. - Sprawling, maze-like interior. Dimly lit, well decorated, & totally homey. - Delicious & gluten-free shepherd's pie. - Live music every day of the week. We struck gold when we visited O'Neill's, because we visited at the same time that Seán Burch was playing. What a stellar musician with more range than the Himalayas. We were blessed with everything from System of a Down to Bee Gees to Paolo Nutini. Seán's rendition of "Candy" by Paolo actually brought me to tears. I hope he goes far, because he deserves it. (@sean_burch20) Tip your local musicians!

The pub has great character and it's always full of fun people! I met my boyfriend here! We haven't tried the food yet, but it's definitely a great place to grab a pint!

Decent food and service. The Irish Stew I ate was plentiful for a lunch and was the right place. Pretty much just an old fashioned pub spot in Dublin with friendly and quick service. No frills for lunch, and did not disappoint me one bit. Not much else to say, I recommend it for what it is.

All it takes is a guitar, a flute and a whole pub of people singing and stomping their feet to really cement the magic of Ireland. Me and my friends came here on a whim Monday night. We had just got out of a cab in the Temple Bar area when a crazy guy started hurling stuff in the street and everyone in the area just starts running away. Not a good first impression when your a foreigner and it's your first night on the town. But me and my friends took a breather, a walk and somehow stumbled upon O'Neills. We grabbed some menu's and headed upstairs. It was then that we came across a crowd full of fun people stomping their feet and singing to some unknown song I've never heard of. I loved it. I really loved just the positivity in the air. It really took a slightly traumatic experience and turned it upside down for me and my friends. It was here that I tried Island's Edge for the first time. If you love Guinness, you should definitely try this one. It doesn't has as much bite as Guinness but it's got an extra smooth finish. As for food, I got the Roast Beef sammy and man was it good. The gravy definitely had a certain richness to it where it almost seemed more like an au jus then anything. I like that the bun held up real well with all the meat that was inside which I might add was perfectly tender. All in all, everything this night was perfect. I really felt that I was amongst the locals which is always a fun feeling. I always want to feel immersed with the locals when I travel somewhere. Part of me earlier that day still couldn't believe that I was in Ireland but this dinner definitely made the trip feel official. Dublin at first gave me some San Francisco vibes; in a good and a bad way. I think the key was just to walk into a pub and I'm really glad this night, it was O'Neills.

Must try pub when in Dublin IR located in the South Center area. It was packed, lively, and with good vibes. Beers and pubs goes together. We also tried their lamb stew and warm beef roast sandwich with much room. Overall, we had good time .

Kilkenny on tap! That alone accounts for the two stars. They can keep everything else. The cab driver that brought us from the airport to our hotel recommended O'Neills, telling us that we'd get good food at great prices. Well. He was right about the prices - this was one of the more reasonably-priced restaurants we stopped at. But the food just was not good. I ordered a salad. How does one screw up a salad, anyway? Wilted greens, moldy veggies? This one didn't have any of that, thank goodness, but it also didn't have flavor, or cohesiveness. It was like they took all the leftover items they had in the fridge and plopped it on a plate. Wait, let me go back. I got the only entree salad they had on the menu. It was supposed to be mixed leaves and rocket with goats cheese, pickled beetroot and pomegranate, served with a honey vinaigrette. The salad that was put in front of me had raw walnuts, cucumbers, sun-dried tomatoes, pomegranate seeds and some kind of green dressing. I don't know what kind of honey would make green dressing. Looking back at the menu, I do see that they called out the #4 for allergens, but there was no mention of nuts in the salad. I don't have a nut allergy, mind, it's just a bit confusing when the salad you thought you ordered came out as something completely different. I don't typically like fruit in my green salads, but figured the pomegranate seeds would be unobtrusive. I was wrong. And with everything else that *wasn't* supposed to be on that plate...I just couldn't do it. And my body *needed* greens and vegetables at that point, people. I just could not force myself to eat that jumble of items. My husband, meanwhile, had ordered the Hot Beef Sandwich, which claimed to be served on soda bread, with a side salad. Nothing else in the description. What he got was an open-faced mess of beef slices on a piece of bread, smothered in mushrooms and the largest pieces of practically raw onions I've ever seen. It did indeed come with a side salad, very loosely speaking, which looked suspiciously like what came off of my plate, complete with the odd green dressing. He tried to eat as much as he could, even after acknowledging it looked nothing like what he'd expected. But even he barely made it through the meal. He said that everything lacked flavor, and he got tired of playing "let's remove this gigantic piece of onion from the sandwich". Oh, I forgot. I should have mentioned from the start that the chances of me eating the salad that was given to me were very low from the moment the plate hit the table. Why, you ask? As the waitress was walking our plates to our table, one of the leaves of lettuce detached itself from the bowl and latched on to the palm of her hand. Of her ungloved hand. She then set that bowl down on the table in front of me, wriggling her palm to try to release the lettuce piece. It came unglued from her hand, landed on the table...and she promptly snatched it up - with her ungloved hand! - and plopped it back into my bowl. *AFTER* it sat on the table! Anyway - the space is large and it was very busy when we arrived. We were lucky to find a small rickety table on the second floor, close to the bar. Warmth and Kilkenny on tap. I'm feeling generous with the two stars, but it was the only Kilkenny I had while in Dublin, so I'm going to let that pass.

This was my second time here and this time I brought my siblings. All the food we ordered was tasty and fresh! This is one of the best value for quantity and quality I've come across. There was plenty of seating, live music, and friendly service! It was convenient to find a nice spot to sit, then order and pay at the bar.

Shepherd's Pie & Traditional Irish Stew

O'Neills was a fantastic experience! We stopped in for dinner - I went to order a Harp, and the bartender insisted I try something different (Ri Ra) which was DELICIOUS! Shepherd's pie and Traditional Irish Stew were a hit. Best part of the night was after dinner, sitting in the beer garden with pints and Seán Burch! We stayed hours more than expected to drink, listen, and sing along. Unforgettable experience and a lovely last night in Dublin.

Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.

Apart from a few couples the morning after the Trinity Ball, they wouldn't let in too many post-club revellers.
