Posting review on behalf of coworker: AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU CAN AT ALL COSTS!! This will be my detailed story, in case they try to deny it happened or downplay it. I went there around a month and a half ago with my Toyota Supra looking to get it painted. The man I'm assuming is the shop manager told me to wait on the owner (who drives a Blue pickup truck). After the owner gets there it's him, the manager, and another painter who gawk at/praise my car, etc before quoting me almost 6 grand for a paint job!! Here's the kicker...the owner says "well we can't guarantee something won't get broken because of the age of the car." I let it slide, because in my head I'm like "I'm not paying 6 grand for a paint job anyway, ESPECIALLY when you can't even guarantee TLC while doing it or honoring something if you break it, but I'll keep listening to the BS." Towards the end of the quote they said "hey if you want us to sand/clear/restore the foggy headlights bring it back up, it'll be $65 and we can do it in a hr, have them looking like new." I said OK. Thanked them for their time and left. Fast forward to this past Friday (17 July 20). I called and spoke with a gentleman on the phone (probably that same manager), told them "I have a set of headlights I need sanded/cleared/restored." He said, "bring them on Monday, that's the soonest I can get to them." I said OK. I go up there this morning (27 July 20) at 0900 (9am) and I say to that same manager guy "hey I called on Friday about my headlights and I want to drop them off to get sanded/cleared/restored." He looks me in the face and says "we don't do that." I said "I just called on Friday and was told to bring them up here today." He then says "let me talk to the owner" (double down). He THEN comes out and says "we don't do them unless the car is getting repaired" (TRIPLE down). I said "that's not what you told me a month and a half ago when I brought my Supra up here." I left it alone and walked out. Here's the real issue,...they were mad that I didn't want to pay 6 grand for a paint job that they wouldn't guarantee. So when I came back up for a different job, I was recognized (because I reminded him I was just up there with my Supra) and told "nah we don't do that." MIND YOU that's NOT what I was told on Friday and NOT what I was told a month and a half ago. Make it so bad I was in uniform. So that's how you treat military personnel, and/or people in general?! Not cool. Save yourself some time/headache and go to Carolina Collision. I've had nothing but pleasant experiences with them and they're QUICK to take on small jobs, and don't get upset about it. I have a total of 3 cars, all of which need headlight restoration, which I told McIntosh a month and a half ago when I took my Supra. So they cut off their nose to spite their face. DON'T spend your money/insurance company's money here. Go elsewhere. read more

I am basing my review off of two co-worker's experiences, so bare with me. One dropped off his car for some touch up paint work. Well, two weeks later and many dodged phone calls, the lady tells him his car is not running. He takes very good care of his vehicles, an dhe said it was running just fine when he dropped it off. It wasn't until a friend called, pretending to be his attorney, that they finally got their rears in gear and gave him his car back. Paint looked, fine, but he had to pay for the repairs to the motor that magically occurred while in their care. The other dropped his truck off for some paint work. Did not get his vehicle back until three and a half weeks later. Was he supposed to jog to work every day while they had it? I would look somewhere else if you need this service. Trouble is, they are one of the only games in town so they have you by the hairy hangars. read more

The only place in town USAA uses, and for good reason! They are amazing! My Jetta looks brand new after hitting a deer. They even fixed some dents not related to the deer incident. Very happy customer. My only negative comment is that they need to re-vamp their waiting area. It is quite unappealing and very dusty/dingy. read more

I just had the most amazing experience with this shop, from the time I walked in the door to initially drop my vehicle off for service until I picked my vehicle up. I love the fish tank when you walk in the doors, it gives the atmosphere a very calm effect, the staff was very pleasant and everything the gentleman told me would happen or needed to be done was completed and on time. I even received a nice little surprise when I picked up my car, they had actually washed the vehicle and did a very thorough detailing job in the inside for me. As I joked with the owner about the car being cleaned up for me, he stated that the vehicles get dust on them when they are in the back shop being worked on so they wash them down before returning them to the owner. Now, I've had what he called a "wash down" done before and this was not just a wash down, someone took the time to really clean my vehicle up from the inside out and made sure my tires were shining and to me that speaks volume. That's what I call customer service, you can tell that they are very big on quality and at the end of the day that's what's most important to me. Job well done and thank you so very much for taking such great care of me and my vehicle. Good customer service is so hard to come by these days and the staff at McIntosh portrayed EXCELLENT service. read more

Wife had a vehicle accident that was the fault of another. McIntosh Body & Paint promised that the vehicle would be certified by Dodge technician before release. McIntosh Body & Paint Business lied. Business released the vehicle with a major leak discovered on the premises. The Vehicle was not accepted by customer. McIntosh Body & Paint Business stated the vehicle was inspected... Obviously not due to the obvious Leak discovered upon pick up of vehicle (another Lie). I feel the Business shows bias in favor of the insurance company and is against the owner of the vehicle. Business caught in two lies but fail to address the lies and the issue of failed repairs. Business also gave excuses of non-repairs of damaged areas caused by the accident. Instead, pushed the damage off as road hazards and rocks. Customer beware and find yourself a company that is recognized by the Better Business Bureau and works for the customer. The customer service by the receptionist was nice but the two men that handle repair work up, needs a lot of work. They act like the customer is stupid and does not know what is going on even if customer is seasoned in Vehicle Maintenance from the Military and is a Retired Military Veteran that has seen and experienced a lot around the world. The Business needs to keep it's own opinions in regards to the working of a dealership to themselves when it comes to purchases and shipment of new cars from Corporate Auto Makers, and take care of the customer (the owner of the vehicle) and allow any discrepancies in the repair of the vehicle be handled by the customer and the Auto Insurance Company. The Business is supposed to be an independent business, not working for the insurance company in disputes of damage to the customer in an area that should be handled by a certified dealer mechanic rather than a Body Shop, exterior auto body specialist. My husband and I had a great experience with McIntosh. We were referred through a co-worker. Because I was able to leave my truck for an extended period of time they were able to get to it at their convienence. The problem was taken care of in a matter of days! And we're thus far very happy with the results. To top it off they didn't even charge me! The issue wasn't expensive, but none the less $50 is $50. They made one customer very happy that day :-) read more

I took my car to Macintosh and was very unhappy, it went in for hail damage and came out with the paint not being buffed in the back of my new 2014 Chevy Malibu, the strips at the top of the car on each side looked like a five year old did it, they had to order another part for my front windshield, the back window that they had taken out was not sealed and water got in the back of my seat and caused a bad smell, of course I was upset but during the entire time I stayed professional, USAA is my insurance company I went to them they sent a guy out to inspect and they gave me the OK to go to john Harris body shop who I give 10 stars to because they fixed everything that mackintosh screwed up, this is not all the story just the main parts, Sumter is a small town not one time did anyone call me to apologize for the crappy work they did, not one time did Mr. Macintosh call me to say let us try and make it right but he was quick to tell me who he was going to fired, he was quick to tell me that the mistakes I found walking around the car was because he could not see that well . I give this company a zero, I didn't mention this happen in May of 2014 and today I'm picking my car up because of the smell that was in It, I have more mile on enterprise rental cars than my new Chevy Malibu . read more
