A rainy Thanksgiving. Was I Sarah, Shelly Webster, or Eric Draven with his faithful companion,…read moreGabriel. Bottom line? It can't rain all the time, but I think cemeteries are all beautiful no matter the weather. "They're the safest place to be!"Johnny Stompanato's final resting place was there to help me fire it up. The site looked different this day. Flowers were brought to the headstone and it made me wonder who still remembered. I needed to channel my inner Chester Gould from across the graveyard in order to solve the mystery. "All those people all those lives, where are they now? With love and hate, and passions just like mine, they were born and then they lived and then they died. Seems so unfair, oh I want to cry." There were visitors on this day other than myself. I can only guess they were seeking the same kind of reflection. To be thankful for the life that you're given, remember loved ones, and to make the most of what you can. I could have been by myself and not felt alone. The Crane/Stompanato case has intrigued me from the moment I was told their story. Stompanato was a bodyguard for a gangster, and he was in an abusive relationship with actress, Lana Turner. Turner's daughter, Cheryl Crane, supposedly stabbed Stompanato to death because he was attacking her mother. Rumor has it that perhaps it was in fact Turner that stabbed him and the daughter took the blame as a child would be charged differently for murder. According to Wikipedia, the Stompanato family sued for $7 million after the courts ruled in favor of Crane. I recently lost a friend of my own, and I took a moment to think about him as well, even though he was put to rest in Utah. He was only 30 years old and it was too soon. The rain fell with slow swollen drops. The kind of pace that will lull anyone into an immediate reverie. I miss you, my dear friend. After snapping a few photos of Stompanato's grave site, I got in my car and started to find my way out to Jackson Street. I basically had to drive to the other end of the cemetery, and noticed on the way out, there was a pet cemetery created with the tiny amount of space only animals would fit -- between the narrow gravel road, and the property line that divided Oakland Cemetery with the backyards of local homes. I am Thankful for everything life has given me, even if lately it feels like happiness isn't in the cards at the moment. Life can't be sad all the time either. "Dream the crow black dream."

He was always meticulously trying to care for his family, and was always organized and and prepared for everything. He wanted to make sure that things would be seamless when he passed so he would not be any burden to his wife and children. Everything went smoothly at his passing concerning his estate except with the funeral plans he made. Davenport did not inform us about his policy for the funeral until after he was buried. None of his final wishes were honored as a result. Davenport has been very unsympathetic. I have retained an attorney.

You may Rest in Peace. - Afterglow - "I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one, I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. I'd like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done."
