Bad Botox!

This is hard for me to post since I have no filter or make up on. But I feel the need to share so my friends don't make the same mistake I did. I went to Mcguiness dermatology in prosper and Patricia was my injector for TMJ dysport. As you can see my smile is completely crooked now because she put the Botox way too low. So now I have to wait for the Botox to wear off, so fun that I can't even smile normal. Don't just go to anyone for Botox even if it's a "nice" place. Will I use the PA there to freeze off warts for my daughter sure! But the cosmetic side of this office is a joke.

Was referred here by Centennial Baylor Scott & White ER (on Coit and Lebanon) after being diagnosed…read moreon March 7th, 2025 with Erythema Ab Igne. I started developing painful pus-filled blisters in the days leading up to my ER visit and ultimately went with the intention of having them drained. I was sent home with bacitracin ointment which I was to apply to the affected areas twice daily. I visited the ER again four days later on March 11th with two new blisters - at which point I was given antibiotics - one 500mg tablet of cephalexin twice daily. That - in conjunction with an antibiotic injection - helped tremendously. Over the next two weeks, I took extreme care and ensured that only mild soap and water was touching my open wounds. Since then, my blisters have healed nicely, but I still felt I needed to follow-up with a dermatologist. This is where Legacy Dermatology, and Sarah Batti in particular, comes in. I absolutely loved her and her approach to patient care. Her knowledge and compassion for the field was clear. She truly engaged and interacted with me, made me feel comfortable, and set my mind, heart, and anxiety at ease. It was my first appointment with a dermatologist, so I did not know what to expect. Being that the offending source was a space heater over a period of about a year and a half, I was petrified and absolutely convinced that I had skin cancer. Thankfully, the discoloration on my posterior left thigh has started to fade. It seriously looked like toasted skin which is essentially what Erythema Ab Igne means in Latin. No more space heaters for me - or any form of artificial heat for that matter. Sarah outlined a future care plan and took pictures at yesterday's visit so she can compare it to my visit (which is scheduled for 3 months out) on June 26th, 2025. In the meantime, she suggested nightly applications of Aquaphor and sunscreen when out in the sun. It will be interesting to see how much further it fades, if it does ever go away completely.

I can't think of another doctor that has made an initial call to me to share test results and that meant so much. I love that everyone in the office is so professional and caring.

I went to see Dr Barrows and saw Christy, his PA who was wonderful. She seemed to really care for her patients and took time to really check and biopsy questionable places. Dr Barrows however is awful!!! I felt like he really does not care About his patients!!! I was to have several places scheduled for Mohs surgery but instead he shaved off a spot with what looked like a razor blade did not sew it up and so it left a scar!! On the other leg I scheduled to have Mohs surgery and he came into the room, looked and it and said he was just going to burn it Off. He burned it so deeply and so long that it got infected and oozing even with antibiotics. I had it done March 25 and it is still not healed after several bouts of antibiotics. To date it has been 3 months and still not healed. It is leaving a huge scar on my leg. Beware of Dr Barrows. He could care less about his patients. Always acts to busy to listen to his patients. Love Christy his PA but i do not know how Dr Barrows stays in business!!!!! Worst experience I have ever had...and am still dealing with the wound 3 months later!!!

Nancy and her team are amazing. I have had chronic cystic acne for 16 years! This was the first…read moretime I'd ever been to an acne specialist, and boy did I hit the absolute jackpot! Nancy validated all of my concerns and actively listened when I told her about my struggles with acne. She doesn't just give you a skincare plan (anyone can do that). She gives you diet and lifestyle changes to consider and also gives you lists of ingredients to avoid in your hair, skin, and home products and in your food! I thought I was very conscious about my products and my diet, and then she politely steered me in a better direction. If you're looking for alternatives to anything, she can help you find them AND they will all be acne safe! In addition, if you have sensitive skin, she's your best bet. My skin is VERY sensitive and I have reactions to nearly everything! She tested different products on me and found a routine that was safe for my sensitive skin and even helped me toughen my skin up so it's not as reactive as it once was. Trust the process! Take lots of pictures! Your skin will slowly but surely start to improve. It has been a night and day difference for me and I've only been seeing her for 7 weeks! Investing in your skin will be the best investment you ever make. I started this journey to get clear for my wedding in the spring, but I'm quickly realizing that this is a lifestyle I really enjoy!
